That's why 4Lo is absent. They're not the kind of quad who shares.
-
4Lo is the jelly girlfriend who doesn't like Yuzu eyeing that super hot 4Lz.
-
Can we please ignore Philip Hersh's articles? In the same article he talks about how Yuzu should drop the 4Lz he mentions Nathan's possible 7 quads. Also, I don't remember him ever telling Nathan to drop his 4T when he broke his hip on one. You can injure yourself just as well on an 'easy' quad as in a 'hard' quad. And Yuzu didn't injure himself because of a 4Lz. He injured himself because he was recovering from a fever, couldn't get height on his jumps and still recklessly decided to go through with the rotations on a difficult quad.

No!

And more, now from Javi:

I think even with other fields being more predictable, I haven't actually predicted a podium in any discipline correctly yet since this began.

Logically, I know. But at the same time, when you're in the first stages of grief over Yuzu's injury, you don't think logically or rationally so I blamed it on my jinxing him with predictions (not just here, there's also the US Skating Fantasy game). I'll continue the game, of course. But I'm not sure my logical brain will allow me to bypass my superstitious ass for Olympic predictions when they come.

Finally older Yuzu is a man! Even though I actually find his features 'prettier' in the more recent picture (it's the mouth 100%).
-
I'm curious about competitions with Nathan as well, since it seems Japanese love him too. I'd love to see ratings for SC, IdF and SkA.

I hate any and all news articles that uses that particular fall photo on them. They should come with a warning.

This conversation probably moved on from this but the way World Standings are calculated is that you only count the two best points from Championships, the four best points from the Grand Prix series and the four best points from Selected International Competitions. As such, currently: Yuzu: 4821 = 1200+756 (Championships) + 800+560+400+360 (Grand Prix) + 300+270+175+0 (Other Comps) Shoma: 4168 = 1080+447 (Championships) + 648+454+400+400 (Grand Prix) + 300+300+139+0 (Other Comps) If Shoma wins GPF, his points would then be: 4568 = 1080+447 (Championships) + 800+648+454+400 (Grand Prix) + 300+300+139+0 (Other Comps) This because he would replace 400 points for 800 points, so in effect would only raise 400 points in ranking. Edit: Also, if he wins IdF this week, his World Standing will be unchanged since he replaces a 400 for another 400. BTW, the better ranking points in either 4CC/Olympics/Worlds will count for the World Standings. I'm not sure how many points winning 4CC give but it's less than 1200 (I think it's 840, correct me if I'm wrong). Winning Olympics or Worlds should give 1200. Actually, coming second or even third at Worlds or Olympics would give better ranking points than winning 4CC. Edit 2: What Yuzu will be losing on is in Season Rankings, which will be low, but those count for absolutely nothing.

Not sure if it's been said but @yude at GS mentioned that in today's evening NHK news at 10 there was an extra tidbit of the Yuzu interview where he says his ankle was already getting better today than the past two days. Step forward in the healing process.
-
He's gotten even prettier with age.
-
D'awww, he was watching Satton skate.
-
Why think he lied? When he said he was in great condition, it was on Tuesday, when he arrived in Japan. Nothing says he wasn't. The fever probably came the day after he arrived (Wednesday) and by Thursday's practice, it had taken its toll on him and... well... *sigh*
-
Not @Xen but yeah, for the project to be more visible and not lost in the General thread, if you could pin it as a topic somewhere.
-
Nah, it's just an opinion piece that's been mentioned before, I think. Blah blah, good decision he made, blah blah, he can still get chosen for Olympics even if he misses Nationals, commentary by an old jump teacher from Yuzu's childhood about learning new jumps bringing its dangers, Yuzu wanting to challenge himself for it to be a competition, etc.
-
This of course all depends on how quickly Yuzu gets on his feet and how training and conditioning goes. Adding 4Lz and a 5-quad FS after setting back his conditioning might be complicated, even for his stubborness. But he could go for a 4-quad Seimei with 4Lz, who knows.
-
Brian said before that he usually let's skaters make their own choices but if there's something he vehemently disagrees about he will make himself known. And I'm not sure if he might not vehemently disagree after this, considering the recovery time and how Yuzu's conditioning might be somewhat set back. He may even convince Yuzu.
-
4Lo, yes, if he can regain it in time. 4Lz is gone this season. No one will let him try it until post-Olympics.

[2017/18] Senior Men of the Grand Prix circuit
xeyra replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Igloo World: Team Other Skaters
Say Javi wins France next week (unlikely with Shoma there but let's wonder). He gets 20 points. What circumstances would need to happen so he could still be able to go with 20 points? Aside from the ones that have happened so far... -
Yeah, I guess I'll do the same. At least up until GPF.
