  1. The colours look so different in that lighting vs. ACI! It will be interesting to see the costume in a better-lit arena and with higher-def cameras. I imagine in award ceremony or show lights the purple will really pop out.
  2. Dmitriev said he's gonna attempt 4A at Rostelecom. The heat is on! Prepare yourselves, Helsinki-goers!
  3. Quite the social butterfly Yuzu's become lately. Posing on people's social media, showing up at parties to eat the food...next thing we know he'll even be going out to dinner...Javi's in Madrid scrolling through his Twitter feed with a growing expression of deep betrayal
  4. The costume sorter is missing the ICONIC costume for Change, lol. I thought that one was surprisingly good. It made Yuzu look like the young guy he is, and the t-shirt with the interesting sort of Japanese-style detailing was cute. It's also missing another I like: the original white shirt with sparkles for TFTT (the one he wore at Ciontu), which is by far the superior embellished white shirt in his wardrobe imo.
  5. That last post was messed up for some reason and won't edit properly - I was referring to Yuzuru's Program Sorter!
  6. I came across this on Tumblr: Yuzuru's Program Sorter! You choose between 2 options each time and it comes up with a list that shows your faves (of his senior programs) from 1-25. I forced myself to click one or the other rather than 'I Like Both' or 'No Opinion', no matter how agonizing, because the first time I did it I had a seven-way tie for #1, a five-way tie for #2, etc. Here are my results:
  7. His workout video would probably be extremely unhelpful, honestly. Yuzuru, posing with a heaping bowl of white rice: Abs are made in the kitchen! *winks* When you're finished all your rice, it's time to go work out! Yuzuru, reappearing at the rink in training clothes: I usually start off with a light training session of one to two hours of Olympic-caliber figure skating. This will burn anywhere from five hundred to one thousand calories an hour and tighten up your core in no time. Just follow along at home! Ready? *does a quad loop*
  8. Lotte stylist: Yuzuru Hanyu...his waist is so small! Lotte photographer: I know! Lotte stylist: So tiny, so delicate! Lotte photographer: It's a miracle of nature! Lotte stylist: I know what I must do...my artistic vision...delicate mint, traditional Japanese elegance...and then...I must...PUT A HUGE-ASS TREE TRUNK BELT ON HIM THAT MAKES HIM LOOK THREE AND A HALF MONTHS PREGNANT Lotte photographer: that did not end the way I expected
  9. He wears a baggy sweatshirt and track pants and looks lithe and powerful. I wear a baggy sweatshirt and track pants and look like an especially unmotivated potato.
  10. In no particular order: 1. Sexy Hair Ina Bauer, 2018 Olympics SP. 2. The little hip swivel/drop it low gesture he did at "at least you got friends" in Let's Go Crazy. 3. The hilarious quad loop landing and his reaction, GPF 2016 SP. 4. GPF 2016 gala practice, when he finished his final spin in Notte Stellata and the music faded out to total, reverent audience silence. (Close second is Skate Canada 2016 gala practice.) 5. When he leaned forward and screamed in triumph and joy after his 2018 Olympics FP. 6. When Tracy pointed out his mother in the audience after his FP and he looked up at her with the softest, most expectant eyes like he was a small child, 2017 Worlds. 7. "Katta? I'm first? I'm the first?" ("You are the first!") "Ohmigod! Ohmigoood!", 2014 Olympics (feat. inappropriate comments over an open mic in the background noise ).

