Do not unlock my patriotic food nerdism at midnight, it is a dangerous path French pastries are definitely delicious, but it's not hard to make something tasty when you drown it in butter... I guess the difference isn't even that much, though. French and Italian pastries are very similar. We do have cannoli, tho. So we win.
-
Also I faintly understood that they said they are a 'very popular food in Paris' and the speakwoman appreciated it as well xD (ooooh, chokkoretoooo something) Well, french croissants are way more buttery than italian croissants. But ours are fluffier, so he should definitely try ours as well.

We totally have those pastries in Italy as well and they're not EVEN THAT SPECIALLL (it's midnight here so I am giving myself the liberty to start trashposting)

I dream of a cute asian guy with a pink shirt to save me from a suicide attempt as well #movietrailers

Thank you very much! Seems like you are a streaming expert...

Any advice for a poor soul whose Flashplayer keeps on crashing for that streaming?

If this morning news show is anything like italian shows, the interviews would be positioned at the end of the program... if it's an interview with him there. But if it's just a short interview footage they will incorporate in a news - in that case, it would be mixed in among other things.

Here I am, listening to Japanese morning news talking about Women's golf... all for this little big Japanese legend skater man

Then I am sure it's just a little bit of your depression worrying you c: Think about it, this year he tried to do a New Program + a new jump. But the consistency wasn't on his side, the judges didn't favour him, and he would describe it as a failure for the Short Program this year - although I bet he knows LGC is a kickass program and he gave his all. So, for next year, what were the choices? 1) Trying to go again for New Program + New jump, risking the same consistency issue, meaning judges would start to penalize him even more. 2) Going for a New Program, but keeping the same layout - risking to be left behind by crazy quadsters, while having the difficulty of making his a completely new music 3) Going for an Old Program, but changing the layout. This is the best option imo, because he already has a connection with the music and the mood, he already knows he can bring it home, and he can focus on not being left behind, by doing the hardest possible technical content. This is the only option in which he can safely be crowned Absolute Champion again.
-
Precisely for the fact that he cannot go very further PCS wise, he has kept a Program that gives him confidence, calmness, strenght, gives him what he needs to up his technical content, so his BV, to confirm that he is the Absolute Champion because he is the Champion at both the technical side, and the Components side. Yuzuru will never count on others not being clean. That is not how he wants to win. He was very kuyashii about Sochi's LP. I believe he doesn't want to repeat that. @beki, what if your ideals do overlap? I really believe Yuzuru cares more about Performance (so, art) than the medals. But he knows something we don't know: he knows what he needs to accomplish the perfect Performance. So I can only believe in him, and believe he knows better than me what he needs to deliver exactly the kind of legendary performance that he wants to deliver.

I have so many opinions when I read all of these pages to catch up and when I finish I can't think of anything that hasn't been yet said xD Oh, well. During the last Olympic season, Yuzuru kept the same Short Program, and repeated a theme for the Long Program. If he does the same this Olympic season, with Chopin in the SP and Seimei in the Long Program... I don't see anything strange or surprising. Also, this is only my two cents but Chopin is the program that the judges loved the most. And they gave Yuzuru 49 in PCS for it, skated clean. By going 'beyond the ideal', my guess is Yuzuru wants to truly break the scoring system and take the perfect 50, or the perfect 100. And the most exciting thing is that... he is the only skater in the world that could do it.

Versus Chen at COR and Versus Chan at NHK. -
WHAT ANXIETY. (Literal translation of a famous italian exclamation: 'CHE ANSIA'.)

Is he singing along to EVERY song? ...HOW is he singing along to every song? Mister Perfection.

If anyone was wondering, the Darth Vader moment is at 2:19.11... I DIED. There was only one last thing Yuzuru had to do to conquer my heart, and that was to fully unleash his Star Wars nerdy side. Arigatou.

