The interesting thing will be to see whether the judges will react by scoring Tutberidze's skaters fairly or even strictly from now on. Will they be called on their pre-rotations, will Trusova be called on her skating skills tomorrow, will Kvitelashvili jumps be scrutinized and called at worlds, and so on.

Of course not.

To do that would be to admit that they’ve been overscoring, and once that can of worms is open, a great many people will be at risk…..so it won’t happen.  The old agreements will hold on that point.

Honestly, at this point I feel like Kamila is going to be booed out of the rink...the fury among skaters is very real (as it should be)

I don't wish Kamila any harm, but she must be keeping cotton in her ears and only listening to Eteri not to realize the seriousness of the situation. Sounds like she believes she's innocent (sure, she is a minor who was given an illegal substance by an adult who should be looking out for her) but I really think if she knew just how upset her fellow competitors and retired skaters felt she would feel the need to pull out of the competition. She has no bright future in skating if she keeps on the bad side of other skaters. Only Russia will see her as a hero but that's probably all that matters...

I mean, realistically for her the Russian perception is indeed what matters, since that's where all her future opportunities are going to be post-retirement. And the Russian market is big enough that she doesn't necessarily need anything more. I don't know how good her English is, and if it isn't good she may not really be aware of what is being said in English (or any other language).

Although, either way, they shouldn't have her talk to media. Can't see what good could possibly come of it.

I wasn’t going to watch the lady’s SP at all but now I will (and only because its at a decent hour where Iive). I’m curious to know how this will affect the entire female discipline and the reason for it is not entirely innocent :emoticonaci2019_2:

My hope is that some judges will go this way and some the other and in the confusion they expose their own shitshow

So, Valieva can compete, but the IOC ask that a 25th skater qualify for the free? And no medal ceremony if Valieva podiums? And, if I'm interpreting correctly, given given the case is ongoing, Valieva could win an individual medal but it could still be stripped later if the case outcome is negative? This is honestly spiraling into such a confusing situation, I'm struggling to accurately keep up a little.

My initial thought on the CAS verdict was, did ROC have a grip on CAS as well?? :knc_brian3:

Alright, fine, I got not wanting to traumatize Kamila by suspending her from competing, but don't they see the possible impact that decision could have on the rest of the competitors (and the rest of the women's FS field)?? Talk about being unable to read the room... :animated-smileys-halloween-012:

Oh yeah, that's entirely possible. Imagine GOE ranging from -5 to +5 on the same element, LOL.

But on the other hand, I expect a dark twist after that: those that went "the other way" get penalized for "judging bias against ROC skaters".

If they have turned a blind eye on this for years, I don't expect something new overnight.

The logic with Valieva's situation, per those in charge, is this.

1. She might be innocent.

2. If she might be innocent, let her compete. Who would want to ruin the gold medal chance of an innocent 15-year-old. Right?

She'll compete, it takes 6 minutes or so, it doesn't affect anyone else (other than their standing and of course, their mental health).

Then, we'll adjust the results accordingly.

3. Oh the result adjustment? It will take months, if not years, and by then everybody has forgotten everything, and Valieva is still the champion.

4. You have issues with that? Rough, we're in charge.

Now, what's needed is for ALL ATHLETES TO BOYCOTT THE EVENT. Seriously.