    Otonal

The colour is so nice. Sometimes it seems like a sky blue, like Chopin, but other times more of a slate blue or grey-blue (like on video), and sometimes it even looks like it has an undertone of teal.
  12. He's gonna get BUFF. Or start to, anyway. Like last fall. He purposely gained a lot of muscle. He's lost some of it since then, and along with it, some energy reserves. He needs to build his body and his stamina back up to where he was before his injury. Lots of rice and protein, lots of off-ice training. He's also going to work on his spins, as is the entirety of TCC. They all need to readjust to the new spin protocols, which means adjusting the rhythms of their programs. And hopefully, he will work on improving his layback, because if it stays the way it is, I would rather he just ditched it and brought the Biellmann back instead. (Though I think the Biellmann will reappear in Origin anyway, because it's a trademark Plushenko spin.)
  13. Yes, he just keeps on keeping on. I was actually 100% sure he'd retired, then suddenly he popped up again with new programs and new hair! I just went "oh, OK, werk, Kevin."
  14. I'm glad PChiddy chose the character development route (per himself, lol) and he and Yuzu seemed to become reasonably fond of each other over the last few years. They have some cute interactions on fancams. Looking back on Patrick's career, he'll never exactly have me smashing that replay button (I don't care for a lot of his programs, and he has a few stylistic quirks I can't get past) but I appreciate his old-school skills. Nobody skates quite like him. And as a Canadian looking at the crop of current Canadian men I know it'll be a good few years before we have another prominent, established men's star like him.
  15. I think he WILL completely bomb everything else the day he lands the 4A. He'll be so excited he'll lose focus. First scenario, he'd probably have some kuyashii but mostly be happy because he achieved his childhood dream and winning/losing the competition would seem secondary. Second scenario, some kuyashii that he would already be mentally prepared for because people don't usually land a hard new jump on their first try (unless you're... him!) but at least everything else was clean. So neither situation would be too awful. But if he bombed the 4A and it disappointed him so that he also bombed everything else..... then we'd have a really pouty face.
  16. If Keegan was practicing in a harness and still under-rotating his 4A just this summer, then he's nowhere near ready to put it into competition, unless he did those things on purpose for that video (which is doubtful lol). Quads take soooo long to become stable and to be quality enough to be jumped safely(ish). Yuzu jumped his first public 4Lo in 2014, and it was fine, but he still wasn't prepared to do it in competition until two years later. And the 4A is another order of magnitude above the other quads. Neither Keegan, Artur, nor Yuzuru are going to YOLO any 4As if they aren't hitting the technical standard consistently. It's too much of an injury risk.

    Origin

I was just thinking.....I can't believe we're getting the pushed-back hair on every podium Yuzu has this season. Imagine how gorgeous Origin will look under medal ceremony lights. All the gold and purple accents will come out, it'll be absolutely incredible. He'll be sparkly like a dragon hoard.
  18. They look so good taken together as a set... *happy sigh*
  19. The Otonal top is a little short in front, but it does the trick Yuzu (and his costumer) wants it to, just like most other things he's worn on the ice. He's used clever costuming to elongate his lower half and make himself look taller for years, to the point where we are all blissfully under the impression he is the leggiest boy ever. He actually has a long torso and maybe very slightly longer than average legs for his height, but not much. Otonal, like Notte Stellata, is just that little bit on the short side in the front for strategic reasons. I could write an entire essay analyzing each of Yuzu's costumes but.....it's almost bedtime.
  20. Me waking up this morning and seizing my phone from the bedside table: Is Yuzu still beautiful in his new costumes or was it just a dream?? Yuzu in his new costumes: *beautiful* Me: ah very good thank you
  21. Just realized that Origin is what happens when you set White Legend on fire and the remnants are still smoldering hot.
  22. I think the colour of Otonal is better on him, and I do love it, but I love Origin more. The proportions are better, the details are incredible, it's bang-on thematically and for his brand (FEATHERS and GOLD and PHOENIXES RISING FROM ASHES? come on), and it has a mature and elegant sexiness. He's been pretty lots of times, but in a way where little boys or little girls could copy his costumes and it would be appropriate. He's telling us he's ready to be a grown man now. Both costumes are continuing the Notte Stellata aesthetic, in a way, which makes me very happy because I adored that costume. (All I would do with Origin is bring out some of those purple accents more strongly around the neckline/shoulders to warm his skin up, because the black/gold/grey makes him a little bit sallow, like PotO 2.0 though not as bad.)
