Sorry, it's hard to keep up with the forum, and it's probably already been posted - but I just found the translation of Brian's interview for rsport.ru, and thought it was super interesting - and maybe other people like me missed it too : http://fs-gossips.com/brian-orser-hanyu-is-focused-on-winning-the-olympics/

I missed it, thank you so much!

That's a very very interesting look on some of the inner workings of the TCC. I think it's a mark of an excellent training centre to think of employing a psychologist just for the purpose of reducing stress in the Olympic year. Not that Yuzu would ever make use of one, he'd have to speak English more... Yuzu's big on self-reflection, though so maybe...?

The juxtaposition of Yuzu vs. Javi attitude towards training was interesting. For Yuzu the falls and frustration are part of training, for Javi it's self-torture. (I really hope this won't backfire on Javi because while Javi may not need quad Lutz, he will need the Loop because even clean skate with just Toe and Sal may lock him out of podium even if other top dogs make some mistakes).

By the sound of it, Yuzu is driven to a fault. I hope Brian keeps a close eye on him and and cools him down every now and again.

What if they both quit?

:lmao:

Until that quad jumping 12-year is ready to take on the world.

if everyone skates clean, javi will medal with a clean skate with only 3 quads. but if he makes a mistake, he's done. :/

That is debatable now. With Shoma and 7 quads and Nathan and 8 or 9, even a clean Javi may get in trouble. When he dumped the 4Lo he really put himself in a position where he is not the only one who decides even if he's clean.

Strategically I also believed Javi should jump the 4Lo. However, if he added it without true conviction and desire, it would only backfire. The tale is not yet told—what Shoma and Nathan are doing is so risky we don't know if they will succeed. What happened at the Japan Open can happen again. Javi must be satisfied with those odds. In retrospect, his best chance was Sochi. But given how everyone skated, I was happy to see the bronze go to Denis Ten.

Absolutely and not being a risk-taker probably works for Javier mentally, unlike Yuzuru who is the opposite. It's good to stick to your strengths. It also must be interesting for Brian to yo-yo between two such different personalities. If Cha makes it, he'll have to try and shelter the little guy too, considering that home pressure.

Is this what they call it these days?

I like to think I'll become a figure skating veteran after Yuzuru r******, like I will still be around appreciating the sport and its athletes because Yuzuru made me a fan of it. But I don't ever see myself favoring another skater as did with Yuzuru, that's for sure.

I used to feel incredulous and amazed at my friends’s passion and  their fandoms because I had never been a fan of anyone, I mean I understand the general feeling but just don’t get the level of intensity or passion until I was pulled into the gravity of Planet Hanyu:joy:.  Now I’ve experienced all the roller coaster emotions and heart palpitations and mood changing during the season, missing him in off season, I mean,  knowing Yuzu evokes lots of deep and intense feeling that I’m not aware of before , and I’m loving it . I learn to never say never before but this I know for sure , I will never be this crazy fan for anyone else but Hanyu who never ceases to amaze me with his personality, his dorkiness , his talent , his perseverance,.....seeing him live in ACI is magical:sadPooh:

People are lucky that at CoR, somehow I did not see Yuzuru on the same floor as mine. I was looking down on him on the 2nd floor and I am scared of height. Or if we're on the same floor I might strangle him like this for all his stubbornness lol. funny-angry-face-meme-i3.png

I admire your overcoming scare of height for Yuzu:joy:

im still impressed his suit looks good for once

I've always thought the reason why he did not get suits that fit was because he did not want to invest in suits until his body stopped changing. Now, he has probably stopped growing taller and is satisfied with his muscle mass, so the suits we see him in the future may fit better.
