Hi fellow fanyus, I just wanted to drop some lines here to share my feelings with you. I woke up in the middle of the night just to watch Yuzu's performance, closed my eyes for the second after salchow mistake and then enjoyed the beautiful, peaceful and perfect rest of his routine. Even with such a difficult opening he was able to produce the magic right to the end. let me imidiately abandon all "competition related thoughts" and take me into the story. There's no other skater like him and I guess never will be, surely not soon, at least for me, no matter how many points others will get. I didn;t continue to watch, went back to sleep and only check the result in the morning. Maybe I'll catch up later, as there are many other skaters I like and they did well, but to be honest, I have no feelings to the competition aspects at all. I'm just so grateful that I once again have a chance to watch Yuzu on the ice  bringing his highest available form and efforts. For me, points do not matter this time. He could have left in the glory 4 years ago, but still gave us those another 4 years to experience his skating. And -I think - personal cost of that for him was much higher, than the previous years of training. I truly appreciate that. For now, my attitude is to watch his performances, focus only on that, enjoy that as a tribute to my all time most inspiring athlete and unique person and ignore all the factors that can distract me (like commentary, media coverage etc.). Maybe in the future, after some rehab :P I will be able to come back to watch and enjoy men field holistically, but for now, as long as Yuzu is still competing, I don't have so much space in my heart to focus on others, sorry not sorry :P I wish him good recovery and hope he can go for the free in the good form and high spirit and produce the skate he can be happy with and let us be in the same place with him. Once again, so glad to see him skate!

Same thought:2thumbsup:

I hate to say it but I've been a bit soured on Yuma over the course of this competitions. He's an incredible skater with lots of potential, and a lovely young man, but I'm never going to be able to enjoy his skating I think because of the scoring craziness even though it isn't his doing. It's not that I don't like him, I really do, but I'm forever going to have this lens of 'why are you being scored like this' lingering in the back of my mind now. God damnit ISU, unfortunately my stupid little neurodivergent brain won't be able to look at Yuma (or several other skaters for that matter) and wholeheartedly enjoy their skating now.

I really feel like in cases like this, where it's very clearly not the fault of the skater, there should be precedence to alter the score such as adding the BV of the jump on to the skaters program score. But, as always, under the current judging methods, there's no way to implement such measures without it being abused by skaters in the name of points

I don't think that this is a fair solution either, because you basically hand out candy BV which the skater might not be able to get under regular circumstances.

A fair solution would be to allow the skater to do a second performance at the end of the event, with the criterium that the previous score will be deleted, even if you perform worse than before. Of course, you must prove that the mistake resulted from the hole and it's not your own fault.

The ideal solution would be to monitor the ice and fix all holes after every performance while the skater's waiting for the scores.

This might take some time, but would ensure more safety for all skaters.

If he skates his program layout entirely clean including 4A, BV is just over 98. Aka, he could rightfully and easily break 220. But the judges ain't gonna let that happen

Actually if the miracle of a clean program with a 4A did happen (though I think unlikely with olympic pressure) I think Yuzu might win. But that is too much of a movie scenario to believe at this point. I'm not hoping for a film script type of miracle. Just a bronze would be good enough. Although I think if he dropped 4A then it might be possible.

honestly, why not just a do-over :sadPooh: like, make them prove there's a hole in the ice so people won't abuse it. this just feels unfair

Yeah no both of these are more logical and simply didn't occur to me for some reason, although I do think it would be extremely stressful for the skater to essentially do two programs almost back to back

I just saw the tweet of Meagan and I know she never liked Yuzu but damn, calling Nathan artistry and saying he pays attention to details is just a punch in the face. Especially coming from an expert.

People like Meagan are the reason why FS will never be a fair sport. She goes "woke" only for her very few favorite skaters. Nathan's PCS were not justifiable at all today.

Oh this hasn't come on my TL but I can believe it, yep I feel there's gonna be lots of it from different so called experts over the next wee while

Whenever I look at his IN and SS scores I cry internally. Who's giving him 10s and W H Y his programs are so flipping flat I wanna fall asleep while watching them. He's so stiff too

I'm trying to find transitions in his program and some deep edges but I can't. But this is what ISU, racist north American skaters deserve. Did you notice the skaters today were mostly "landing" jumps but nothing more? The trend that is set by such experts is the reason why FS is going downhill.

Y e p look, I didn't watch everyone (had a hospital appointment for first two groups and had to take a rage break after Yuzu) but the only people I truly enjoyed were Yuzu, Jun and the roughly one minute of Jason that I saw. Oh, and the young Mexican lad whom I forget the name of and Aymoz weren't bad but weren't something that will exactly stick in my head. As for Nathan God damn are his programs forgettable.

Like, again re: Nathan, outside of his famous Olympics SP fiasco, does anyone remember distinctly any single instance of him performing one of his programs that has stuck with you? I barely ever manage to make it through a whole program of his without just clicking off, but the ones I have seen literally just all meld together, which certainly can't be said for Yuzu

I was so stressed before and after his skate I failed to take note of how seriously beautiful he looks :YuzuPoohLove: his hair is cute

and Yuzu’s doing the 3A-3lo combo for the free??? We win :68556365: I cannot believe we’ll get to see the best combo in practice then in the free. But tbh 3A-eu-3s/3t is my fav combo it’s so lengthy

idek what has been shared need to look bk but
