  1. Oooh, I mistook a counter for a 3-turn and totally bypassed the change of edge. That's what I get for trying to guess when I have no idea what I'm doing xD At least I can distinguish the twizzles tho! He worked hard for them, amirite (re: twizzle sandwich 3A swan)
  2. Let's hope it's not going to go on until August
  3. I really like 4L3T. I don't know in what condition his training might be though. I've been linked with this beautiful gif from NHK 2016.
  4. In fact, I can't wait to see the new Chopin's perfected Step Sequence (I kinda wish he brought back some elements of the original Step Sequence, they were so on point with the music). Yuzuru's Skating Skills are as high as ever, right now. LGC was a program out of everybody's league. So I bet Chopin 3.0 will be just as hard - and maybe something more.
  5. ù Sorry, this totally made me think of Yuzuru xD
  6. Totally unrelated to anything, but regarding layouts: Anyone knows what specific step is the one Yuzuru does after his 3A in this new Chopin's SP? Is it a simple 3-turn, with an arms movement coordinated with it? Well, I guess I shouldn't call it simple, since it's with the landing foot of the 3A xD
  7. (Btw we still have to actually see others getting within that 110 range, the only one who came close this season was Javier, at the end of the season!) EDIT: Altie kinda beat me to it! xD
  8. I'm the kind of person who makes memes with paint, so I won't expect fancy graphics from anyone
  9. If you'll do it, you'll be my hero! I'm terribly slow at these things. xD
  10. It would be interesting to study the average GOE points Shoma, Nathan and Boyang get. Without taking into consideration whether or not Shoma's cheated jumps may get called next season. Maybe confronting GOE will help us give meaning to all this BV versus BV discussion, and give it perspective :)
  11. Not bad at all! And I do think that he would get +3 GOE's if he managed to skate the SP clean for 3, 4 times in a row. Which is what he did with PW, and why he managed to break world record after world record. My guess is that your calculations could be a very realistic first time, or second time clean skate for next season :)
  12. THIS. No judge in a classical musical competition would ever even DREAM of 'penalizing' or underscoring a competitor only because they brought - say - Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto in D major. Or Tchaikovsky's Piano concerto no. 1. Or if a singer brought Der hölle rache. No matter how may times they've heard it that day/week/their whole life.
  13. Right... last year, Patrick did his SP on "Revolutionary Etude", if I'm not mistaken. But I didn't like it very much. Patrick can be amazing at interpreting, but I don't think he fit with Chopin a lot, probably because of the reason someone (I think meoima) explained yesterday in another topic: culture. She also explained some similarities Chopin (as a person) and Yuzuru shared, so I guess it's a strange, but perfect partnership between them. I guess I understand why some people might not approve of the "Prince" -box- in which to put Yuzuru. But I don't think it's anyone's intention to put him in a box, it's just that it's so hard to try the right words to describe a performance like Chopin's. Imo, LGC, too, is an out-of-the-box performance - no, out of this world. There's just nothing else to compare these performances with.
  14. I agree, I actually thought about this a little and I think I'd give a 70% probability of someone breaking Yuzuru's WR (let's say that in that 70% there is also Yuzuru included). Mmh... I think it will be more likely in the Short Program, than the Free Skating. And sorry, I meant the expression sounds sour, not you. I'm used to comment very straight-forwardly about what feelings a certain expression gives me. In my mind, that expression made me think "getting ready for the worst". I hope you understand xD
  15. I asked this as well - but I'm pretty sure it was done way before the ice show. I saw posts of people sharing the new Ice Level number here 1-2 weeks ago? And by then, the number was already completed, so all the interviews must have already been made.
  16. No, actually the translation that was linked here (cantilover's tumblr) is excellent, I can't say it hasn't been done with attentiveness. Yuzuru did use the word "seme", which means both attack and offense, so for that one, no doubt. As for everything else, I really like the vibe of the interview. He's not giving away details, but intentions. I especially like how he said "I want to level it up with the elements I am challenging right now", because if you think about the elements he's challenging... yes, there's the 4T3T in second half. And then there's 4Lz. He's not giving anything away, but... I think he still doesn't know. He said in almost every interview by now that he doesn't think of putting the 4Lz, and a lot of people here rightly suspected it to be a strategy. I agree. How can he say he'll ad 4Lz when it's still a work in progress? So, he doesnt think he will put the 4Lz. But he wants to. Well, we know what would happen, then, right? Someone breaking Yuzuru's record... and Yuzuru back to back breaking it 15 minutes later Imo, it could happen, why say it couldn't happen. But "getting ready for the eventuality" sounds sour to me. Like, we shouldn't expect Yuzuru to win everything, but we shouldn't expect him to lose to everything either. I guess... a bit more chill would be nice xD I've loved that part of the interview. "I feel the music in the same way I breathe". A week ago I was talking about tempo in music on here, and how if it's the right tempo, it allows you to breathe in sync with the music, like a single heartbeat. I am happy to know Yuzuru is aware of how important this is as well. He has such a musician's mind, it's amazing. (I mean, dancer's and musician's minds are probably very alike on this).
