You know the phrase shooting yourself in the foot? That's JSF if they don't send Yuzuru to Olys, except it won't be shooting a foot, it'll be blowing off their entire body  JSF is incompetent, not stupid ... which cant be said for those people screaming unfair and injustice. Which speaking of which, funny how the exact same merit criteria was used to bring Takahashi to Sochi 3 yrs ago and no one complained, but Yuzuru????? Getting equal treatment??????? F*CKING BLASPHEMY

People complained through the roof about it. Some still do. Just read the GPF ladies SP thread in that other place when a discussion about how to determine, who among the Japanese ladies will be getting the two spots on the team, broke loose. Some people still bring up how they think it was unfair that Daisuke was chosen in 2013 as an example. Which it of course wasn't, because he met all of the selection criteria (except for his placement at Nationals) and was the most accomplished skater out of those three in contention for the 3rd spot, the same way as Yuzu does and is. There is no question Yuzu deserves it just as much as Dai did and he will be chosen, there's absolutely no doubt about it. It has more or less already been confirmed. I don't get why there's even an ongoing discussion about this anywhere.

Sorry to be coming out of lurkdom for this, but for me this is such an upsetting déjà vu, exactly because the current situation and so-called "controversy" resembles the one in 2013 so much. People just seem to enjoy complaining without employing reason or logic and everyone gets their share of it. Sadly that's how it works.

Will he go to the Olympics despite not competing in nationals?  Yes.  As was pointed out, the JSF might be incompetent but it's not stupid.  It also, I feel, shares the Japanese dislike of losing face.  If the JSF did not send the world-ranked number one men's skater, the holder of all three of the major scoring records, the one who has set a total of 12 scoring records, the two-time World Champion and two-time World silver medalist, the reigning Olympic champion and currently the most popular skater in Japan, not to mention the rest of the world,  and who is the one male skater today who might legitimately claim the GOAT,  well it would look totally ridiculous in the eyes of every other skating federation and every other skating fan.  The JSF does not want to look ridiculous.  Yuzu's in, don't worry.

Btw, if Yuzu does express an interest in going to 4cc and his team approves it, will JSF approve is another question. What's the criteria for being named on the team? I'm sure Yuzu will probably meet it, but the salt level of antis if he does get named to both the Olys AND 4cc (and maybe Worlds too).

Oh man, I stopped with reading ladies' threads in *the place that must not be named, especially if the Japanese ladies are involved since it's all just the Miayahara hate fest + European/N.A. girls are better anyway so it doesn't better, so I didn't see that. Anyway, the "controversy" is just an idiotic arsehole being an idiotic arsehole, like you said. Best to ignore every word that place ever utters.

But since we're talking politics, Yuzuru == (views + $$$) + no angry fanyu army ready to skewer JSF alive.

His antis can go drag themselves into the back of a dark dank alley, cry and bash their heads with trash can lids for all I care.

No really- the fact that Yuzu is a great skater is commonly acknowledged in the FS world, commentators, other coaches alike. He is generous to a fault to his rivals/competitors, and above all, more nitpicky about himself than all of us combined. He is probably the closest we've seen to perfection in men's skating in recent times, and those antis are just not happy about it for one reason or another--and this is a broad dislike, not just Yuzu, it's just towards anyone that is touted as better than their personal fave.

As for rabbits, well there are some crazy ones-who added catnip to the carrot diet?

It's not just fanyus, most of the japanese public would be surprised if Yuzu isn't chosen. I mean...the North American equivalent would be if someone of Michelle Kwan's artistry and Rika's 3A in the current US ladies field, had to skip nationals because she caught a terrible flu right during Nationals. The USFSA would figure out some crazy way to get her to Olys, especially if she held ya know, 3 WRs that no one in the past 2 years has managed to beat yet. It'd be suicidal not to.

Dear Yuzu, please just slowly practice crossings like this , not defying gravity jumping quads yet !

i can watch these crossings all day

This is what he's going to have to start with, though with less speed and more care, because his right ankle is going to have to recover the agility and strength it had to sustain those edges and ankle bends.

I was just gonna say, that’s pretty advanced stuff with lots of strength and control. The weirdest thing with injuries, for me, is how even when it actually stops hurting in the beginning the muscles are like ’nope, not gonna do that’ and suddenly your falling from you balance board. Or maybe that’s just me.

So much people thinking he won't go to Olympic.

Are you good? Is your brain fine? Do you want me to help fix it for you? Perhaps a lecture with common sense would be good?

JSF. SHOULD. JUST. ANNOUNCE. HIS. NAME. IN. THE. LIST. BEFORE. NATIONALS. AND. SHUT. THESE. PEOPLE.

THEN. WE. CAN. JUST. LIVE. ON. WITH. THEIR. COMPLAINS.

I don't even care if I have to see a single frustrating comments about the 'unfairness' as long as I get to see his name in black and white for Team Japan.

Sorry for the rant. Blame all the rabbits :carrot_:

The rabbits is not good for Yuzu's health.
