Nor do I, but that sounds rather old fashioned- it's basically just hammering away on the rink for hours in effect.

I find it odd that he is said to lack expression- for me he's the only one of the top 6 who is capable of different expressions. BJ and JF are cheerful, SU has his stare which might with age and experience mature into more, NC let his music do the emoting for him last season and again might be better as he matures, and PC himself always looks the same to me. Give me YH any day- each programme has a different emotional atmosphere.

I was almost afraid to look this morning- another choking incident- maybe it needs a health warning? -

Aliona goes from one extreme to the other - you could hardly see that grey and white ensemble they used last season against the ice- it could have been designed for minimal visibility - tasteful but invisible or eye wateringly unmissable -

The algorithm clearly doesn't recognise a truly .......remarkable costume when it sees it -

Good lord- yes that was a bad one! Especially from the side- what were they thinking? -
This seemed like a good idea to me:- which costumes did you hate? For myself I'd put most of the 80s in there- the Brians looked absolutely ridiculous in all that spandex. To start I am nominating Javier Fernandez 'Modern Times' overalls from FAOI in the hope that it somehow makes him ditch them before competitions begin. The jettisoning of the moustache make up is a good sign that he's coming to his senses I hope.

Oh yes - I love that one!

That's the one- I think I particularly like the contrast between the dreamy elegance that precedes it and the happy charming presence in the kiss and cry that follows it.

I liked the savage expression at the end of the NHK 2015 Chopin.

Yes- exactly! How difficult is it to look through the data, take a few notes and be accurate? It's sloppy and inexcusable.

It really irritates me when commentators don't do their homework properly- especially when they are ex skaters.

Totally agree- 1)Seimei is quintessentially his, and like BO I think it ought to be at the Olympics 2)two seasons with illness and injury must have completely wrecked his master plan - 14/15 was no picnic either. Like some others I worried about a Japanese programme in Korea, but if I understand others with more personal knowledge Abe no Seimei is so far in the past it's not likely to be a problem? A bit like King Alfred wouldn't be a cultural problem in NI? Or do I have that wrong?

I hate to state the obvious, but you can all speculate from now until ACI about layout etc - until then none of us know what the hell he will do, so it's a bit early to be lashing ourselves into a state over what will and will not be included/left out/improved etc. And you can ignore his interviews - he's demonstrated that he can keep his cards close to his chest and IMO he'll continue to do so - understandably given the way the media react.

Well that was interesting. I was about to go to sleep enlightened by the information that he was in great shape and had some new skate guards- took a last look and there it was. I'm very glad that I don't have twitter etc. and even gladder that he is reputed not to look at social media because there is a lot of nonsense leaking through even to those of us that don't have it. I can only assume that a lot of the hysteria is relatively new FS fans who don't realise that the Olympic season is more often than not one to play your strongest, most reliable cards not take chances with new stuff. At Torino Arakawa switched back to Turandot late in the day for exactly that reason. So far the others haven't exactly been blazing any drastically new trails either.

Thank you - I plan to

Unfortunately I have to go out tonight- but I don't think a person who regularly checks cricket scores and football and rugby results during formal dinners and plays and concerts and religious ceremonies is really in a position to criticise if I check my phone from time to time.

Just went off to sort the laundry for a bit - since we realised we weren't getting any news til later - we still averaged a page every 5 mins.

I can't help laughing at the way Phantom rears its head every time everyone gets really stressed! My daughter thinks I'm losing it, sitting here sniggering to myself.