  17. When was this interview done though? At the start of May, right? Right at the end of the season.
  18. I was surprised as well. To be honest, it said attack in the english translation, but I am not sure he used that specific word. I think I'm gonna go back and try to listen/read the precise wording xD
  19. (Good morning!) I think the only 'clear' statement we got from Yuzuru from the Faoi interview was that he sees the 4T3T combination in the second half of the program as an 'attack'. An offensive move. So, I guess... that's the only confirmation we have - that he'll keep that combination in the second half, no matter what layout/musical changes they will make.
  20. I guess there are a lot of ways to respect people, and there are a lot of ways not to respect people. But I don't like the word respect, cause it feels a bit cold to me, in this friendly context, I'd prefer something like... consider other people's feelings. I think all of us went through a lot of feelings these days, and we've affected one another. That cannot be avoided. When I perceive too much negativity might be affecting me or someone else, I feel like I have to speak out. So I did. But here, no one has the power to stop people from sharing their feelings. Luckily. This is the beauty of a place like this.
  21. Now that you're saying it like this... you're making me have doubts about what is the more realistic outcome
  22. But of course. I've written it, multiple times, that it is my opinion and it isn't a universal truth. I was reading in comments above mine that people were pointing out coreography issues, so those are the ones I tackled in my comment. True, tech also means steps and spins, so an improvement to those could be seen as a tech upgrade as well. Anyways, when I said this program didn't need a crazy tech upgrade, I was complimenting the performance, and not speaking ill of anyone. The reasons people give for the disappointment... can be taken into consideration, and I have. But, to me, disappointment is a very specific feeling that comes out of expectations, and every single one of us probably has different expectations. So if we had to take into consideration everyone's expectations, there would be no end to it. I can assure you I apply this reasoning to me as well. In fact, I could have wished for Yuzuru to skate to a brand new classical musical piece among the ones I loved. But I didn't have any expectations, because I didn't want to feel disappointment. Although, I did feel anxiety because of the negative atmosphere that was going around for a while. So, I feel like it's completely legitimate for me to remind, in the general thread, that disappointment is a personal feeling that is caused by expectations, first and foremost. Also, I totally believe Yuzuru is aware of where the other skaters are. But I don't think he worries about whether they'll skate clean or not. Imo, he doesn't even question it. "Shoma will do his best, Boyang will do his best, Javi will do his best. So I have to do my best". Simple as that.
  23. OMG WHY AM I JUST DISCOVERING NOW That the Braveheart main soundtrack... sounds a HELL lot like Asian Dream Song?? Now I vote this to be the new FS for the Olympic season!
  24. I love how we've been talking about the fact that with Chopin 3.0, it would really become "necessary" for Yuzuru to upgrade his tech, but now that we've seen the program, we see that it is lacking in things that have nothing to do with tech. This goes on to show that Chopin 3.0 doesn't need 'crazy tech upgrade' to be a great program. It needs the attention to detail, the musicality, the winning coreography that Yuzuru always manages to deliver in the end. Of course, I understand the people who want to see 4Lz and who believe he will put it in the Short. I don't know if he'll put it in the short - but I don't think it's necessary. Like Max said, the program he skated today could have been a World Record. The Tech that Yuzu is delivering in May is already world-record level. Not upgraded to the maximum difficulty, no. "Just" world-record level. I don't think Yuzuru needs 4Lz to 'be forgiven' for choosing to go with Chopin for the third time. I think that the people feeling 'disappointment' towards him should deal with this disappointment themselves. They have every right to feel it, and they have every right to express it, but my personal opinion is that disappointment comes from personal expectations, which you yourself set, without taking into consideration what the other person wants/needs/plans. So if you feel it, it's your own issue. Yuzuru doesn't owe us anything. He owes it to himself to perform a clean skate, confident in his jumps and confident in the mood he will create while performing. He shouldn't worry about judges 'maybe not liking' Chopin, and he shouldn't worry about others skaters 'maybe skating as clean as him'. He is worrying about delivering consistently with the highest of quality. If 4Lz becomes consistent, then that will be it. If it doesn't, then this layout we've seen is the best choice. Us, on the other hand, have plenty of time on our hands, so I guess we can worry about other skaters and we can worry about corrupted judges. Maybe we'll even keep some stress away from him, if we take it upon ourselves.
