It's still Christmas Eve here, but Merry Christmas to my fellow satellites! I woke up to watch the stream for Olympic team announcements and then went back to sleep (now that the semester is over my body is making me catch up hardcore).  I just got back from doing some last minute shopping so there's nothing better to do than to make my holiday egg nog, kick my feet up, and maybe play that Final Fantasy XV DLC that's been nagging at me.

Idk what is the best but Yuzu stated before that he could do the old layouts of Chopin and Seimei easily. So, I’m just wondering if he would just do that instead of his super upgraded version of both programs??? I know he hates playing safe but considering his current situation, to be able to perform clean programs for his 1st comeback competition, which unfortunately happens to be the Oly, I wouldn’t call the old layouts as playing safe. And he did hit WR for Chopin at ACI, so not doing the super upgraded version sounds good to me...

It’s Yuzu. Unless he - god forbid - injures himself further, he won’t go back to his old layouts. ‘Playing safe’ for him rn is likely going back to his 4 quad Helsinki layout. ‘Medium safe’ is if he’ll do his adapted 5 quad layout w/o 4Lz and ‘high risk’ is if he’ll keep pushing for the 4Lz.

 

As much as I believe he wants the gold, Sochi has proved his ideal skate wins out. I don’t believe he’d play conservative or sacrifice his ideal purely in order to win - he’s got his ‘imperfect’ gold already. And we’ve seen an easier layout won’t necessarily be clean

I'm resigned to the fact that if I'm not having a heart attack, it must not be a real Yuzu competition.  He has to stay doing the most.  Helsinki has me trained like a monkey.  Part of me is kind of glad they skate back to back to get it out of the way, but then I know that's harder on them with no break period.

I think the alternative may be current Seimei layout where 4Lz is replaced by 3Lz. The thing is not only if he can get into shape for 5 quad layouts but also if he can put the added strain on his ankle both a 4Lz and 4Lo would bring... at least in time for Olys. He may need to save 4Lz for Worlds because of lack of time to practice it?
