Just a quick note.

Worlds Junior does not start on Monday. They may air practices, that I don't know, but the competition starts on Wednesday, the short for Pairs and ID, and the official YT channel for Juniors will livestream it, with Ted commentating!

Definitely not because of any difference in jumps.

What some people consider reasons, others consider excuses. Yuzu has always been acutely aware and careful with what he says to the media. And he is not a complainer. We only every hear of things after competitions.

Yeah he barely says anything about his injuries or being sick until it show up in a interview or a book.

The only reason he talked about this injury cus it broadcast like everywhere and he had to WD competitions for the Olympics. If it wasn’t for the Olympics he probably tried to skate for the Nationals. :headdesk2:

How come Karen Chen and Nathan Chen always complain about boot problems but Ive never heard Hanyu complaining once about his boots????

Ive never heard Hanyu say something about his skating boots or complain about them. Enlighten me why some skaters have problems whilst hanyu doesnt.

Boot fit can be a huge issue but it can also be a scapegoat. IIRC Karen Chen went through 30+ boots in one season and couldn't find a good pair? She might have had a foot injury that made it hard to find fitting boots. But this season she seemed to have solved those issues yet her skating hasn't really improved. So maybe it wasn't the boots after all

Nathan, I think, just jumps too many quads (maybe to the exclusion of other things) which makes your boots break down faster. And I'd give him the benefit of the doubt in that last season he probably just had really bad timing with boots, aka at Worlds his old boots were too soft but his new ones were too fresh.

I'm hearing stuff on twitter regarding the ISU conference and rules changes, and quality cross overs, and windmill dramatic arms to the skies are now considered transtions. I'm dreaming right?

Well, if I go really quiet next season, or have a shorter fuse than normal...you all know why now.

:3: I guess the real message is, we're still going to give generous GOEs to our favorites with no steps preceding their (solo) jumps/quads, but will penalize the rest.

Again, the rich gets richer and the poor gets poorer.

?????????? Are there no figure skaters in that conference? I know most of the governing body are speed skaters but... arm movements and 'quality' crossovers for transitions sound mighty familiar..... :13877886:

It's a sad state of affairs. I remember my old days still in the US, learning how to skate, when Michelle Kwan and Sasha Cohen were dominant, and coaches used to fix all our issues, and asked us to blend artistry and technique. Oh USFSA, how far you have fallen....and in less than 20 years even.

So it’s true. :tumblr_inline_n18qr5AMus1qid2nw: All this BS complaint about artistry instead of quads but this sure sounds like they’re looking to make things easier for certain sQuad members...

So apparently.....it's now  that arm movements with quality cross overs count as transitions, judges can also look at official practice for PCS scoring. Well:

1) I guess everyone better wear their competition costumes at official practice;

2) More swan lakes, or bird themed stuff incoming

3) Foresee fanwars about my skater's crossovers vs your skater's crossovers. Never will have crossovers become so critical in the War for PCSTM

Welp, guess all those fan made videos showing what is good transitions, crossover use ratio etc are now pointless, cause hey, they're all transitions now. I hope at least judges, who have a brain, and some senses, will at least not follow this specific stupid guideline and still give appropriate scores for complexity. I don't mind judges following official practice, but many skaters don't do well at practice, and it would be bad to say because X skater fell in practice, they are not so technically sound, to the degree it negatively affects their scores significantly.

Please tell me this is a joke. :sorrow:  Why not go all out and give them +GOE for jumps landed in practice but not in competition.

This makes no sense. A skater could have great transitions and skating skills in practice if they don't do any jumps. But in competition they could take it all out in order to land the jumps...but they can get points for the transitions they did in practice? And competitions are competitions for a reason! Why not just have everyone do their run-throughs in private, record their best takes, and send it in for judging?

Basically the fact that skaters can use TES to control their own scores doesn't sit well with the ISU. They want to introduce as much bias as they possibly can into the judging. Got it.