I think it depends primarily on individuals, and maybe a little bit on culture, as well? I don't know about Japan, but here in Italy, especially in the center/south, everybody has to go to the sea at least a couple of times during the summer - the hot requires it, plus we've got really great beaches The people who don't know how to swim, here, are the people who don't like the idea of swimming, or don't like swimming in general. For example, my sister doesn't like it. But she can probably float in a life or death situation xD I can understand how Yuzu doesn't like 'walking on the sand barefoot', I hate sand, although I love swimming. (Now I'm thinking of Anakin hating sand memes... with Yuzuru's face)

You're right, I didn't mean to couple Nathan with La Campanella, it's definitely too light for him and his quad landings I was thinking more along the lines of his program being sort of like a virtuosistic musical piece from the 1850's - not very emotional but done to 'strike the audience'. I honestly love polovtsian dances, especially the version he used in the FS. I bet he will stay on that musical path right there - epic, powerful music as a soundtrack for his very ambitious skate. Bruch At the end of my 3rd violin year at middle school, my teacher gave me 3 musical sheets: Vieuxtemps' 5th concert, Paganini's Moto Perpetuo, and Bruch. She said: have fun. I did. Bruch is such a wonderful piece. It's absolutely stunning, and how she played it, it made me love it even more... I have to admit it, I've tried synch-ing the Third movement with Yuzuru's FS! Both the First and the Third, I think, are perfect for a skating program. It's just gonna be hard to cut it right! If you have anything to suggest for Schubert and Liszt, I'm all ears. I'm pretty ignorant about these composers!

Thanks @sallycinnamon and @unicorn for your kind words. I am very happy that you liked it and this motivates me to do something else today, heheh... probably an Ennio Morricone medley with the musics from Canone Inverso (a weakness of mine, the movie that made me want to learn violin when I was 6) Thanks @Xen for sharing that version of La Campanella, if you like it I suggest you to search for Leila Josefowicz playing it when she was just 15, she is really exquisite (pssst, she also played Saint-Saens Rondo Capriccioso, but there's not a very good version on youtube. She's kinda off the radar now) Somehow I think La Campanella is a very high spirited, funny piece, so for Yuzuru to choose something like this would be to "return" to a time where he also did 'lighter' pieces - for example, Paganini Caprice n.24 variations, or Zigeunerweisen. Somehow, I don't think he'll pick anything like this for Olympic season, because it wouldn't quite suit his intentions, right? These high-spirited pieces are mostly virtuosistic. If there's someone who might pick them, I think It'd be Nathan Chen. Unfortunately, if I think of virtuosistic pieces for Yuzu, all sorts of not-very-known and probably not judges-proofed come to mind xD This solo violin Ballade is crazy in terms of playing difficulty, so it makes me think of Yuzuru's footwork. It has his spirit, his fierceness. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend for Olympic season.

You're right, I was also thinking about GOE's. In 2015, GPF and NHK, his GOE's were beautiful. All 3's across the board. This year, despite the fact that most commentators were expecting the same after that Free Skate at Worlds... well... didn't happen. But this year was a hard one for Yuzu. Probably, the judges felt more justified to NOT give him 3's because of his struggles with the Salchow combination, or even his struggles with the loop at the beginning of the season, OR EVEN his fail at B*ston. That's why I think that if Yuzuru begins the season calmly, determinated, confident that he is the Absolute Champion after all, and if this brings him to do mostly clean programs and win GPF for the fifth time... the judges's hearts might be conquered once again after all. (I don't know if this was OT, if it was, forgive me) -
That 3Lz and then the music explodes and YASSS I'm quite proud. I'm glad you liked it! (Honestly, I could put any music there and It'd be gorgeous. Yuzuru's skating is very versatile.)

If he wins GPF for the 5th year in a row, I challenge the judges not to give him the PCS he deserves during Olympics. But I'd rather him go easy at first. It doesn't matter if he takes two silvers to qualify for GPF... he knows when he needs to peak. (Of course, if he manages to enter a clean streak... no one will stop him) -
But control is Yuzuru's forte, right? c: Of course I don't think 'slow music is easier than fast music', it's not about how many notes you play, but the tempo in which you play them, that gives you more time to breathe... to me, having a "slower tempo" in which to prepare yourself mentally, to which you can sync your own heartbeat... it's better. I've seen Yuzuru more relaxed, compared to LGC. He was always very intense, which can also mean tense, and jumps are harder when you're tense. But of course, I don't want to reduce everything to just the music's tempo. Music's not all, hehe. Yes! I agree with everything. I'd say that the tempo sets the mood. A musical piece can be done at 80 BPM and at 100 BPM. Maybe it wouldn't be less or more difficult, but the mood will change. The mood of the musicians will change. The color of the piece will change.
