All those videos, and I don't think the specialist - she's a referee, isn't she? - used the word 'artistry' even once while talking about how Performance Components are supposed to be scored! Somebody send Tara the links so she knows what she's supposed to analyse as commentator, please.

Isn't it funny how the videos about explanations basically said the same things we - just regular folk who got caught up and then wanted to understand - have been saying about scoring? And we were told 'WhO dO yOu ThInK yOu ArE, eXpErTs MaDe ThE dEcIsIoNs, TaKe A sEaT sOrE lOsErS' every time we said any of these things? And now an expert giving instructions to other experts has said the same things? I shall wait for people to start calling this expert a biased Fanyu.

I'm not going to cross post from another platform but there's a post on the figure skating subreddit from somebody who claims to have had a conversation with a judge. Basically claims that what we've always assumed about ISU have preferred skaters they push and a company line judges are supposed to follow are true, and that advancement up the ranks to judge bigger events depends on that. Of course it's just a random comment on the internet, no way to check if it's true or just fiction, but it was interesting, and the very defensive responses were also interesting.

Shanghai Trophy Announcement

This year there'll be both SP and FS unlike earlier + there'll be gala, too.

Medvedeva, Rizzo, Tursynbaeva, Sinitsina/Katsalapov, and Enbert/Zabiiako are already confirmed. It's open to the Top 12 skaters or couples of Worlds 2019 and top 3 of junior Worlds 2019, based on invitations. There'll be 6 men and 6 ladies, 5 pairs and 6 ID couples. I am curious who'll go there because I didn't expect Medvedeva going there.

They don't get points for this competition, only prize money, based on the results.

Huh that's actually not so far away from me, and I used to live in Shanghai so it might be a good excuse to visit. No chance of a certain someone, I would assume, but that's an interesting enough list of competitors to make it worthwhile. If only I had more vacation days.

And more skaters will be added to the list later so maybe it'll be really worth trying to go!

I think we only have the announcements from Japanese and Russian feds with their skaters' assignments.

:thanks:     Info is scarce at the moment.

I was trying to find out who was going to Nebelhorn as might try and go if skaters I like are attending.

List I have so far is:

Jason Brown

Aurora Cotop

Kristen Moore-Towers/Michael Mariano

Koshiro Shimada

Marin Honda?

Evgania Medvedeva

I would actually not count on Evgenia because the list we got didn't have ACI in it at all and it was confirmed she's going to ACI, wasn't it? I think there are ten days between the two competitions so it's possible that she'll do both. But perhaps not highly probable? And that list said she'd also do Shanghai trophy which is barely a week after Nebelhorn.

Anyway it's not updated now but this is the ISU page: http://www.isuresults.com/events/fsevent03111907.htm

Leaving that there so whenever the entries are announced we have the link handy.

I'll wait a bit n check ISU links again as they currently only have participants list up to US Int FS Classic so far.  Not sure re Evgania then.  Info I had came from Team Russia thread but not sure how reliable/up to date it was.

Almost worth going for Jason :img_20:alone!!!  :giggle: xxx

I'm sure there'll be a few more high profile skaters. Wouldn't be too surprised if Shoma turned out to be there.
