  1. Mmmh I don't think I like to talk about strenghts and weaknesses... because they are never a stable thing - they change, they evolve, they are temporary. I can only say that one thing that distinguishes Yuzuru from other top skaters is the humanity he puts into his skating. It's never just a performance - it's always about him, it's always about his life. I'll leave others to say whether it's a strenght or a weakness. It can and it has definitely been both. But that's the beauty of it.
  2. I feel kuyashii so strongly. I will go and study hard before Skate Canada!!!
  3. Ah, I agree on so many fronts... and yes, definitely the gaps of sensibility are very tangible to me. And Yuzuru's slow start of the season is completely normal exactly for the things you said. And it makes it that much more exciting!! Helsinki is just around the corner...
  4. This is the best thing about being Yuzuru fans. You can always expect the programs to change drastically from one competition to the other. He always improves because he is hypercritical of himself and knows that the artistic impression lies on the refinement of each and every single movement (which is a very Japanese mindset, I should say). I'd say that other skaters rely on the 'casual perfection' and don't chase perfection through movement refinement. This will never not surprise me. Because in an environment like music, perfection through movement refinement to the quarter of the second is everyone's rule. In the skating world, Yuzuru has a different mindset from all the others, but in the music world, for example, I'd say his mindset is pretty much the standard!
  5. Yes, I think he only needs to define/refine the beginning, the entry of that movement into SE, not the SE moment per se.
  6. They... they cut the final "vincerò"... that high C... give it to me...
  7. Maybe these are two possible reasons why you feel Otonal is a little 'unfinished' and feels weird: 1) because the layout is completely different from Chopin (and also different from any other layout he has ever done), so we are not used to it, and 2) because it IS the program's first outing and Yuzuru's performance wasn't the best. I think improvement on the spins and more energy on the StSeq will change the program drastically. His mistakes in the spins make you detatch a little from the music and the program, at least they have this result on me. Also, the music is quiet and delicate, a la Hope and Legacy, meaning that Otonal will become one of those programs that will not work unless they are perfect!
  8. That's what I thought! He has feathers and he moves like a Swan. I am already pleased. (But if he ever goes for Tchaikovsky, I cannot really complain )
  9. Ugh. We're doomed. He's never setting foot in Italy. Duh. We have pasta.
  10. It sounds like an excuse, but really, I would love for Yuzuru to come here because he would love it so much. The nature, the sights, the people. Usually Japanese and Koreans are very amazed by Italy's warmth, because it has an atmosphere that's very different, if not completely opposite, from East Asia. (and as historical rivals of the French, I am jealous)
  11. *sighs* how long will I have to wait before Italy gets a GPF too?
  12. Basically I come here and I discover where I am going for vacation next year! So Strasbourg it is. Yay! Pretty close. I had to give up both European GP's this year but next year I will give it my all. Also, I wholeheartedly support the idea of making as many GOAT and NESSIE banners as possible to make Yuzuru understand the inside jokes better. I think he will have a good laugh
  13. Predictions for ID and Pairs being like "what's the names that sound the most 'podium' like!"
  14. Me. Because I'm on my phone and it doesn't load the pictures.
  15. Who's the person jumping? I cannot see from my phone xD
  16. I'm not sure xD by the way Max did a very enthusiastic post on Oda's performance at Japan Open, saying that the active skaters whom he gloriously beat at that competition should learn a lot from him c:
  17. Requiem makes me feel the life struggle more than the heavenly beauty life can be with Haru yo koi.
  18. I think I understand you on turning out at the wrong times. Trying the spiral, I was opening my leg on the side instead of behind lol! Aaaah, I should train today and do skme stretches... but the weather is horrible and I just feel lazy ughh!
  19. Haru yo koi... Niigata version. I think that's the most suited performance to accompany someone in the After Life. Its softness is unparalleled and its emotions are pure and raw. (Either that or LGC because 'we're gathered here today to get through this thing called life')
  20. How did you work on straightening your legs? Or did it come natural to you? I try to do spread eagle but my knees are so bent I end up going into Besti territory xD Yesterday I started doing some spirals! I'm glad because I got to show off some flexibility that I've been working on for more than a year now. It's hard to keep the legs straight though. Everything else is pretty much a disaster lol
  21. We are super spoiled by Yuzuru. No skater really thinks about their musical choices connected to the meaning of the performance which is exclusively tied to the skater's personal history - like Yuzuru does. Most skaters try to choose a music that makes them emotional AT BEST! But Yuzuru has a "bigger picture" wiseness to his choices that is typical of geniuses. We cannot expect everyone to be as ambitious as him. But we could expect for the difference to be noticed by most technicians and experts of the sport... but then, only because they know skating, doesn't mean they are sensitive enough to recognize a vision that goes beyond skating. (Disregard that, they don't even know skating lol +1 Twizzle 3A)
