I've heard from ID fans that KanaDai have higher scoring potential and Team KoKo are weaker technically. But then many KanaDai fans are assuming that they will skate clean, and KanaDai haven't always been consistent. 6 minutes ago, rockstaryuzu said: But with glitter Oh, I didn't notice the glitter. I just noticed Yuzu vibes.

Even if Japan gets 10 points and the US gets 6 points in the women's segment (both of which are very unlikely), that just evens them up in the points. The first tiebreaker is top two placements, which the US wins. And the US can't catch Russia, and Canada can't catch Japan. The medals are locked. Edit: hang on, that's wrong. If Kaori wins, then its 10/10 vs 10/10 on the tiebreak. And I have no idea what the second tiebreak is supposed to mean, it's super unclear. So... maybe the team event is all ~~~vibes~~~ too. Yeah I don't know either. I'm just along for the ride vibes. 😌

If Karen bombs hard and falls to the bottom, USA will get 6 points, yes? so 58 + 6 = 64 points. If Kaori gets second, JPN will get 9 points, so 54 + 9 = 63 points. So ROC Gold, USA Silver and JPN Bronze is the most plausible scenario. However, JPN would likely have won Silver and hence ROC Gold, JPN Silver and USA Bronze 1) had they sent Muramoto/Takahashi instead of the Komatsubaras, considering the former's scoring potential => JPN scores higher in both RD & FD. or, 2) Kamila bombs so hard (ROC still gets Gold anyway) Kaori gets in first position (+10) AND Karen bombs so hard she gets to the bottom (+6) => JPN: 54 + 10 = 64 USA: 58 + 6 = 64 => Tie break. => Not gonna happen (Kamila in second) because ROC says so
February 7, 20224 yr Considering Kamila and CHN ladies there's very unlikely for JPN to gain that 4 points back and go to tie break. So I'm just here to enjoy the ride *vibes* as well XD
February 7, 20224 yr Actually, if Georgia qualified instead of China, then Japan could get that silver.
February 7, 20224 yr Btw, so much about "ice dance is about reputation" when a team who wasn't on worlds' podium since 2016 outscores reigning world champions. Magic, I guess. EDIT: It means that it's highly suspicious that said team managed to outscore reigning world champions.
February 7, 20224 yr So in love with Chock and Bates. Always really fresh shapes and lines, cohesive choreo/stories these past seasons.
February 7, 20224 yr I like how having a strong pairs team changed things for TJ. That's why Japanese news outlets labelled RikuRyu as the key to the Olympic medal. They almost got silver, too!

In the 1st place, would KanaDai " higher scoring potential" gotten them 3rd in FD? I don't really follow Ice Dance so I'm not sure. It never occured to me Japan could win Silver in Team Event cos they never won any medal before & their Ice Dance pairs have always been the weakest Internationally. But then, I didn't expect USA not to field Alysa Liu in Women's event.

But then, I didn't expect USA not to field Alysa Liu in Women's event. This is from an Ice Dance stan on Twitter So, from my understanding, they could have brought JPN at least 5 pts in the RD (Koko brought 4/10 pts) and 7 pts in the FD (Koko got last place so 6 pts) and that would have been enough to close the gap with the USA. And since JPN would win out on a tie breaker, that could have been a guaranteed Silver. So yes, JPN literally lost the sure chances at Silver by choosing the wrong Ice Dance team to the Olys.
February 7, 20224 yr Japan lost silver, because they willingly sabotage their young id teams by not sending them to international competitions.😗✌ Who would even want to switch ti id when you can count on fingers all local id comps in Japan (including adult ones) and there is zero possibility of going abroad because "they aren't worth going there" (cit.) Hirayama/Tateno had whole two (2) competitions this season. Who would even want to spend time and family's money in such situation? Every country can send 3 teams to 4cc and they never use them because there is no one left with minimum tes.
February 7, 20224 yr Happy for Team Japan medaling, especially for Wakaba, Kaori, Riku/Ryuichi, but the whole team did a really good job. USA worked hard to get that silver, haha, I especially disagreed with placing K/F above Riku/Ryuichi in the SP and yeah..C/B winning over S/K secured them the silver.
