Rite of Spring Rite of Spring Rite of Spring! Well, Tchaikovsky is a composer that wore his heart on his musical sheets, per say. He's a late Romantic bloomer. I think this makes his music and Yuzuru's skating similar in a way! So, to me, Piano Concerto n.1, First movement, could be a wonderful choice. Tchaikovsky hides a lot of pain behind his easy-on-the-ears musical themes. Also, his music is full of crescendo's and diminuendo's, which make it easy to adapt to a skating program. I wouldn't use Second and Third movement, but that's just because the First is my favourite I also think that Overture 1812 (maybe without the bells ringing ) has to be skated at least once by someone!

Yes, I think pieces like that at a young age pushed him to make effort to connect with the music more, which resulted in his incredible sensibility now that he's an adult, so I really appreciate Nanami's choices! Yes, he becomes 'complicated' under other aspects... Hope and Legacy is not musically complex, but the interpretation is. Who knows what he'll chose for next year. A more 'challenging' music or a more 'challenging' interpretation? Or will he sacrifice both aspects for a more 'challenging' technical content? I wish he could find a balance with all of these three components. I am sure that this is what he aspires to, and what he searches for in a program.

Although I would say that if anyone should skate to Prokofiev, Yuzuru should be the first on the list. Especially because for years, his team has proved to have great skills at putting together long programs, touching up the music, cutting here and there, but always leaving the meaning of the piece intact, which is something very rare in figure skating (honestly, Worlds 2017 was the party of badly cut musical pieces). When I listened to the original Seimei OST, I was so surprised at how well the pieces were mixed together. Truly a great job. Whoever's doing this work for Yuzuru, they are to thank for his success as well.

I believe his most 'out of the ordinary' music pieces he used is Stravinsky's Firebird (that is, anyways, pretty chill if you consider Stravinsky's dodecaphonic compositions, or even if you compare it to Prokofiev) and... what else? Well, POTO's harmony is peculiar in the first part, but since that's a warhorse I wouldn't quite consider it out of the ordinary. Seimei's soundtrack is peculiar (in terms of accents and arrangement), but easily understandable because of its very "cinematographic" interpretation. I wouldn't consider Moulin Rouge's Bolero as out of the ordinary, but I do appreciate it more than most people here (I think, since it's never mentioned). I would say it's an unusual choice of music.

That lisp. Makes me wanna squeeze him tight in my arms and never let go. So darn cute I feel like I understand Zuzu on a deep personal level here I bet he's the kind of person who gets told: 'wow, you are speaking so loud and fast' 'I am? Are you serious?' 'yes, you became all hype all of a sudden for no reason' 'ah, sorry sorry' *is not sorry*

Thank you so much! It was very entertaining to read the translations, and I like how you translate the 'feeling' of what they said, together with the actual meaning of it, despite you saying that your Japanese isn't at its best. Thank you again!

Yes, I will definitely listen/watch the whole thing, once I will set my mind to it. I am a very bad music student, because there are so many operas and ballets I still haven't seen.
-
Yes, of course, I wouldn't rule out the whole ballet! Especially because I'm not familiar with it, I'm just familiar with the Dance of the Knights!

I just noticed... isn't the camera work here a little bit... as terrible as Kobe was this year? I mean, the way they focus on the feet and then the hands during the spin, cutting off the rest of his body...

The Epicness level is right for Yuzuru, but it's true that the beat is a little too heavy for his feather skating. I love this piece of music, but I wouldn't couple it with Chopin as a Short Program. He needs something powerful and light like a blade that cuts through air in a swift motion. At least that's how I see his strenght!

He overreacted WAY too hard Must have been in a panic because of the Pooh Rain. Someone else in his place would have jolted forward and tried to catch the pooh before the fall!

Aaah so jealous to miss the Moscow party Also, a Plushy-Yuzu duet with this song would fit perfectly, imo. HAH.
-
The video is awesome and I hadn't heard this song for... around 6 years probably? Awesome music.

Unrelated to anything, but I thought you would have liked for me to share: I was talking to a Japanese person I've met through language exchange, and he showed me some temples and shrines pictures, explaining me the difference. So I told him that I knew a Japanese skater whom I'm following who visited and sent prayers to some shrines some weeks ago, and this is what he said: "Oh my god. He must be Yuzuru Hanyu. We Japanese respect his serious attitude and gratitude to his supporters" Then I went aniugnduigh *mentally* and he added: "He is super busy in his job but he is also a university student. I dont know how he manages it haha and its the smartest university in Japan. such a super man" I talked to him about how Yuzuru so caringly folds the Japanese flags every time he parades around the ice rink for a victory: "Wonderful behavior. I think everyone comes from the inside spontaneously by nature If it's just performance, we can realise it but you know, he does it from the bottom of his heart. He is sincere and grateful". It's true, there isn't a single Japanese person who doesn't know Yuzuru - and there are few who don't appreciate his spirit <3

I just realised someone should probably organize a cat party for Yuzu. I remember him saying in interviews that he loves them, but cannot own them due to asthma or allergies, right? Well, someone should gift him a room full of smol kittens to cuddle and play with for a while, just enough for him not to get sick <3 My sister's boyfriend is allergic to cat fur, but he sometimes cuddles them and slowly, I think his tolerance went up. (Embracing the Cat discourse)
-
Oh, really? I must admit my knowledge about wild cats is limited - after I sterilized mine at 8 months old he stopped showing any sign of that and that was that (OT about cats) (But is it really OT if it's about cats?)
-
I actually always loved The Phantom of the Opera, and a summer ago I even went to the broadway musical... made me cry multiple times... So I actually would forgive him even that!
-
But cats mark their territory only when they're in heat! Oh wait-

Just like a Swan. Asserting dominance. (Swans are pretty thug to be honest)
