  1. No way! No. Way. Evgenia doesn't strike me as the type and RusFed would never let her go, she's a 2x WC and 2x Olympic Silver Medalist. And why would she? If she cannot be top 3 in Russia, what's the point? She's already won everything except Olympic Gold and she's not going to win Olympic Gold if she isn't even top 3 in Russia. She is skating for gold medals only, not participation trophies. Not to mention, I'm sure she knows how RusFed politicking has benefited her immensely.
  2. Is it this one? http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/NEOBK-2197291 Or is it a softcover one?
  3. Maybe Zhenya has always wanted to move, but of course it was not the right time and she didn't have money then...but now she must have sponsors just like Yuzu has ANA? ETA: Yeah, and the ice shows in Japan must pay quite decently? However, Alina might not have much apart from state funding...yet.
  4. The way it's framed it sounds like she is moving out of weakness, but I do understand. It must be hard to have to constantly be at your best because your biggest competitors are watching all the time. You know they take motivation in your failures. You know they are secretly noting and copying your best moves. Even if some of those girls leave, another one will replace her. I remember someone mentioned that TCC is a private club and no one will post on instagram if you have a meltdown run-through one day. The mental comfort will be very important. OTOH maybe that's why she's so mentally strong...but maybe that won't change when she moves, and she can work on other things rather than being reminded that her clock is ticking at every moment.
  5. Yeah, I hope everyone's okay with it. And it turns out well for everyone involved...
  6. Yeah, Gabby isn't really at Zhenya's level...yet...
  7. tbf maybe the skaters don't really have much of a say in the first place, and they just get customary notification...coaches have to eat, too, so skaters might feel bad for refusing. it might hurt their relationship with the coach.
  8. I hadn't thought of it, but maybe because Brian is not Gabby's main coach, she has less of a say? Plus, Gabby may feel she needs a push, because her skating is...kind of up and down...but she does strike me as the type to be very competitive but not in a Yuzu/Javi way so you're right, it's a bit surprising there.
  9. Good idea. Off season, perfect time? How about some ice wine XD
  10. I'm gonna take this moment and appreciate how Brian was able to handle having two champions skate under the same coach in the same rink and still treat them both with all the care and support they needed. As we can see, it's not as easy as it looks.
  11. But really, though? Marin, Satoko, and Shoma all don't have the greatest technique. However they have great skating skills so I guess it depends on what she wants to work on...maybe her jumping technique is already set.
  12. Wow what a beautiful site! I wish it was updated~~~ there's been so much since...
  13. True, but Yale does a good job of making buttloads of concessions for their Div 1 athletes, so maybe they'll do the same for their world champ
  14. umm I love them =D i had them mounted on Tuesday so I only really skated in them for about 2 days, so i'm still getting used to it, but i feel like i'm used to them already! the first thing i noticed was indeed that they are very fast, and they grip the ice very well (probably because they're new and sharp) that it feels very easy and safe to glide on deeper edges for a long time, and the stability gives me more confidence and less hesitation into moves. the speed and smoothness feels very nice, it almost feels like cheating because i don't have to push very hard and i can already gain a lot of speed, and i don't need to lean in very much and i can get deep edges. and the security is nice because my old blades didn't grip the ice as nicely (they're old beat-up MK professionals) so there was always the fear of slipping. the rocker is 8' and my old ones are 7' but I prefer these for some reason. the balance is slightly different so i'm still adjusting, but it seems harder to trip over your toe picks with these blades (which I was very afraid of ) because of the flatter rocker? anyway I don't really know the specifics behind the geometry of the blades or anything, but they feel good and i can do all spins and jumps just fine. they also feel lighter because i think there's a lot less steel in the blades as well.
  15. omg yes this btw John Wilson reposted the pic of my new blades
  16. I think the world rankings are silly. So tbh I don't mind Yuzu being 3rd
  17. Oh man...now his answer seems more and more like shade "I don't know, but I've probably gained some muscle since then" (aka obviously i've gained a ton of muscle you d*****s )
  18. So he was lying when Hersh asked him how much he weights and he said he has no idea?
