Shoma was always supporting himself with a maximum of one hand at any time, so I guess they just considered it as a very horrible step out with hand down or something.

It doesn't matter though if it is one hand or two, the only point is any body part except for feet supports at least half the body weight. Shomas hand clearly supported more then 50%, so it's by all accounts a fall.

Weird fall/non-fall calls have happened before. Remember when at last Olys this mistake by Zu was called a fall, while the exact same specialists thought this mistake by Pat wasn't? I watched the Olys with 4 friends of mine who have no idea about FS back then and they couldn't stop ranting about how unfair that was, and how happy they were when Zu won after all (mainly for that) there is a certain gray area in between when it might not be clear, but this example is tricky because the difference between Zus and Pats step-out/hand downs/falls is so little, it looks weird they didn't get the same call.

It wouldn't be such a big deal on it's own, but it adds so much to the dissatisfaction with TPs work in general All hail Shin Amano, our only hope and ray of light, may he save us one day!

Article on PChan post-SC. He looked fine to me at the K&C, but the things he said in his post-comp interviews just make me :(

Bitter words from Patrick indeed ... kinda depressing ... I feel sorry for him and his lack of motivation ...

i feel really sad about that, especially for someone who's made so much contribution to the world of skating...

hopefully with some good rest he will find some motivation for the last olys of his competition career...

canada does have a good shot at winning team gold so maybe it will be a good moment to end his last season on...

Must be frustrating for him ... SkC was special to him ... maybe with some rest and a good talk with his team the things will get better :sad4:

Why is Uno"s base value for under rotated quad is  higher by .80 than  Brown?

Second half of the program, it has a 1.1 multiplier.

See the x to the right of the BV? That's what it means.

Don't mind me and my :offtopic:

I find funny how we went from calling our adorkable overlord Yuzuru to Yuzu to Zuzu and now Zu too

Too cute:tumblr_inline_mzx8zzarLt1r8msi5:

Yeah, I know what you mean, but I was probably just trying hard to explain to myself why that happened.

Tally so far

Men
  1. Shoma UNO (JPN) 15
  2. Nathan CHEN (USA) 15
  3. Yuzuru HANYU (JPN) 13
  4. Jason BROWN (USA) 13
  5. Mikhail KOLYADA (RUS) 11
  6. Alexander SAMARIN (RUS) 11
  7. Misha GE (UZB) 9
  8. Patrick CHAN (CAN) 9
  9. Moris KVITELASHVILI (GEO) 7
  10. Jorik HENDRICKX (BEL) 7

I'm so sad while reading PChan's article. He's really struggle between the tech content and  complete program. He just can't skate around, do crossover and jump, its not him. And in an article he said something like he's not good at jumping. I dont know why he had that wrong idea. In term of overall jump technique, he's only behind Yuzu. Doing 4F or 4lz doesn't automatically make you a good jumper. Patrick's triples are bigger than many quads out there. Hope he can find his confident and motivation after this. Patrick is a great competitor, I know he can fight back. I really want to see him skate both of his program to its potential.

I hope it's just the frustration coming from what he sees as his worst skate so far in his career.

And to have it happen on home ice, I guess that must be doubly frustrating for him.

Hopefully he can recover from this soon, and find some motivation again.

I've finally caught up with men's and oh boy ...

I love Jason's FS, but that costume must go

How Shoma scored almost 200points with this performance is beyond me. Lots of two-foot skating, lots of arm movements but little body movements. Tracy called it out and it has to be blatant for Tracy to critisize someone ...

OK, people, am I paranoid or is this possible: Skate Canada wanted Osmond to win, so the tech judge was very harsh in UR calls, because Kaetlyn is less prone to UR than most of other competitors

favourites were both Shoma and Patrick, both prone to UR, so the judges were less strict to UR calls. In fact, less strict is not the right word, more like closing both eyes real tight...

I don't worry about Patrick too much. He always only has one really great skate per season, so it's good he's saving that for the Olympics^^
