Even if Yuzu skated clean, they'd still give Nathan the SP WR and say 'oh but nathan has harder quads with higher BV in the short than Yuzu so it's justified'

Do you have a vpn you could try to use for 7plus? https://7plus.com.au/winter-olympic-games-beijing-figure-skating

Spoiler not to be the party pooper, but I remember that Rai commentators were all fawning over N and his artistry last I heard 🙄 which was at least a couple years ago. If I found their commentaries mostly useless before, I just couldn't stomach it when they jumped bandwagon together with everyone else. Rai should be the bigger broadcaster, so in theory they'd reach a borader audience, tho tbh I'm not even sure what kind of coverage Rai is doing, I haven't even bothered searching, between having a perfeclty functioning vpn, the unpleasant rai commentary and their the PyeongChang betrayal (they didn't show the Men's FS live, hence I had to scramble for a terrible glitchy pirate streaming instead. I'll never forgive them). Well, the good thing is that IMO Rai commentary won't be able to do much damage anyway, between the nightly schedule and no Carolina. Most people watching FS will be people who are already somewhat into it, so with some prior knowledge, and anyway I bet general audience would rather latch onto elegant russian ladies doing quads, rather than onto a US dude who lands the same jumps but looking way less pretty Sometimes people's superficiality is comforting. Anyway, I may dislike Max for some things, but, just like Pluschenko, he's actually one of the few voices who didn't drop Yuzuru like a hot potato the moment the US Anointed One came to be. I haven't written in this thread since after I left right after Yuzuru's skate yesterday. I have coped with my very complex emotions sending out my encouragment on twitter, marvelled and awed at his combo and 3A, stsq, spins, hands, crying over Tsuzuki sense's and Plu and Shizuka and Nobu's support, over the outpour of love from fanyus, fumed a bit about scores, being snarky with oly channel and ISU (but not nearly as much as I would have back in 2019. That's how dulled my overall feelings towards FS have become). Enjoyed seeing Zu's costumes appreciation otside of the fs bubble (possibly birnging new bb fanyus because some are bound to get curios, and watch a program, and there's rarely a come back from that). Read all the translations, watched the subbed vids, went form relief to oh no as more fragments came out and more detail of Yuzuru's words were clarified. Also downloaded all the pics and vids I could, of course. Now I'm here again and idk exaclty what to say. I meant to be encoutraging but now I'm actually writing it's not as easy Somehow I still feel a bit numb. I haven't really cried, the thing thing that actually made me release that kind of emotions was seeing the FS layout and realizing that Yuzu is just, always... Yuzu. Acceptance came easier than I thought, tho not without sadness. Where I come from, what happened with that poor quad Sal is what we'd call "spurchia" (not italian, it's dialectal. It means bad luck). Yuzuru has gotten us so used to miracles, but he's also had some incredibly tough luck. I hoped that after Stockhlm and the November injury the Universe would stop messing with Yuzuru, but instead, of all the times to lose a whole jumping pass, it happened at the darn OWG It feels the worst joke and I wanna punch the Universe, especially after Yuzuru has been so consistent with every fs and in such a good condition in practice. The fact it was sheer bad luck is both a consolation and incredibly frustrating. I hope Yuzuru can really shrug it off and that 4S will avenge itself in Tenchi. I only wanted Yuzu being happy with his skate, I wasn't even really asking for a WR (tho certainly I rooted for it). I just wanted Yuzu to have no regrets. Well, f*ck. But then I also thought that just a few days ago I was literally shaking and losing sleep and feeling oppressed as we waited for his arrival, because I was scared sh*tless that Yuzu had gotten another injury and wouldn't even appear in the games. So I'm kinda counting my blessings, because while all of this sucks big time, at least Yuzuru is there and seem to be in good enough form. I'm glad that Yuzu sounds as if he isn't beating himself too much -- tho who knows how he really feels deep down. But I really need the ice to stop making things so hard for Yuzu. How dared you, ice-chan? You'll better go back to loving him ASAP The only other programs I caught live were those by Deniss and Mozalev, and in the end they are the only once I'v ewatched. When things like that missed jump happen, every other skater I like might have the skate of their lives, but all of them put togheter can't still possibly even come close to compensate for Yuzuru. A single unfortunate pop killed any all my interest in the competition, so I have 0 desire to catch up with any of the other programs. But still I want to say congrats to Donovan and Jun Hwan and to Boyang pulling himself together in some measure👏 I've rewatched Yuzuru's SP several times. It's beautiful, as beautiful as only a Yuzu program can be. In a way, I feel for it like for WTT21 Tenchi, that one too with a freak salchow pop. The difference is, of course, that that was just WTT, and this is OWG, so it's unavoidable this feels so much worse. But I also think how Beijing wasn't even in Yuzuru's plans, not 4 years ago, not even 1, and possilby not even till Nats, a little more than one month ago. I think that he got injured and sick in November and we didn't even know for sure he'd be recovered by now. Yuzuru has been kinda yoloing not only his programs and layout but also his "will to win" in these Games, so I find some relief thinking that this is not PyeongChang, and sitting in 8th place going into the FS is not as crushing at it could have been (in a way, it makes PC feel even more miraculous. Because this could have happenend then. And then what?) Judges are terrible as usual, and their scores here were just the natural prosecution of Saitama, Turin and Stockholm. With how good PyeongChang had been in almost all disciplines, and how terrible the last quad (in all disciplines) it was unlikely Beijing would be as good, nad it is indeed proving to be a dumpster fire, aside from Kaori&Waka&M/K's medals. Yuzu saying he felt lucky getting 95, which is still ridiculously underscored compared to certain other scores in the field, makes me think that, while he's not doubting his own worth anymore in general, he still doesn't gives himself enough credit. But he's always been the strictest judges of his own skating, and that was made him move forward. I hope his mum gave him the biggest and warmest hugs back in their hotel, and that Yuzuru can face practices and the fs refreshed, calm and brave.
February 9, 20224 yr This cruel twist of fate that resulted in Yuzu popping the 4S is definitely a bitter pill to swallow. I kept typing in the wrong login and/or password that prevented me from signing in earlier to share my thoughts after the event. Now that I’ve calmed down, I'm very relieved he's fully aware what happened is beyond his control and he's not beating himself up over it. I love the fact that Yuzu is switching on the defensive mode, not backing down but instead challenging head on the 4A (regardless it’s ready or not, but please stay healthy). It requires immeasurable courage, mental strength, fighting spirit, extreme self-belief and passion, exhibiting traits of a great champion and warrior. Yuzu may or may not medal at this Olympics but deep in many of our hearts, he has already emerge as the champion athlete with his fight story. I have no doubt he will end it in a dignified, Yuzu way. He has my immense admiration and respect. May he have the best/most satisfying FS performance of his career on Thursday

