[TV Broadcast] Sendai Parade 2018

Featured Replies

This was a wonderful event! So happy to see Yuzu just smiling and beaming, and positively glowing all throughout :tumblr_m4tqlnjhYJ1qdlkyg:

I was watching it in snatches on my phone, with half of my attention on some work I was doing. It was amusing during those minutes when I wasn't looking at my phone, all I could hear were the cheers and screams from the crowd. And the moments when the cheering would suddenly swell up would make me pick up my phone to see what was happening, and then I'd find out it was Yuzu smiling, or doing poses, or paying particular attention to a section of the crowd lol.

He is so much loved :tumblr_m230o99sJP1qfamg6: I hope he really felt it and fully realised it. He deserves all of it and more.

I haven't caught up with the thread yet, but it seems I can't sleep until I go over today again.

It was pretty crazy. I arrived in Sendai with the first shinkansen, just after 7:30am. Then followed the crowds to the parade site and found a spot that was 5-6th row. Then planted myself on the ground at around 8am. 5 and a half hours to go. ^_^; The sun was beating down directly on us from the start and every little bit of concrete was covered. I quite literally had a lady fan in my lap ^_^; It became too much pretty quickly, since I actually hate crowds, so I left my bag there and left to get some food and drinks and just take a break from that place. Then later I took one more break, before it was time ro stand up.

Then they had us move from the sidewalk to the street. With a lot of "move slowly, follow the person in front of you carefully, don't push" guidance. Honestly, that was terrifying for me, but it was ok. as expected, Japanese crowds are disciplined.

When he showed up, though, everyone crowded further in front and took out cameras and phones and even though I was almost directly in front of the stage, just a few people in, I couldn't see a thing. I also couldn't hear much among cries of "I can see!" and " I can't see!" That was pretty annoying.

But then the actual parade came and I was sure it was going to be the other way, but he started right next to us. And I could finally see him clearly, medal and all. Smiling and waving and looking so beautiful and soft. It looked to me like that post- PC softness. It was beautiful and the 10-15 seconds it lasted were totally worth it.

I actually started crying after that. ^_^;

And as the crowds in the area dispersed, I went slowly along the route and then at one point, he turned back towards us in the back and waved again, so those of us still there waved back.

It was great to be part of that and to finally see him after two aborted attempts. It truly was worth it. Worth the trip, the 4am wakeup, the sitting in the sun in the hotest April Day in Sendai, worth the little annoyances, worth the very awkward sunburns on my arms and the almost-happened-but-not-really panic attacks. Just for a few seconds of that smile. Totally worth it!

Hopefully next time will be to see him skate!

Have this been posted yet?

Thank you for sharing!
Nice fancam, though not filmed by a fan.
I love this view much much more than those provided by the live-streamed footage. The crowd and Yuzu both look more relaxed in this video.

Seems like he was trying to fulfill a request made by this person's mother.

The fan she's holding in one of the pictures says "Please do Akkan-be (あっかんべー English description)"

if anyone of you has a chance to watch on smart tv or mibox NHK World TV, today at every full hour there's NHK Newsline, next one at 8pm CET (in 38 minutes), they mention the parade + the conference, and what's nice, it's in English.

I wish Yuzuru would be open about it from now. The next time they ask about Beijing he should say upfront.

"Ive already shown you multiple times that I will dodge this question with all my might. Please stop asking me the same questions over and over again. Thank you."

Got a chance to read the question and translation from Tadakixd on Tumblr. 😊
