Quick Yuzu watercolour study from me and trying a new style of...err....'skipping the finishing layer and just going with a base wash because I was too busy this winter break' I definitely feel like watercolours is the medium that suits him best ( : tumblr post

Ahh~ She suits the music so well - wish her costume had more classically Japanese influences but maybe that would have been too cliche? I really hope her jumps stabilise ;;;; I've watched the movie so much because of its beautiful cinematography and music. Kind of wish she had the fast music a little earlier because it doesn't quite feel integrated enough to me (kind of a 'TADA step sequence!' for me), but I love the cut and the song she ended it on

POLL: Yuzu's 2017-18 FS music predictions
axelsandwich replied to sublimeskating's topic in Yuzuru Hanyu
THE SIGNS. THE SIGNS ARE STRONG I mean if he's going to repeat something, I'd rather it be Seimei than POTO or RJ but. BUT. ((can we be put out of our misery already)) Also I swear I heard it somewhere but wasn't there a rumour that David Wilson was choreographing his EX? Which means it's unlikely he'll be doing Seimei for his EX..... I would looove a new free and a Seimei EX like. CAN YOU ALL IMAGINE -

I mean......I'd take UA over whatever 'manly' mess some of the men usually wear (their old winter sweater + some pants..................) but for Yuzu, that'd be the most extreme of minimalism (highkey want his LP costume to be tight-fitting and dark toned though. A GIRL CAN PRAY)- 6,825 replies

Patrick and Daisuke definitely did a bit of a 'lol wtf this kid's hilarious' chuckle (especially since Yuzu was basically acting like he won the gold #NOSHAME) but....little did they know......the kid would become terrifying very, very soon lmao, I guess it's useful to prevent their hairline getting cold???? Nothing will beat the real!Plushenko which is such a look. Would not have wanted to live in the 70s, I wouldn't be able to stop laughing

Do we know specifically what day he's releasing news on his LP? I think it was mentioned awhile ago but I don't remember

I don't have much to add to the Vincent discourse that hasn't already been said (lol the music is...like...95% identical), except to say that he looks less settled in his body than Yuzu did back then. But where Yuzu's 'unsettledness' was moving with an excessive amount of reckless/slightly flaily speed and drama (which worked in his favour in WC2012), Vincent's movements are slower and stiffer, probably from nerves/overthinking. Also is it just me or are his arms super long? He looks so gangly, like he just came out of a growth spurt and is still getting used to his limbs...? Yuzu's the type who will get too hyped up or overactive when he's nervous - I feel Vincent (like me lol) tends to shut down and become more inwards-focused and overthink, which does not suit Romeo as much. That was a beautiful spread eagle though, definitely the highlight for me. I'm curious to see how his season will develop!- 6,825 replies

Adjusting and praying. But at least on MF, your camera doesn't lock the shutter if AF freaks out (I've missed a perfect shot when I was actually focused but AF thought it was destined to focus on the background...never again lol). @CupidsBow, your photos are great! Do figure skating venue allow you to bring larger telephoto lenses? I know the tennis actually checked your bags and banned lenses that were 200mm+

It's scary how 4+ is becoming the norm..... but I guess if you want to expedite your threat to medals, it's the 'shortcut' at the moment if you can gamble on and land your quads. I feel like it'll take more injuries for the brakes to be put on this train, sadly- 6,825 replies

As expected, the PR/media game is a strong one (but also....GET DAT $$$ SHOMA. It's appalling how little they make from actual competitions) Ohh interesting - he definitely became a little more Yuzu-like towards the end but Yuzu's skating style is pretty hard to imitate/channel. I like his jumps (except sometimes when he comes out of it, his arms kind of look like they're almost dangling there?) but I find his demeanour a little stiff, especially in the upper body. I tend to use Yuzu as a reference but I'm aware he's not 100% perfect so... is Mitsuki's way of carrying himself considered more 'proper' (since his back/posture is much straighter)?

Probably not, unfortunately, since it's right in the middle of uni semester ; u ; I'm crossing my fingers for Milan 2018 though! Thank you lovely I hope so too!

Thanks for sharing an interesting read, on one of my bucket list topics for photography since I discovered Yuzu I'm impressed by how sharp some of her photos are, especially since I remember her saying she used manual focus, which is understandable for skating since autofocus would probably freak out trying to capture a moving subject. For reference, her 70-200mm lens is a beast and definitely not something I would ever carry around casually, so props to her dedication. If I ever get a chance to go to a skating event live, I'm going to have to live with what my 105mm can capture (I managed to photograph Federer at the Aus Open with it, so I'm happy I ticked off one sports photography bucket list item).

omg Kana's program was absolutely hilarious - I love her smile so muchhhh (also LOL @ the contrast between her regard for Gachi and Yuzu. I guess growing up as childhood friends/competitors makes a difference )

I don't know what I love more: the fact that his hands don't change from shoujo anime hands (#accurate) or the fact the Sailor Moon body proportions are almost believable

This is so incredibly frustrating, why are they so invested in self sabotage. Japan is particularly bad with protectionism of content online (Fuji.........>__>) but the ISU are no better. That being said, one glance at the age and demographic of ISU officials and reps will tell you why their attitude is stuck in the past...- 6,825 replies

I think he's always motivated after losing to someone but he tends to be motivated by others based on specific qualities he admires/wants to steal lol (Javi's 4S, Patrick's skating skills and dominance, Boyang's Lutz technique and triggering the quad era). I've seen him praise Shoma's consistency and Jason's artistry too. In particular, I think he appreciates people who push the sport forward like Patrick and Boyang (I lowkey adore how he credits Boyang for starting the quad era and the impression Boyang made on him at NHK). It is a shame that Yuzu's insanely difficult transitions aren't as 'performative' or apparent to a casual viewer - you kind of have to get into the technical side to appreciate the edges as most people still tend to look at the upper body. I think he does tough transitions even when he doesn't get much of a reward in pts because he's always chasing after his own 'ideal' skate, and refuses to simplify his routine even when he may achieve the same result in a less complex/taxing way (or he's just used to the entry now lol).- 6,825 replies

The Hanyu Back Counter/Hanyu Entry has a nice ring to it Trigger him away Boyang, if it'll mean Yuzu staying around a few more years out of classic competitive fire (and a sprinkling of pettiness LET'S BE REAL. I love the kid but that jumping-quad-toe-loop-in-front-of-Patrick story always makes me laugh bc of COURSE. He'll be salty 5eva if someone lands 4A and he doesn't).- 6,825 replies
