You betcha!! That would throw a real wrench into the plan .... however, the judges there would never give it to her because they've see what she's gotten internationally this year and they just won't see fit to reward her  no matter what.. at least, that's what I'm thinking. Feel sorry for Mai because if she hadn't skated so well in her long program at World's, they wouldn't even have 2 spots... but she's probably dumped anyway.

unfortunately i think youre right

if jsf gave her the push she could have easily podiumed on both her gps

They were saving their push for those URs of Satton’s. And it turned out well for them. I guess?

wow Kaori is so cute, :tumblr_inline_mg16hfnAAr1qdlkyg:

And not even one UR for Satoko...ok.

Happy for Wakaba going to the final, happy for Kaori's silver, and who would have guessed Satoko would get gold with almost pb in the free...

But now I'm really, really, really sad for Mai:sadPooh:

Genuinely asking - which jumps did you think were UR? I was looking quite hard (I'm not v good at it yet) bc I know that's an issue but I thought quite a number looked rotated today

What's with the announcer in the arena? "Photographers are so fussy... Smile ladies... SMILE, SMILE, SMILE..."

Kinda creepy... good thing it's not a male announcer saying that, at least

Huh? I'm so behind on the news, why would Med pull out of GPF?

She is suffering from an injury on her right foot (I believe there is a crack in her metatarsal bone), so there are speculations whether she will withdraw from GPF. Currently, she herself wants to partake in GPF.

Just from the jumps that were replayed in slow-mo (I don't trust myself with seeing URs in real time) I'd say the 3Lo, 3T from the 3Lz combo and the 3Lz from the second combo

I looked up Team Russia news - I hope she withdraws and heals up before Nationals. And if she can afford it, she should also skip Nationals.

sorry for OT

in the last podcast Max & Angelo were arguing that it might have been easier for Med to WD if Polina, her training mate, were the one to take her place...but now it would be a jpn skater, so it might add more external pressure for her not to wd from the final (on top of her own determination to compete, of course, which I think would still be the major reason for her to go)

I'm confused, why would it make a difference who takes her place? Zagitova's most likely to win in Med's absence anyway.

Edit: Thanks Yata, I'll move my question!

We can take the GPF talk here guys, not to use this thread further for those conversations.

And there was also talk of UR in the SP.

ETA: I’m not very good at it either, rely on slow-mo and other people. The Swe commentator was like ”there’s no way she’ll get full rotation for that 3Lo”.

Hm I think I agree with the 3T. 3Lo and 3Lz second combo I think she was juuust clear (it looked just on or a little <90 degrees). All of the jump landings you pointed out, she's hovering around 90 degrees when she lands which is def the grey area. She's definitely not the only lady who gets away with that though... for now, I'm just happy Wakaba is in GPF and that Satton and Kaori weren't too egregiously underscored in PCS unlike in CoC ;;

(it's hard to look via video because the depth perception is so hard to make out! there are moments when it looks like her blade's touched the ice but then the next frame where she's <90 looks like it too)
