  1. Under spoiler because it's an ugly stuff I am regretfully bringing here. Mods, if it needs to be deleted, just do it, and perhaps let me know?
  2. Rarely keep up with this thread but decided to visit for an explanation on this yet another round of the whole mess that is OAR. Seriously. It's an absolute mess. I hurt for the athletes whose literal blood, sweat, and tears are being tossed around for the sake of, what exactly? Saving face? 'Saving' the sport? ???!! Also, I cannot keep up with the diminutive name of Russian junior ladies. Who is Stasya? Nastya is, err, Anastasia? So, Tarakanova and Gubanova? I know Sasha is Alexandra, and Alyona is how they pronounce Alena so that's Kostornaya. And Dasha, I gather, is Daria Panenkova. So, Stasya is Stanislava Konstantinova?
  3. I am not trying to be mean (it gets super ugly when I try). Not only am I tired of the balletic line of defense, I am just tired of excuses in general, and especially so when it comes to USFS PR 'protecting' Chen. From where I see it, every time they tried to elevate him (or other skaters of theirs with any chance of podium finishing), it is always at the expense of his opponents, whether directly or subtly. And when he did not deliver, it was always external factors (boots problem: no WC podium, among others). I guess I am just too spoiled with the way Yuzu and his team handle both victories and defeats. I'll try not to comment further on this matter, less my personal lack of preference of the attitudes and choices of skaters and their teams or feds colours my judgement on specific things like this.
  4. Aura. (and seriously, how does that 'line and posture' comparison going?)
  5. I think, for those of us who are not deluded, this line of pathetic excuse of Chen's obvious mediocre artistry is never going to work. But considering judges are often the most deluded, idk, man.
  6. I am also going to add this, since usually WE, fanyu, are the ones accused of bias no matter what we do. For me, the fact that the 'findings' have so many missing parametric data is enough to invalidate it.
  7. the-real-xmonster's guide on jump's takeoff: toe jumps edition ft. the top 6 men.
  8. Seimei's Chsq comparison with 2015 NHK Trophy encore by the-real-xmonster
  9. They had more ugly costumes, apparently. Just click on some recommendations for this video.
  10. As I have been putting what I want to see on the podium, can we pretty please have the choice of not putting anyone in Men's 1st place for GPF? Cz even thinking I have to put someone else's name, I'm. I don't think I can do it
  11. I've been skimming through the thread and ... Let me give my two cents, and then I have to be sorta away for the weekend (change of plan now that I don't have Men's FS and Gala to wait for) Regarding fans pushing Yuzu to upgrade his layout. I am in the camp who was hoping for 4Lz (and maybe 4A, if you squint, for pride reasons, don't kill me!), because, among other things, looking at how much judges fudge he needs it to be on the secure side of winning against the 'quantity-over-quality squad'. I want him to win because that is what he wants. Getting that 2nd OGM is not my, or any fans' goal; it is Yuzuru Hanyu's goal. We just want to support him. He could retire now, and will still be the Greatest of All the effing Time in my heart and I believe in the heart of so many. He could choose the route of staying with what he is comfortable with, and with the all the blessings of the skating gods, he might still win anyway. But eventually, he is the one who decided to upgrade his layout. I know that it is easy to blame the layout upgrade for this particular injury, but I think we should really put into account that it is his decision with blessings from his team. I would never be so arrogant as to say we fans have much if any, influence on what he would or should do. This injury is unfathomably unfortunate, but blaming it on anything is not going to help anyone. This man is the same boy who insisted on adding 4S into his arsenal during the last Olympic cycle against his coach wishes because he knew/thought/was convinced he needed it. True, he has changed; wiser and more willing to discuss things with his team. But at the heart of heart, Yuzuru is still the same athlete who pushes himself because if he is not challenging himself, "why continue to compete at all?" I am unbelievably saddened and broken hearted that he had to WD from NHK and therefore unable to defend his GPF champion title. My personal decision, however, is to not blame this on anyone. Because really, whose fault is this layout upgrade? Yuzu and his team - who make the ultimate decision about the said upgrade? Fans who are 'pushing him' to do so? The aforementioned 'quantity-over-quality squad' and their team who necessitated the upgrade? The judge fudging? The ISU for sucking at making sure their judge don't fudge? The skating gods for making this sport moves the way it does? Yuzu again for successfully starting the quad revolution? I know that each person's coping mechanism is different. For some, finding someone or something to blame probably helps to ease the aching in their hearts. For me, that doesn't help. It channels my sadness into anger. And in this particular situation, I'd rather be sad than angry. A sad me only needs to see the silver lining to be hopeful again. An angry me needs 1) a person/thing to be angry at, 2) to do something to change the situation I am angry about, neither of which is possible/reasonable. There's one thing that bothers me, which despite being pale in comparison to the love the skating community is showing him, stuck out like a sore thumb anyway, That's it. That's my two cents. At the end of the day, I have faith in Yuzuru. He will recover, he will come back and achieve his goals. In the meantime, I am praying for him, and sending him positive thoughts. Yuzu, Ganba!!!
  12. Yuzu bby, it's ok. We understand, your health comes first and foremost. Gathering all the silverlinings on this: He is wiser, he prioritises better, he now has time to properly recover, he is not skating new programs-no need to have plenty of competitions to get used to them, no more pressures to win gpf and hence additional pressure going into oly no matter the result of gpf, etc. please add if you know more. Get well soon and properly, Yuzu-kun!
  13. I just woke up. Yuzu withdrew. Yuzu bby... Don't cry... My heart hurts. For fans who travel all the way to Japan to watch him. For his team. But mostly for Yuzuru himself. Rest well, your majesty. Come back stronger than ever. Your recovery will be in my daily prayer.
  14. the-real-xmonster's handy basic guide for PCS scoring. I mean, be warned that this might make you rage over how judges score PCS, but it is a good source.
  15. Yeah, I wasn't around then, but from what @meoima has kindly informed me, it was absolutely nasty. Yuzu must have been in a lot of pressure and pain back then, and I am so glad his takeaways from that were 'I just have to prove them wrong' and 'No skaters should have to deal with this; I am going to do what I can to spare them - mainly by pitching the current me against the old me instead of other skaters'. From what I heard, we have his team (esp. Brian and Shirota-san) to thank for that, in addition to Yuzu just being Yuzu.
  16. Whoah! That headline! I mean, he basically reiterated what the majority of us rambled on and on about during the event itself, so
  17. There's reason my profile picture is this one. I'd take almost any shade of red from him.
  18. I mean, ISU broke me. I am now more tolerant of errors like this one.
  19. Why is Japan like this? Proper recognition by the IOC Tho, they claimed Brian is 2-time Oly Champion. He is 2-time silver medallist, rather different. I am nitpicking, tho.
  20. Yuzu, what is this. You can't do this to us? I just.
  21. Everything works now! ETA: nope, I think I just jinx it. Back to problems as before. It was fine 5 minutes ago, tho.
  22. I am not sure if this will help but navigating to these gives me the error code EX-1: Homepage Own Profile Other people's Profiles Forum "Forum Issue" My notification works, I can use 'help', and I navigate through the forum using 'unread content'. Gallery and Calendar work, too. Also, like others, when not logged in I can see the homepage no problem. I get the error EX-1 message when attempting to see user profile.
