    Just an observation... but it seems that the people that motivate him the most are Patrick and Boyang? I haven't heard him talk about being pumped up/motivated with regards to other skaters. (Also, people cheering for another skater before it's his turn to skate.. haha)

    This might be because he didn't receive the highest mark for spins last season and he is very salty about it

    There was a lot of crap happening at SC 2016. I mean, Satoko's FS StSq was invalidated(???) and received 0 pts. Another reason might be she competed during Mao's comeback and with a very consistent Satoko. She also had a disadvantage in her skating style. You can hear a lot of commentators saying... Oh she's not as graceful as Mao or as polished as Satoko.

    Yeah... you can definitely tell when Yuzu pops even if you don't know his layout. I think someone from CBC (I'm pretty sure it was Uncle Kurt) described Yuzu's pops as "like a parachute opening up".

    I don't know if this would help because I haven't seen a video for ep 4 & 5 either but you can apparently watch it on the jsports website. You have to create an account and be in Japan though as it's only available there.

    I don't think there's a specific name for it. Actually, I think it's an American-centric naming because I've never heard that term from non-American commentators (kinda like Zayaking is from Elaine Zayak because I've heard Russians name the Zayak phenomenon as doing a Nobunari Oda ). Adam's best jump was a 3Lz with his 2 arms aloft and he used it so much it became his 'signature move' and people started calling it a Rippon Lutz. And then for whatever reason it evolved into calling any jump with two arms aloft as Rippons.

    I'm not quite sure as I have a bad recall (Chiddy also got +GOEs for a popped jump at WTT, I think). Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think there a specific rule about popping. So long as you hit those GOE bullet points then theoretically, you get the BV + positive GOE score. Where a pop is most costly, I think, is in the short program because there are required elements. One of which is that the solo jump is either a quad or a triple (so if you gotta pop them quads instead of fall them pop into a triple). Jump combinations should consist of a 2-3 jumps, 3-3 jumps, or a 4-2 or 4-3 jumps... so no single jumps!

    It kinda depends on the pop? It was very costly for Yuzu because he turns a quad into a triple/double. If you look at the base values for jumps (not even counting GOEs), when he pops a 4T into a triple he loses about 5 pts already while if he falls but does full rotations he gets a -1 deduction but gets full credit for the jump (again, not accounting for GOEs). It's why he was able to place 2nd at COC 2014. Despite 5 falls, he rotated ever single one of his jumps.     Akiko is so underrated. One of my favourite performance is her 2013 Japanese Nats FS where she won gold. The performance itself is so emotional

    The only group Hana wa Saku I know of is the one in done in the 2016 NHK Trophy Special Exhibition.

    Ok... let's change topics. In case anyone hasn't seen it, here's the Gala finale group performance from NHK trophy 2012 that was held in Miyagi Prefecture. I love the light effects they did on the ice. The music box version of Hana wa Saku and the Thank You from Tohoku message was also very touching.

    Well... we might get an idea of how Shoma's jumps will be called in the upcoming GP comps. He's going up against Chiddy in Skate Chanada and Javi in TdF.

    I'm the same. I don't understand the intricacies of Ice Dance so I usually go for more quirky or unique routines. I found another link! I'm hoping this one will work.
