I think he'll try it at Rostelecom at the earliest and won't leave it any later than JNats. This week he'll want to focus on just testing the programs out. And because he wants to get into the GPF, he will have to try and... skate conservatively? ... at Helsinki, at least. He might try it in Russia depending on how he places in Finland, if he feels he can risk some points and if Plushenko is watching. If he hasn't done it yet by Nationals, he'll do it at Nationals. I don't think he'll leave it as late as Worlds, because the longer he waits the fewer chances he'll have to succeed if it doesn't work. BUT, you can also discard all of the above because 1) We've never been witness to the state of true unburdened wildin' Yuzu is currently enjoying and we are in truly uncharted Hanyu territory now, ANYTHING COULD HAPPEN and 2) Yuzu has never been this open and specific about his intentions. When he was going to do something crazy before he was cagey about it until he did it. Since he was actually talking about doing it before the season even started, to me that means he's REALLY confident and might be at the point where he can just whip out a 4A like whatever. (In which case... boi...)

This is like those pictures people post of their cats contorted into impossible napping positions. Are you alright, Yuzu?
-
I've always thought he kind of has a cat face, that's really funny that he sees himself the same way. I hope he gets to have a cat sometime if he wants one, when his career settles down and if his asthma allows. He seems like he's really into cats. What would he name one? Axel the cat?

It's hard to speculate just because we've seen so little of his SP. I would say, after seeing a bunch of the men struggling with their free, that the time cut might be more difficult to adjust to than we think and may actually be more exhausting, especially for Yuzu who appears to still be packing 4:30 worth of content into 4:00. I will say a mild d), he'll do alright in both and probably set at least one new high score which will be broken once the GP starts, but his free will be messier than his short.

Javi is bigger than Meagan but he's still a smol to a male pairs skater. Except maybe Cong Han, who is himself a smol. Alas, now Javi must be removed from the list of potential Yuzu pairs partners, since they would clearly be fighting over who gets lifted and thrown around.

Yuzuru and Eteri training together would be a mess... Eteri: So, you are training with me now. Yuzuru: *nod nod* Eteri: I have chosen a program which will suit you. Daniil is preparing your music. You will win many gold medals. Yuzuru: *hands Eteri a Pooh flash drive* Eteri: What is this? Yuzuru: My music. Jump layout inside, PDF. Please read my notes. Also, sketch for costume and contact for Ito Satomi. Ito-san making best costumes. Call soon or whole Team Japan booking her. Eteri: I don't think you understand. I choose your programs. I choose your music. I choose your costumes. This is how it works. Yuzuru: But no? Eteri: No? Yuzuru: No? Eteri: Yes. Yuzuru: Yes. Eteri: ..... Yuzuru: Arigatou gozaimasu, Tutberidze-sensei! I go practice now. Eteri: What did he just --

Can't wait to see him inevitably doing that patented Hanyu Bounce down the road with the 2020 Olympic torch in his hand. Hopefully he can manage both holding a flaming object and jogging at the same time.
-
I always think people should start throwing Tiggers and Eeyores and Piglets. He has so many Poohs he'd probably keep a few of his friends if he got them.
-
There might be an explanation for that, at least -- I believe Boyang Jin had been bouncing himself onto the boards like that, and Yuzu saw him and thought it looked fun. The other stuff is all him, though..... at least the Tokyo Ghoul character actually does eat people, so it wasn't completely out of nowhere, like if Yuzu asked Pikachu or Sailor Moon to eat him xD

LGC was already probably the closest any current skater has gotten to a real classic '80s Orser-style costume. I mean... Brian must have shed a proud tear. So hopefully Yuzu got that out of his system. Even though he looked good in it.

Everybody: wow Yuzu would look so good in a sophisticated black costume with some subtle mesh and elegant crystal and lace embellishment Yuzuru at ACI: hello friends I am here to skate

I feel tailoring Prometo to the rules and taking it out of a show setting, it might lose some of its charm.....it's such a good romantic program to skate in dramatic lighting with a dark background. But if this is true, I can see why he might not want to put the time into developing a whole new program for just 2-3 competitions. And two Spanish programs would be a good capstone for his career.

Origin looks stunning. It's packed full and the difficulty is a little terrifying, which is giving me dangerous LGC vibes (especially if we factor in our buddy 4A...), but I trust him to know his own stamina by now and know what he's capable of. But where is Otoñal?

I don't think there's anything inherently feminine about a sleeveless costume, but Yuzu probably wouldn't wear anything sleeveless for competition IRL because then he wouldn't have to bother about shaving his armpits like at FaOI

This one is sleeveless, but I'm playing around with some sleeves right now to see how it looks. I'm thinking a graduated black sleeve like the right arm of Etude

Some quick 'n' dirty (ok, not so quick, I had to use a mouse so wonky lines ) costume fun this afternoon. Inspired by by Chopin 3.0's collar embroidery and WoW's jeweled shoulders. The top and bottom embellishment is supposed to join together into a stylized tree shape on the back because growth, oaks, City of Trees, etc.

The "AND SO ON" is so vague. That could mean "setting twelve new world records" but it could also mean "releasing my first rap album" or "baking a cheesecake that doesn't crack in the middle."
-
Apparently based on Plushenko's first Nijinsky costume. I'm personally hoping for something similar, but sleeveless. Tight, black, high neck, no sleeves. It would really stand out. He could keep the gloves for protection during his baby hydroblade.
-
So technically, it's a Stephane Lambiel tribute as well. He's covering all his fanboy bases. I wouldn't say no to a black and red costume, Yuzu, if you're lurking.

I'm listening to Otoñal again and it's a little dated-sounding in parts (namely, the first section where the percussion comes in), but other parts of it are stunning. The right cut could be magical. Like if Yuzu starred in a movie where he blows in on an October wind to a stuffy little village where the ponds never freeze and winter sports are banned, and opens up a shop selling enchanted ice skates. I'm also making myself sad thinking about it as a little bit of a Javi program too... 'Autumnal' in Spanish, a song for the autumn of their training relationship.
-
That looks dang good already... it'll be so sharp when he's really in competition mode. I love all the ~balletic movements he and Shae are throwing in.
-
Weird... now that I know Yuzu's new programs, I'm feeling kind of morose. Seimei and Ballade (and Notte Stellata) are really done now. It's hard to let Seimei go, in particular. It was just so unique and defining and intrinsically him that I'm a little sad trombone about anything else (despite being excited for new things). His program lineups for the last few seasons were just perfection.
