Last year it was 2 months before, but yeah, not early.

Anyway, if you have any questions I'll try to help (in terms of transport, view at the arena, etc.). It's just that Moscow is a big city and not that I know every corner even if live here)))

2 months would be much better, that's not too early but not late either.

Thanks for the info. I'll definitely need help later

A question - is it hard to get a ticket and around how much do they cost? (A FS competitions viewer newbie asking ~)

It was never a problem to get tickets for me but I always try to buy them from the start of sales cuz we have a lot FS fans, so best rows will be gone maybe not in a few hours but in a few days for sure. Ususally there's one or two official sellers but there're also reselleres who want to make money. Also last year at the start of sales there were not all best tickets, some part of them gone for sale somewhere in a month before the competition. But this year I'll not risk it with waiting anyway.

Last year lower rows on the short side for friday where around 17 euros, for saturday 34 euros, gala was the most expensive. On the long side it was about two times more expensive. Last year the tickets where also more expensive then in previous years, but it's pre Olympic event so we would be lucky if prices stay the same. Don't know about prices at other GP events  (I was only at FGP and WC).

Dunno if these are just for japanese fans but..

I think it's about hotels near arena, it's not like there's much. One official hotel + I've heard there's a hostel nearby.

I hope so.  When the assignments was announced, I thought I would love to go.  But Russia feels a bit far even from eastern europe... but I really want to cheer up for him before Olympics... it is the last chance.

Thanks, Lunna, it's very helpful to have info from a local!  My questions are:

1.  Are the practices open for fans?

2.  Can fans take photos during the event?

Thanks!

@Lunna

Hi Lunna, thanks for the insights. May I ask a few questions if you dont mind? It is really difficult for me to gather information from Russian sites.

1. Is it expensive for taxi in Moscow? I might have to departure from DME airport which is around 1hr driving from the hotel I booked. Or there is a flat fee for airport transportation?

2. How do they sell event tickets? In all-event package or daily ticket or individual event ticket? Are tickets gonna be electronic copy or in mail?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Taxis are... not very expensive if you pre-order them on the phone, but you have to be able to speak Russian, though. More expensive if you get them at the airport. DME is the furthest from Moscow, so it's going to be the most expensive. Tip - there's a fast express train from any Moscow airport during the day time which will take you to the centre of the city and you can get a taxi there, it's less expensive and you don't have to be stuck in traffic jams. What's the hotel you booked, btw?

Fay, thanks for the tip! I believe the hotel name is Aeropolis but need to double check. According to Google map it should be quite close to the arena. For the express train, how much does it cost? Do we need to pre-order the ticket? Is there a time schedule we can check? Apologize for throwing out so many questions:embSwan:

Thanks - I am asking as if I buy a plane ticket I wouldn't want to be there in Moscow with no tickets to the competition ><

But the arena is accessible by public transport, right? I am thinking of just booking some hostel more in the centre ^^

How on earth were you able to get that hotel?Aerostar? It's fully booked now!

The tickets for express trains can be bought beforehand, they work for the whole day, and it should cost around 500-600 roubles - around $10. There are also machines at the airport where you can get tickets. There's one train leaving every half hour, I think. The trip to Paveletsky Railway Station takes 40 minutes. That's the timetable https://aeroexpress.ru/ru/domodedovo.html

You can buy tickets online, as you see - they seem to be cheaper that way. INteresting. https://aeroexpress.ru/en

:embSwan:It is actually Aeropolis. I wanted to book Aerostar way before the gp selection announcement but it was sold out months ago. Thank you so much for all insights given. The express train is definitely more affordable money wise.

Yeah, I can see where it is. There's a direct metro line to where it is, btw. From Paveletskaya to Dinamo, if you're really intent on saving. :) And intent on saving your time too - the centre of Moscow can be grid-locked.

There are smartphone apps like Rutaxi with English interface and option "I don't speak Russian" which also gives you up to 25% discount. And you can check in advance how much money will it take to get to your hotel. Gett and Uber are also available.
