He’s never mentioned any health problems that would require heart monitoring during exercise. (Although, Yuzu being Yuzu, I wouldn’t expect him to.)

Just a simple google search turned up an article that mentioned Kaitlyn Osmond used one in training, and that her heart rate could go up to 200. I can't really provide any in depth information for why it's done in skating, since I only ever did beginner stuff and thus never needed much stamina, but for example, for running I looked at my heart rate to know what pace to run at depending on how long I wanted to run, and for training purposes. For example, you wouldn't aim to have the same heart rate while running if you did a 10k vs a 500m sprint. When you expect to do things in short bursts you can afford for your heart rate to go much higher for a little while (like skating, it's short, only 3-4 min, but it's VERY intense). So, in other words, monitoring your heart rate provides you with a lot of useful information about your limits, how to improve endurance, etc. Like river said, there's never been any evidence that Yuzu wears it for health issues.

I /we cheer for him and cheer for myself /ourselves I think Sadly the world is not always fair but filled with nonsense, bad lucks and ill thoughts/acts that we cannot control or avoid. And the best thing to hear is that he is happy to be Yuzuru Hanyu and proud of what he has done and gone though including good or bad times. He has become even more matured and wise (was already over-matured in the last decade for his age, whether it was 17 or 23 then). While fans try to shed him lights and support him, he is still the one reflecting lights back and shine even brighter. Anyone who has still not yet recovered after HYK and his smiles these few days? It would have been a privilege if I had the chance to walk alongside with the wild young prince starting from junior or early adult stage on his way to the peak. (Quite jealous of those who fell into this rabbit hole early!) Yet I feel lucky and honored to be able and continue fighting with the matured wise caring king to reach higher peaks or dancing gracefully at rock-bottoms or the dark nights, or just doing picnics on some highland plains or forests happily with Poohs... It's so lovely and I 100% agree with with you I also believe that the best is yet to come for Yuzu - as in, he doesn't get what he wants this time because he is destined for something better and greater. Ditto on not knowing about Yuzu earlier, I want to experience Sochi and PyeongChang too, but it's never too late to support him

But I realised when I copied the link to another browser to watch, I can then right click to save video and the link I pasted above does allow that.
