So, with the context, it seems that she was not targetting Yuzu - but the fact that the comment is petty and xenophobic remains... In fact, I like the theory that this sentence is directed toward Shoma inbstead - yes he is still awkward when he's not skating, but he's been gaining confidence all season, interacting more and more with other skaters - especially Yuzu - I wouldn't be surprised to hear he's becoming more independant from his coaches, and that Yamada doesn't like it. Of course it's only speculation, but if it's the explanation, then it's good for Shoma. He needs to grow and emancipate himself to become a more accomplished skater. Take his own decisions.

I know the information has been released several times, but I can't find it, somehow: do you know by any chance where and how we can purchase one of Yuzu's necklaces ? (especially the blue Phiten one with a ball :) )
-
According to this report, Shoma is currently working hard on improving his weaknesses, especially in correcting his Lutz edge. That should please @meoima And he's joined Toyota. Things are going well for him :)

That kind of comment is so petty and xenophobic in itself that it throws more shades on the one who says it than on its target, imho.

Omg thank you for this vid ! I don't know why but Machida fascinates me - I must have a thing for INTENSE skaters Do you know by any chance if there's a translation of this vid somewhere ?

There's no realistic layout that could give him a 10 point lead in the SP if everybody goes clean. And no layout that could give him much more than what he's going to get with his 4Lo // 3A 4T3T In fact, as was shown in earlier posts, he could gain a grand maximum of 2 points in BV by taking huge risks. And we can also take into account the fact that his WR with Chopin has stayed last season. And the one who almost broke it was Javi, with a relatively "simple" layout.
-
Yes, exactly. I really don't understand how putting 4Lz in the SP could benefit him. He already has a 4Lo, which is consistant and with high GOE. That's what he wanted to achive last season. Having better scores with the 4Lz would require it to become as consistant and with as high GOE than the 4Lo. In olympic season... Too risky. High risk, almost no gain, for me it's a no brainer... On the other hand, I'm expecting a bit more madness in the FP... with lots of backloaded quads and crazy combos that will affect grandly my anxiety level all this year

Yuzuru doesn't owe us anything. He will do what he deems necessary in order to win, not to please his fans. And clearly keeping ballade is the best strstegy he has for next year. Any other possibility would be high risk, low gain.

Yes of course. You can see a kind of PS-induced shadow around the girls hair in the first pic, or around the guy's shoulder in the second pic - plus the resolution of the picture on the computer is far better than the resolution of the photo. ... and actually it must be a kind of meme because I've already seen it with other pictures Edit : it's indeed a meme the full story behind here

There's been some cool stuff on Tumblr lately. Sorry if if it's already been posted, I wasn't online these days : - an amazing gifset - another amazing gifset (seriously, this tumblr user has incredible gif editing skills !) - a snippet of keiji's interview about Yuzu... and girls !!!! (I'm shocked ) And I suppose there's already be lots of talk about this interview with Shizuka but is there a summary/transcription somewhere ?
-
I... didn't want to throw a debate about what's offensive and what's not ? I think we can agree that it depends on the people (a fact I honestly find amusing and quite interesting) and then move on ?
-
It's funny how what is shocking and what is not depends on the culture and the people... I know I find some of the invisible convos far more "shocking" than jokes about genetically engineered super-skaters or about funny low-key shipping... but it seems that some posters here think the opposite :) Anyway, yes, there's no news and it's a pity. But the real question is : when do we expect there will be some news ? How does it work usually with shows, are there rehearsals beforehand, reports, interviews ?
-
omg YES ! I should totally do that. Does it work with little boys or is it only little girls ? (because my girls is taller than me so I doubt it would work XD)

A little quick transcription of the first interview : (Stéphane Lambiel) "I've got many memories of Mao. I remember Mao, very young, and already on the international level, with such power, such energy, and an incredible triple axel... She was super small (he means in an endearing way), she had a big smile, and she already could do some things as well as the top level skaters. And I think before the Turin Olympics she had already won the GRand Prix Final, and people were talking a lot about Mao - I think from this moment until her r****ment, she remained very consistant, very focused, full of passion, with a great work ethic. She's a very beautiful skater, but also a very powerful skater, an incredible technician. I loved her, I think she's an example for everyone. Not only for Japan, not only for the young people - she's really an example to follow, for the longevity of her career, for her work ethic, and for her beauty." (in the second interview he explains why he r****d in 2010. He talks a lot about his injury problems in 2008 and 2010, how hard it was, the fear from the unknown. Then he talks about his life now, the fact that he's in a new chapter from his life - as a coach and as a pro skater. The end of the interview is cute : he explains that this rink is his childhood rink, the place where he skated from 7 years old. And the exact place where he is in this interview was the place where his mother called him from, when he was making mistakes, or when he was training not enough or too much.)

(your translation is good, I just corrected some very minor details)

Les places "normales" devraient être moins chères quand même.

je crois que le pack VIP à Helsinki était autour de 1000 € - et apparemment bien plus à Boston.

The people who judged Chopin at GPF 2015 were not the same people who judged Malaguena at Worlds 2017. You can't compare. And anyway, Yuzu's protocol for Chopin at GPF 2015 is absolutely incredible. Because you've got the huge PCs with plenty of "10"s, but you also have the skyrocketting GOEs.
-
Vas-y, fais-nous peur... c'est combien ? Edit : ooooh je viens de voir. 1640 € ???? okay si c'est ce genre de prix mon dilemme "y aller ou ne pas y aller" va être vite résolu...
-
We won't know if he'll be the reigning GPF champion until december :) And it's funny you didn't mention SHoma and Boyang as a threat too :)

there's a crackfic demanding to be written there
