I would say the judges were giving Nate brownie points so he won't quit after PC. 

This is actually his highest international total score this season. I think the highest international score at all below the 4CC he won.

Imagine he had skated in the last group... we would have seen something close to 220

Nathan pulled a Mao! I'm happy for him! Slightly salty that his tes was higher than Yuzu's WC H&L tes but still happy about his performance today. If 2 out of the top 4 make some mistakes, he might have a chance to podium.
