Happened to Yuna too, which is why 3(!) skaters were allowed to go to Sochi from Korea! But it was nice -
Proposed changes for next season
yuzuangel replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
I think the ISU should have made it a sliding scale, like the last 3 backloaded combinations get 10%, next 2 get 5%, next 2 get 3%, or something. Otherwise, like someone else said, all the layouts are gonna be 2+1 and 4+3 and it'll be really boring. But I'm guessing this would be way too damn complicated for the ISU. -
-- Announcement -- I'm going to run an update to Invision Community 4.3.3 in about 30 minutes. The update looks like this: https://invisioncommunity.com/news/product-updates/invision-community-43-r1055/ It's a bit different than our normal updates because there will be product changes and not just bug fixes or whatnot. So the site might look a bit different after the update, and some of our plugins might not be compatible. I'm not sure what exactly will happen (although I don't expect anything major, from reading the link), but we probably won't know for sure until we do the update. If things do break we'll fix them, update them etc. as soon as possible. Just letting you guys know ahead of time in case there are changes that you're not familiar with or if some things suddenly stop working

Let's show our gratitude to TCC (and not only?)
yuzuangel replied to KatjaThera's topic in Yuzuru Hanyu
LOL! Hmm, deadline...let's say end of June, so I can print the banner and/or book. And by end of July, we get everything collected & ready to mail? That way we can prepare it all before the season begins -

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf2NaKA3ue0RTvQqH7PfwVlpydHSZXcoLrMhuPiag4fX8gGsw/viewform I made a form, if people are still interested in this If we get enough messages, we can put them on a banner and/or book. And mail it to TCC sometimes this summer -
Guess we'll probably see Evgenia at SC then... ((and maybe that means Yuzu too if Brian doesn't want to travel too much))

Gonna do an upgrade tomorrow at noon, PST Thanks

Nooo :(( Did you get it checked? Also I wanted to ask what coaches do you recommend in Chelsea Piers? I hope you feel better soon!

The 2014 Patrick Chan and Yuzu Situation
yuzuangel replied to theblingmonster's topic in Yuzuru Hanyu
Wow just gorgeous! I love this version of R+J2.0. Has a hint of the rawness and emotions of R+J1.0 which I've always loved.- 105 replies

2018/19 Coaching changes
yuzuangel replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
Yeah, you're right, and I don't like it. Unfortunately there just aren't that many good skating coaches out there, and as we see every quad, skaters end up congregating to the same training centers. Isn't this happening in Ice Dance too? But what can we do? I guess one thing would be to just understand that no one's a saint, and Brian certainly isn't one, but it worked out for Yuzu so far, and we should just be happy that it has. And hope that it continues to work out for as long as Yuzu wants to keep skating. On that note, I will say that I've been interviewed before, and direct quotes are made up all the time. At least for me, it happens more often than not that quotes are outright fabricated or twisted to fit a narrative. BUT I'm a nobody, and there's almost no way it would happen to someone like Brian, by a reporter that only writes on a niche topic, knowing that their words WILL be analyzed. The skating world is small and he could easily be blacklisted. So while I do think Phil asked a leading question there, or conveniently left out context, there's no way he messed with the quote. I guess all we can do is cross our fingers and hope for the best. Sigh. -

You're right, actually this makes lots of sense. His facial expressions are more expressive than his spoken words sometimes. -
2018/19 Coaching changes

Scene 1 (Dark, stormy night) Brian enters, wearing a dark cape, takes off his hood. Only one candle lights the scene. Brian: "Boyang is coming to train at TCC." Yuzu: literally doesn't react Brian: leaves Lightning strikes and thunder roars in the background. Lol seriously how I'm imagining it. -
Now I don't know about the others, but these two are definitely A Thing Rereading this quote: It sounds like the following exchange happened: Phil Hersh: Did you have to ask Yuzu for permission to train Boyang? Brian: I didn't really ask for permission per se (thinking: who's the coach here?) but I just threw the idea out to him to see if he had any objections. (I.e. "Boyang wants to train at TCC, what do you think?" Yuzu: "Oh okay.") I'm sure if there was an issue, he would have mentioned it. Phil Hersh's quick-quotes quill: Brian says he didn't bother to ask Yuzu for permission. Seems like he's taking a different approach with Yuzu than he did with Javi...stay tuned for more drama.
-
*cough* *cough* maybe you weren't looking at the right place....just kidding
-
LOL good take. So Hersh wrote this? Yeah I guess we won't ever know what happened, then. But if Brian mentioned that he tested Yuzu for a reaction, that means he didn't spring it on Yuzu and say "Like it or not, it's happening." He did ask, maybe not outright. I think Brian has earned our trust enough now that we can be confident he didn't do something stupid.... OTOH, I think it would be hard for Yuzu to say no regardless. If Brian doesn't take Boyang, Boyang will go somewhere else for the next 4 years, and it's a lost opportunity for him to invest in a skater with clearly insane amount of potential. And Yuzu doesn't even know if he'll continue or retire after 1 season or 4 more seasons, so he would probably feel that it's not his place to say no.

That is a beautiful jump, it has such height and snap to it. But to me it looks more like a salchow with 270 degree prerotation..., the way she's already rotating going into the axel and how she swings her free leg around. Usually axels are done on an edge but not that deep....now I wonder if she can do a 4S
-
I think they might have tried to play up the anime aspect of his fandom. Not that he's an anime character, of course (duh), but there's an overlap in the fandoms, and he's Japanese (=anime, in the Western mind), and he does have that look. If so, there are millions of better fanart of him but hey .....
-
Nah, Yuzu's spins are better. And jumps, too, unless we're talking solely about the height on the 4Lz.
-
I guess she took it out, hah
