May 31, 20224 yr Yuzu seems more serious in this show than previous years. No goofing around with others, not dancing on the sidelines, no rock and roll slides across the ice, stuff like that.

I would say that previous FaOIs have been similar to this one (I got TV Japan so I have been watching full FaOIs from 2014-2019 ) It doesn't seem like there is a lot of time for goofing around really because they are on a schedule, and Yuzu is something like the master of ceremony of FaOI so he has to keep things moving (different to a gala in a competition). From the live broadcast and the comments of those who have attended FaOI, it looks lke Yuzu is having a very good time!
May 31, 20224 yr @Wintek Maybe I am thinking of gala events when I remember his playfulness, and mixing them up with ice shows. It makes sense that there isn’t much time for playing when he is leading everyone in an ice show. Even if he is serious, you are right that it doesn’t mean he isn’t having fun.

He has to manage so many people's personalities, the media and deal with multiple difficulties. Everyone's expectations post Olympics etc...even for an ice-show, where he felt pressured to produce something memorable and prove that he is OK health-wise would make him stressed. Yes, he looks happy in places but he is a born actor and artist, so he knows he has to act happy and fun, even if he is breaking inside, poor soul.
May 31, 20224 yr I don’t see much difference from his previous FaOI shows. He’s usually very playful in galas of competitions he won, but not necessarily in shows. Also fans should not make assumptions about his feelings and superimpose these assumptions on him. When he appears to be happy then he is happy, not “he has to pretend to be happy”. This purely comes from your own imagination and has nothing to do with him. To me it seems quite unnecessary to feel unhappy for some assumptions made by yourself…

But I will continue to learn it. I've been watching figure skating since I was a kid, but I never bothered to learn how to recognize the jumps until I became a Yuzu fan. I don't know if you've already watched these videos. They're quite good in explaining the different jumps and how to tell them apart. This Tumblr post also explains the jumps quite well: https://the-real-xmonster.tumblr.com/post/161999318744/jumps-explained The way I learned it was to first learn and understand the different jumps and how to tell them apart in theory, then I just tried to recognize every jump when watching figure skating. The introduction of the tech box really helped a lot, since I could try to recognize the jump myself first and then look at the tech box and see right away whether I was right or not.
