This is what he's going to have to start with, though with less speed and more care, because his right ankle is going to have to recover the agility and strength it had to sustain those edges and ankle bends.

Congratulate skaters with their Birthdays
xeyra replied to Deliverpooh's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
Wishing every skater a happy birthday, be it on time or belated! -
Whoever says that is a troll and is absolutely not worth anyone's time. Especially if they're a rabbit.

Sigh. There is no criticism to be made. Yuzu meets a bunch of criteria for the third spot, above everyone else who might be 3rd at Nationals. Heck, he has better Season ranking than any other Japanese man not named Shoma. Whatever one might find in that other place, it's illogical nonsense and anyone with brains will never find Yuzu being chosen unfair, and JSF doesn't need to do anything to justify themselves.

That troll is having the time of their life, for sure, but they're just going in circles about something they don't believe will happen anyway. They're sure praying for it, though!

I sure hope Russia doesn't wait to make their team choices until after Europeans because they do have to get their athletes veto-ed by whatever committee IOC will have to analyze Russian athletes wanting to compete as OAR.

I'll chip in for this poster.

I just wish him to recover as well as possible to be as ready as he can be for Olympics, so he can skate and be happy in the end. Please?

Team we're fewer but still good!
xeyra replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Igloo World: Team Other Skaters
Noooo! Why do all my faves get injured!? -
My predictions were all so mediocre but at least I ended up 6th in the end. Goddammit everyone bombing their skates and bombing my predictions. Skaters, you had one job!

Being back on the ice doesn't mean he's going to be going back to jumping quads right away. On Ice rehabilitation is also important, especially for testing and working on the range of motion on his ankle, considering the agility needed for turns and edges. Edit: Actually, any kind of rehabilitation involves gradually doing the full range of activity that the sportsman was doing before, so being back on ice is part of the rehabilitation process.

Daisuke Takahashi was injured before the pre-Sochi JP Nats and was still halfway to recovery when he competed at Nats, finishing 5th and worsening his injury. He went to Sochi still but his performance suffered because he didn't recover properly. The situation, of course, was different then considering the deep men's field in 2013 so he felt like he had to compete to be sent to Sochi. It's different now and Yuzu doesn't need Nationals to be chosen so he doesn't need to force himself to compete before he's ready. Kobayashi's words from the translation above kind of makes me think she's aware of that situation and probably doesn't want a repeat. It also seems they're waiting and willing to accommodate Yuzu's requests.

I come back from a weekend working and a badly slept night to wake up to the news Yuzu still hasn't recovered enough for on ice training. The universe really isn't making it easy on him, is it?
-
And he's competed steadily the past 3 years so he has great points from all seasons. Nathan's WS isn't higher because he missed out on half a season post-nationals in 2016 due to injury. However, he has now surpassed Patrick Chan in WS so this means PChiddy won't be making the last group in the SP at Olys unless Mikhail doesn't go.
-
World Standings matter for only two things: SP draw/group order (the higher the rank the later the group you skate in) and bragging rights, I guess?

Some parts of this interview are kind of sad and a bit worrying considering what ended up happening at NHK. His fear of injuring himself ended up becoming true and I hope this doesn't make him more cautious still.... I want him to come back strong and ready to destroy.

Will Han Yan finally win his 4CC title or at least get something other than bronze from it!?

I did some predictions but some of them I'd actually be happy if they weren't correct.
