“Hanyu, with his ice skates still on his feet, barely had time to evacuate the building before the waves struck.” 

I think they overdid it with drama here - the ground shaking for good five minutes would have been enough to scare anyone. The waves didn’t strike that place, luckily, as far as I gathered.
