  1. Hmmmmmm..... as someone who embarrassingly listens to the album everyday (and watched the fancam /cough/).... right now, I'm not feeling it. The choreography and spins don't really match the lyrics. Based on the clips, the only thing that makes me think of it as a Hamilton musical skate (besides the music) is the ending pose.
  2. This is what makes figure skating unique as a sport though. Most of us, the fans and athletes, know in advance what a skater is going to bring in a competition in terms of base value (barring a YOLO skate - thanks zuzu). This is the beauty of the CoP if applied properly. It becomes a tool to build up your arsenal as a skater. Unfortunately, scoring has been all over the place recently. I can grudgingly accept (sort of) PCS inflation and deflation because it can be subjective and therefore easily manipulated. But GOEs are another matter. This is why I understand why people can go all gloomy about it. The judging is getting unpredictable and judges have been showering +3s and ignoring edge changes and cheated jumps. We don't know what types of politics will be in play. So it's understandable to have discussions on things that are actually tangible - the base values.
  3. Include whichever routines you want! (even recent ones!). I think there's a separate thread for more iconic performances anyway. I mean my favourite short dance last season is Gilles / Poirier (yes, that includes Paul's 7o's pornstache aesthetics ) even though some people found it weird. hahaha
  4. Have you tried going directly to youtube to watch instead of from the forum?
  5. Gorgeous as usual. I love it whenever you also post the progression of the art piece!
  6. Did not expect that
  7. I watched the alternate links as well and it was so funny how the commentators were all "who placed them 2nd????". Who indeed... that judge had some balls to do that. hahaha...
  8. We shall see.... he is a bit of a troll.. hahaha
  9. Maybe you'll have better luck with this one?
  10. It doesn't seem to look as bad as I remember it? (the reaction to the costume when it was revealed as Loco 2.0 was OTT though). Or maybe I'm desensitised? Hmmm.... Maybe they fixed it a bit like the did with Loco 3.0 outfit which is now Winter costume (I think they got rid of the illusion mesh turtleneck).
  11. GPF 2015 FS Practice Fancam. You can really appreciate his movements when he's in his training gear. Look at his 3A at 3:02... Huge!
  12. Speaking of Riverdance... I liked Rika Hongo's 2015 - 2016 FS to Riverdance.
  13. Yes! In 2005... he barely aged (in terms of looks... and personality too now that I think about it). hahaha
  14. Ok... so this isn't an iconic status performance and they're not super popular (hard to be when competing with Virtue/Moir and Weaver/Poje in CAN) but what I love about Gilles/Poirier is that they are unique and love to think outside the box. Whether or not it works with the judges (and FS fans) is another matter. This performance to the soundtrack of Hitchcock made me a fan.
  15. I was surprised as well! Now I know why he kept saying he wanted to improve and add more variation to his spins... He prolly had the statistics already figured out and saw he was third...
  16. This is fine.... I don't need my tear ducts anyway... (I honestly don't know of anyone who wasn't moved by that performance.. also, still salty that this didn't win the free) No.... Go on! It's the purpose of this thread! hehehe
  17. Couldn't access the planet the whole of yesterday but glad you guys had fun! Will try to squeeze in on the 2nd viewing. hehehe
  18. Shameless self promotion time... You guys should watch his Requiem performance at the NHK Trophy Exhibition as well (same broadcast as the Hana Wa Saku Collab). The lights and the effects on the ice as well as his performance is something... (It's under 2016)
  19. I forgot about how fluffy Charlie White's hair was. hahaha Lambiel really aged like fine wine. Mention the 2006 Olympics and the first performance that pops in my mind is, of course, my queen Shizuka's FS.
  20. From the 2016 NHK trophy Exhibition Special [here at 14:30] where skaters from Sendai (Yuzu & Shizuka) or with connections to Sendai (T. Honda trained there and A. Suzuki, I think, went to Uni there) skate to Hana wa Saku (Choreographed by Nanami Abe who is from Sendai).
  21. The mechanism/technique in jumping axels is quite different from all the other jumps. Nobu and Kenji have always remarked on how the 3a was scary. One funny thought (or my own theory anyway.... haha), I feel like Shoichiro Tsuzuki-sensei sort of tricked Yuzu into loving the axel so much by telling Yuzu that the axel is the king of jumps knowing Yuzu's nature (competitive mushroom that he is).
  22. Is it bad that my first thought when I saw that poster was "Hmmm.... shouldn't that be behind a plexiglass... or bolted down?"
