Maybe the reason for that popped loop is because he was way in character during the opening and lost massive energy

That was for the opening number though. I imagine any pair skate would come later, much like Javi's did with Miki (if we can call it that) which means post Chopin. Who knows though, he may choose not to do Chopin during Niigata!
