Well that went much as you might have expected- got to go and make tea for workmen patching up after the domestic disasters of the last month - will try and get back for ladies

I didn't expect a 80+ score for a performance like that by Papadakis/Cizeron. Gabby was (again) uncertain in two twizzles. The difference between her and Guillaume's skating skills is just too big and even though they absolutely deserve to be 1st here, the gap should be less.

They got 3 points higher here than their PB which they got in France last year. I'm so disappointed. It just makes me think of that Gailhaguet tweet which he tweeted in February...

I agree. I was so surprised when their score of 81+ came out.

I'm not an expert on ice dance of course, but I did not get the feeling of that program being so many points above everyone else today.

Not to mention it's nowhere near the difficulty of execution I've seen from V/M, and it came so close to their (V/M) scores in SC.

 I meant placings - I can't really follow the technicalities of ice dance - I'm sure you're right but that seems par for the course this season - throw marks at people whether they hit the requirements or not.

Their difficulty of execution is not even comparable with V/M's, the Canadians are in the class of their own in everything they do.

V/M skated in Canada and they only got 1.5 points higher there than P/C here, so I wouldn't be surprised if the judges gave the French the new WR in Grenoble.

Virtue/Moir and Papadakis/Cizeron have the same coaches and Marie-France is involved in both couples`choreography. I wonder why would she be making an easier program for PapCiz than to Virtue/Moir.  I see Gabriella as a very strong and expressive skater with great skating skills. Because Guillaume is exceptionally expressive as a male skater and a great dancer, she is not the only one shining there. I was at Finlandia Trophy and saw both their programs there live. I was even more impressed than in Helsinki. Their new FD is a masterpiece imo and SD is stronger than last season. For me they are special because they have their own unique artistry they want to show especially in FDs.

very surprised at the score here. i love this team, they were the best during the time V/M were off, but the scores being so close is just, wow. I know, 2 different competitions, but it would  not surprise me if they get a huge push in their SD all year so that they can be close with Tessa/Scott for the free dance which is where they will be more competitive... i have my doubts that the powers that be would want V/M to be 2 time Oly gold medallists... just as I have doubts that they want Yuzu to be a 2 time gold medallist.... cynical, yes, but possibly true? also yes.

I liked P/C's SD at least it's original :slinkaway: can't comment on scores - don't get the ice dance judging at all
