Team Spain

Congrats to Javi for his title!:clap:and I've realized only now all the competitors of Spanish Nats ended on podium :tumblr_inline_ncmiffG34Z1rpglid:

Anyway, that stumble in the entry of his first spin in the SP was really weird :peekapooh:And I'm a bit worried about his 4S, since last season it's been almost moodier than Yuzuru's 4S:waffle: He's taken quite a lot bad falls on it:tumblr_inline_n18qr5AMus1qid2nw:as for the FS 3As, I guess they sensed the Overlord of Axels was sad and rushed back to Toronto to offer their comfort. Poor Javi was ditched:13877886:

btw in the FS that voice over "Don Quijote de la Mancha" always makes me grin, I like that part:tumblr_inline_n18qraikFP1qid2nw:

Javi has been struggling for over a year now with his free skates... The last really good FS he skated was at Rostelecom last season, then he also skated well at Trophée de France where he only missed an axel I think...but since then, he's been struggling and he only did well in short programs. He recently said that his energy is already going away, so it could be one of the reasons that he can't really do well especially in the second half of the programs. I really hope that somehow he can get stronger by January and then we'll see what happens at the Olympics where so many unpredictable things could happen. His weapon will be the experience and that he can handle the pressure quite well.

Anyway:

Javi dedicates his eight Spanish title to his family, friends, fans and sponsors :tumblr_inline_nhkf04zUM41qid2nw:

I had been thinking about asking how he usually peaks in the season, thinking it could be a slow start. But hasn’t he also said (after IdF I think) that he has been having great practices? Maybe making the problem more mental than physical? Anyway, this wasn’t what I expected when he decided not to upgrade his layout, but then nothing about the season has been what I expected. :shrug:

I'm worried about him, but that worry may be misplaced. I don't know his peaking pattern that well either, except he often saves his best for the end of the season. I hope it's not an injury or loss of motivation like Patrick. I want the uncles to do well!

Anyway, it only matters at the Olympics, and he has risen to big occasions before. Curious to see what happens at Europeans, because if Kolyada pulls himself together he could win.

The biggest concern might be that his usual verve and performance quality seem to be dialed down. I can see the potential in his programs, but they need more of his trademark charisma to sing.

Ah...not unexpected but sad all the same ;;

I wonder if he's said anything about possibly staying one or two more seasons though?

Not until the next Olympics, but maybe a few more seasons of competing.

Though I read on Twitter he was planning on doing some shows coinciding with the GPS schedule next season,

so maybe if he does compete it won't be for the full season anymore.

Wouldn't be surprised though if he does decide to retire after this season. It seems there's a lot he wants to do esp. for FS in Spain.
