Your help is highly appreciated! I figured SVO would be a better choice so I am trying to arrange flights. I might have to bother u in the future as I really know nothing about travelling to Russia:embSwan:

You won't be the only one - I am gonna bother people here too (As this will be - if it happens - my first trip to Russia ^^):embSwan:

:sadPooh:None of OP is open to public? Even including sessions on events days? No gala rehearsal neither? God I miss SC now:hachimaki: Looking at the bright side, if OP is not available for watching that could save me some money on hotels; at least I dont have to arrive on Wednessday for Thursday's pratices.

No, they aren't open. So save your money there and arrive in good time for the competition!

Thank you for all the information given to us. I am from Canada.

I would like to go to Moscow for Rostelecom Cup to cheer for Yuzuru before the Olympics in South Korea because the Olympics seem also very difficult for me to go too.

But going to Cup of Russia seems to present many difficulties for me.

Number 1. The problem of visa. How to get a visa? We have to obtain an invitation letter to present to the Embassy to ask for a visa to go to Russia for a skating competition.

Number 2.  How to buy the tickets ?

Number 3. How to get a reservation at a hotel near the arena, or at least easy to get transportation to the arena ?

I would like to go to Moscow for Yuzuru and for visiting the city.

But maybe I have to give up the idea and hope to go to World in Milan in 2018 instead.

It was so easy for me to go to Skate Canada, to GPF in Marseille, to World in Helsinki.

I still keep the hope Yuzuru will go to Autumn Classics in Montreal again in September 2017.

The situation may be different this time, because of Yuzuru and the fact that it will be the Olympic season. My concern is that once they start selling the tickets the Japanese fans will buy them all immediately and I can't get one. But if it happens maybe I could get tickets through resellers, too.

Tickets for RC don't seem to be too expensive, and I doubt that the resellers would want to sell them for unaffordable prices.

I checked the flight prices and they are really cheap. I could buy them first once I know it's not impossible to get tickets for the competition.

Besides the GP tickets, my other worry is how to get around in Moscow if I'll be there alone. I was told that it's not really safe to be there on my own, so I am not sure what to think about it.

Well, we all hope to get tickets somehow))) But resellers can use even double price.

About safety. I dunno, I live near the center and near metro station so it's OK for me. From the arena to the metro there will go a lot of people after competition in the evening. In the center there're also a lot of people in the evening especially on weekend. I think it's just better to have a hotel in the short walking distance from the metro station cuz the end of competition is rather late.

For those who are travelling alone (and those who not) maybe we can organize some meet up)) I also know nice and cheap japanese restaurant (they have udon and rice with pork/vegetables/chicken) in case smb. is interested)))

Better, where on the internet will I find tickets in a few months time, when ticket sales begin?

There're several companies which sell tickets for concerts, sport events etc. So when the time comes I think smb. will post a link here))

Ok, for the first, ticket agency in Russia usually doesn`t get all seats for the first. Sometimes you can get better tickets later, or not. It seems to me that this year Cup of Russia will be popular not just according to Yuzuru, anyway, you can find tickets not for good places at Megasport arena.

All 2** sectors are balcony. Prefered B1-D4. A1-A4 for spormens and so on.

Yes, the tickets can go on sale in parts. Which they will sell first - you never know.

The balcony is high so I wouldn't reccomend it. The short side is good - close enough to the ice. Last year I was in B2 and B3 - the rows in B3 are little closer to the ice then B2, KnC is under B3. So B3-B4 is a good choice if you can't get sector C.

No tickets righn now

Number 3. How to get a reservation at a hotel near the arena, or at least easy to get transportation to the arena ?

booking. com, airbnb, etc

Transport is good from anywhere from Moscow. But 15 minutes to walk to arena from metro station anywhere.

Taxi: Uber is popular, so you are not going to the country of bears and snow - it`s 20 million capital =)

SWO, DME. VKO - it doesn`t matter. 1 hour from center anyway.

Train from airport to center of Moscow less then 10 USD
Taxi from/to Megasport to metro Dinamo station 2-3 USD
Tickets to Megasport from 10 to your fantasy.

Questions? =)

If you are not sure, ask about support, why not =) I`ve ask my friend, what to do with fans... he looks like interested  to support =)

No worries Vadrouille, I am from Canada as well and it would be the very first time for me to visit Russia that we are probably on the same page:consoling2:I aim to work through the whole visa application process in following weeks and would love to discuss and share my experience with everybody. Regarding accomodation I use booking; most hotels can be cancelled free with no prepayment required. The arena is very likely to be MegaSports so try to stay close to the arena if feasible. The only thing bothers me is that there is no direct flight to Moscow from Toronto (I dont believe it but its true) and I hate stopover:xD:

TBH I was more than panicked when first time heard he is going to Russia not just because I bought SC tickets in advance, but I now feel more confident with everybody's help in this thread especially those generous kind-hearted local friends. So keep hope! And if Yuzu goes to Autumn Classics this year which I bet he will, I might see u in Montreal then:free-random-smileys-838:

Thank you Elaine for your encouragement. Good luck for your visa process and for buying tickets.

I would like to learn from your experience.

I will try to go to Moscow for Rostelecom Cup.

Even if I don't have the tickets, at least I can visit Moscow.

Some hotels can send you an invitation letter required for visa. You can contact the hotel you choose and ask for visa support. For example, Petroff Palace Hotel  Scroll down and you'll see "Please note that visa support for foreigners is provided free of charge. In case of cancellation, 2900 RUB will be charged."

Good morning:smile:

I just woke up, caught up on the thread and went to the link for the Petroff Palace Hotel. And then there was a notice, that the last booking was from Japan. So I went into a mild panic and booked a room for two nights.

The first step is taken..

It can be cancelled free of cost, so I will really think about it after some coffee..it is expensive, but near metro!

( and I have no ticket and no flight, but...)

Thank you all for the tips and the help, I am hopeful we will met in Moscow:smile:

Good morning!

Did you check ibis Moscow Dynamo ? It's way cheaper and 700m from Megasport. I just called them they also provide visa support. In case of cancellation, 3000 RUB will be charged.

hi Fay,

Thank you a lot for answering our questions about possible trip to Moscow. I really appreciate your help.

I also plan my trip to Moscow for COR but my condition is a little bit complex. I may have a biz trip in Cologne, Germany so I will probably fly to Moscow from Germany. The airport I will land will be Vnukovo International Airport and according to the website the Aeroexpress train whose terminus is only Kievsky Rail Terminal.

Will the train has another stop to Belorussky Rail Terminal or the route of Aeroexpress train is only "Vnukovo airport - Kievsky Rail Terminal" and "Sheremetyevo airport - Belorussky Rail Terminal"? There is no othe option.
