Thanks to the no commentary version of Yuzu's SP, I finally watched it and I am really impressed with how good he looked. Freaky accident with the stupid hole aside, everything else was great. Yuzu has never looked better and this program is so lovely.

Also, he didn't look upset at all. He kinda laughed at himself a bit at the end, so I am a bit reassured that he is not in a bad mental state. Hopefully the people around him help him keep that attitude so he can continue the way he was going because I believe that he has everything under control. 

 

I know this is an unpopular opinion but after seeing him in such a good condition I really want him to continue skating for a couple more years. He has so much more to offer and I don't think he peaked yet.

Now that I've calmed down and collected my thoughts, I find it funny how casual and possibly nonchalant he looked in the interviews. God knows what's going on his mind, we're his fan and we're gutted, I cannot imagine the state he's in. But as I've said before, I really admire his confidence (and subsequently his state of mind). If Yuzu can be brave and put on a smile, so can we. I'm not advocating toxic positivity here, I've only just recovered myself from that crushing blow. I want to support him and that's what I will do, and I will keep trying to find the silver lining here 

Out of all the skates at Sochi, I think Mao's free left the deepest impression. So medals really aren't everything as far as Olympics legacies go (not that Yuzu doesn't already have an amazing one with 2 golds). Granted, Yuzu still has good hope of making podium, so fingers crossed for that at least.

I feel conflicted. On the one hand, I'm really, really done with the bullshit scoring, and I don't want Yuzu to end up with any more life long injuries that he may or may not already have. On the other, I do think he can still achieve a lot more (honestly, not even caring about the medals at this point, just in terms of athletic achievements regardless of scores). He can get the 4A, he can land 4F, and I want to see multiple beautiful 3A3Los in the future. He does look better than at any point in the past.

Absolutely. Screw results, screw titles, I wanna see Yuzu continue to skate. Land the 4A. Hell, land a 4F and become the first skater to land all 6 quads. Throw a quint in for good measure 😂. I dont care about scores. I just wanna see him continue to push himself 

So, I had my additional 3 hours of sleep after Yuzu’s skate and it helped. Didn’t even watch the rest of the men.

 

I did feel anger after that pop, stomach had dropped to my feet and my lungs deflated like an old balloon but having slept it off gave me a new start.

 

Am I surprised at Nathan’s score? No. So I have decided to stop watching any other FS from now on unless Yuzu is skating. I don’t need the salt, I don’t need this circus, I’m going to ignore the media and Twitter because they do what they do best, which is a putting out a narrative that suits them best. I’m better than that and I’m sure that Yuzu has learned to block out all of that too.

 

And while I’m not blocking anyone in here, I will skip any comments where I see at first glance any mention of unfair scoring, Nathan, and so on. I get we are all frustrated but I think we reached a point where if we have enough time to moan and cry about it we should be making better use to try and really, and I mean REALLY change it. Someone posted a tweet the other day from a journalist giving his email out in case something needs investigating. Did anyone lift a finger and did so (yes me included)? Our attitude towards this is not helping in any way. It’s like hating your job but staying in it for years being miserable just for your pay check.

 

It’s clear that Yuzu didn’t care less about winning here. His one and only goal is to jump that beast and that’s what we as fans should also focus on.

eh FS was getting boring anyway and tbh I only watched for him. Hope usfsa is able to cash in on NC's win bc nobody has been buying SOI tickets since the Kwan era.It's all so boring nowadays but welp I'm finally free to enjoy something else. I do wish for an extremely chaotic, mess of a free for everybody else and I hope it's worse than sochi

I'd love to see Seimei honestly. Unlikely, given that it's at the Olympics and he's about to potentially lose his title, but it's one of my all time fave skates of his. I wanna be taken back under that spell

It's so heartwarming to see the huge amount of support Yuzu got today. It was a proof that we don't like him for his medals, we love him for his skating and the person he is. I hope he knows how much he is loved and respected. Continue to shine Yuzu
