  1. @WinForPooh Well at least here everyone will be cheering for him and even if they disagree about what layout he should use or whether they like his costume it'll be sincerely felt supportive criticism not dislike! Nothing to be done about the competition nerves but chocolate/alcohol/the pacifier of your choice!
  2. My grandfather was a chef - he used to leave the meringues in the oven until it was cool - said they dried out properly that way. Mine always go toffee- ish on the bottom, which is fine because I like them that way - chewy rather than brittle.
  3. Well it's taken the rest of us the summer to cool off- the first month was a mixture of elation at the way this forum was taking off and venting a lot of angry frustration - very appropriate really considering the object of our admiration - very 'kuyashii'!
  4. That is really the point of this place. I spent years looking at skating stuff on the internet without ever posting any comments or joining anything until earlier this year when the annotated version of the WC winning free skate came out and got a lot of really OTT criticism. It annoyed me so much that I signed up and began to post because I thought it was a great resource, which must have taken a lot of effort to do and I would have been interested to see similar versions of other skaters programmes. Unfortunately there were people who just savaged it in a totally unconstructive and illogical way, which made me see red and got me involved in an online quarrel which is quite uncharacteristic of me and would startle the people who know me ( luckily none of them cares about FS!) So since May I stay here- I occasionally look at other places but click off when it starts getting unpleasant, and I only ever post here. We may have disagreements but there isn't the knee jerk vitriol that I've seen elsewhere.
  5. It would indeed - if anyone knows anything I'm sure we'd all be interested in knowing, if only to start hunting for another viewing source - I'm damned sure the BBC won't be showing anything but Olympics and WC.
  6. It's just that UK Eurosport doesn't appear to have figure skating this winter- don't know why- ISU have sold it to someone? The videos she's translating from appear to be Italian Eurosport and I was wondering if it was just the Uk version that has lost the skating or all of them.
  7. But that was translation of Italian Eurosport wasn't it? Have some countries got Eurosport coverage?
  8. I will be ditching my Eurosport subscription too- will miss the commentary - how will we hear Max now?
  9. Hope everyone going has a wonderful time - look forward to hearing about it when you have time- don't waste valuable competition time updating us - enjoy it to the full and tell us when you get back!
  10. I remember one of the Eurosport commentators speculating that the stage show might have been on tour in Japan the previous season so many of them were using it.
  11. TBH the definition covers most of the top teams in the PL! That is is my hope too. While they are are quite different personalities it makes me laugh how often the perfectionism means that YH and KU come out with very similar comments about performance and winning and scoring.
  12. Just been watching YouTube - PotO GPF version with various commentators, reliving the relief when all but the last jump was landed and we got the true idea of what it was supposed to look like for the first time. Loved that costume so much, loved the choreo sequences, the way it flowed.
  13. Let's just say it's in the upper echelons of the Premier League, there are season tickets, people travel to attend, there is major angst and bad atmospheres when they don't win and it's extremely expensive- maybe I will try and go to Milan, it would be a fraction of the cost! I'm missing the gymnastics World Championships, but at least I should be able to get it on iPlayer when I get back - not sure I'll be able to bear to watch if he doesn't win!
  14. The last major competition I got to watch was GPF last season - missed Euros, 4CC, WC because of various commitments and looking back I realised that this never happens with major games involving The Team, because the football fixtures are embedded in the family internet diary at the start of every season. So I've just entered the GP series, Euros, 4CC, OG and WC - waiting for someone to notice and demand to know wtf is the Rostlecom Cup.
  15. I missed the fringed leg- I'm very suspicious of this embryo single leg costume trend- someone should sit them down and make them watch a few times to drive home how awful it looks before it becomes an epidemic. Do any of these people ever look in a full length mirror? Saw a documentary on Marc Bolan the other night - he had a jacket with leopard print shoulders- put me forcibly in mind of the giraffe and zebra print used above - maybe they were channelling their inner glam rocker? Why didn't someone stop them?
  16. We all have our preferences!
  17. The more I read the more ISU reminds me of FIFA- nepotism, powerful vested interests, resistance to technological assistance, not as much money but . At least they don't want to move the GPF to Qatar.
  18. Been ODing on Chopin in anticipation of next week. I hope he doesn't go back to the very pale silvery blue of CoC - it was too pale and made him look washed out - the deeper colour was much better.
  19. @golden Or a cranky elderly person cutting off their nose to spite their face Symmetry? Makes as much sense as any other explanation for this mess.
  20. I can't abide MR, and Turandot for me is inextricably linked to football thanks to some interminable tournament ( Euros/ WorldCup - something of that order) which lasted for about a month and used Pavarotti's Nessun Dorma every 5 minutes. Never want to hear it again.
  21. Is this a chicken and egg situation ? I don't really care what American audiences see but unfortunately the almighty dollar seems to be dictating the timing of the PC schedule, which really annoys me as I have said many times on this forum. Perhaps the powers that be in the US should consider using Meryls current high profile ( draft in Charlie because he's a sympathetic interviewer?) to drive a wedge in and get the viewing public into the ice dance? And take it from there? Of course it would take money- but if the US audience is that crucial? Because I don't see them getting an ice princess in the near future. Or here's a radical thought - IOC could tell NBC what to do with their money and approach NHK/Asaichi/ Chinese channels- or the other way round. It's too late for this Olympics but Beijing?
