Worked for Samarin at Russian Nationals!
-
Yuzuru Hanyu is an alien confirmed: he has 3 nipples. (I know it's his monitor thingie, let me live)
-
Yuzu should just place Pooh behind the boards and squeeze it out of sight. If it's not visible, then there's no worries!
-
I consider GPF clean-ish. It was also the beginning of the audience interaction during the step sequence.
-
OT but I was reading the whole transcript and Jimmy Ma going viral may make Figure Skating great again in the USA.
-
I do wonder, though, how Javi's Mickey got through. Maybe as long as it doesn't visibly say Disney, it's not an issue? Yuzu did have a pooh at the K&C that got thrown on the ice after his performance.
-
You land more and more difficult quads. J/K. Sorta.
-
As was pointed out, Disney sponsoring Yuzu wouldn't really do anything. They'd need to pay IOC to have their brand displayed. Pooh can be at PC, though. They just have to find a cover for the Pooh cover. Wrap it in something. Nathan almost looks like a speed skater with that outfit.

Ashley's La La Land dress. I hope to see it again this season. Please go to 4CC, Ashley.
-
I think at Worlds he dropped the entry because he had to change his layout on the fly to compensate for the initial 4Lz fall by doing two 4Ts instead of just one.

Satoko looks gorgeous!

I forgot to do US predictions (would have failed miserably there anyway with the way things turned out) so my ranking in the Nationals games will go down. Am sad. There goes my mediocre 5th place. I'll try to do Canadian Nationals, though.

I'm kind of dreading the documentary, mostly because it'll most likely be old footage and interviews at the beginning of the season, and his attitude there will likely have changed now with what has happened, and I'm going to be sad all over again.
-
I remember his FS last season had a spreadeagle entry into his 4T2T2Lo. With all the changes his layout suffered, though, not sure if that wasn't lost along the way.

Of course it does...... I preferred the Michael Jackson version.

Shit, so soon. I'm not actually ready.

I for one would be the happiest bean if he was recovered and ready enough to bring the 4Lz back. I hope he can, am prepared for if he doesn't. But when we speak about his mentality playing a role here and not allowing him to back down from difficulty... I don't know, maybe a mentality shift and compromise might be necessary for great success. Wasn't that what the tarot reading said, back before all this crap?

It's not like he's that much more competitive with 5 quads when 4 are URs. Ross Miner with 1 beat him at Nationals (though he kind of was not dinged for at least one UR in his 3A). I don't know, I think 4 quads in his FS would have been enough (the days when 4 quads seems reasonable) and he could at least work on enough stamina to rotate them all properly. I wonder, though, if the problem is not lack of stamina but just the bad habit of being able to land URed quads. It's difficult to fix, once you're so used to landing underrotated jumps. This happens with the ladies so much too.

But Yuzu isn't 19 anymore. His decisions before do not necessarily dictate his decisions now. He chose to have a really unstable element in Sochi (4S) that he missed all season outside of the first and last competitions. He could have that unstable element because of his TES potential then compared to the other men. These Olympics are something different, his rivals are more and stronger than at Sochi, and he has had no opportunity to test the 4Lz in competition since COR. I cannot imagine a scenario where Orser, or even Yuzu himself, even if relunctantly, would think it'd be a good idea to re-train and use the 4Lz for Olys, not when as a quad it puts double pressure on his right foot. He'll have enough trouble getting the rest of his quads in working order in a layout in time. Maybe I'm underestimating his crazy level or his recovery level but circumstances have changed since NHK and the lengthier than expected recovery.

I wanted to bring this here because it's interesting to look at Vincent Zhou's layout at Junior Worlds in 2017 and then compare it to what he's doing nowadays. I honestly am not surprised he underrotates so much. He went from 3 quads total across two programs to 7 quads total across two programs basically in a few months, with TWO new quads he wasn't doing in 2017 (4F and 4T). His evolution had no steady increase; he and his team just decided to throw everything at it. Vincent, you're a smart kid, why do you need everything so quickly and so heavily? It's mind-boggling, to be honest, that he can even land the quads he does. Or has the stamina for it. The power of youth. I'm wishing him the best but this strategy is just...

When you say H&L Layout, you mean 4Lo 4S 3F // 4S3T 4T 3A1Lo3S 3A 3Lz, yes? Though 3Lz would need to be before choreo sequence here. I expect this is a possibility though I wonder if he might not still try for the 3 quad second half but that would require a triple (3Lz?) in the first half. I don't expect 5 quads or 4Lz. 4 quads will be challenge enough with the lost training time. I do trust him to get in shape, because he can peak very quickly, as Brian has said before. The issue will be more of a lack of repetition with the runthroughs. But there'll be time still for practice even after they get to Korea. *crossing all fingers*

COR... and ACI's SP. I agree with you. My concern now is if he'll have enough training and stamina for two clean programs (hoping, praying) than whether he'll get robbed. Priorities.

Yuzuru and red is a fiery combination.

People, you scrutinize stuff so much you kill all the good buzz... Ambesi, too, confirmed Yuzu's been on ice for some weeks now, so relax and just ride the wave of slightly less worrying.

No idea. So since when was he in Spain for Nationals?