After the stressful days of last week I'm just grateful we can see him here and cheer for him and hope he is safe. We still don't know how injured he is after all. We will hear more from him after the Olympics not just about his condition but him preparing for this competition since JNats. The pop was so unfortunate and it was so sad to see it happen because it's the Olympics not some other competition. But sadly nothing can be done about it - when it had to happen then at least it happened while he is already 2-time Olympic champion and it didn't happen at Pyeongchang, for example. Thank you for expressing your thoughts and to anyone who shared their feelings yesterday. We all cope with it differently, and that's okay. I don't have much valuable to add other than I hope Yuzu is okay (especially today's practice), and let's cheer for him as always. He certainly feels that we support him. 3 hours ago, Harutolama said: I can't believe we have only 24 hours left until we have to go through that entire Rollercoaster of emotions again. I will be sweating from Yuzu's 6 min warmup straight till Nathan's performance and score announcement. I have never felt so tense about a game because at PC 2018 I knew Yuzu was going to win after his SP. But this time I really know he has a slim chance at OGM so I'm so tensed up. Remember at 2018 Olympics Nathan skated a different FS jump layout than what he put forth? Maybe Yuzu has that trick up his sleeve 🤔... I get a feeling maybe he might skate a different jump layout too. I am tensed only because of his health not because he has a chance for gold or not. Gold is out of question anyway so there's nothing to worry about that medal.
