It would look the same as a pre-practice ACI video except Yuzu would have a really long stringy white mustache and he wouldn't have headphones in.
-
That's wild. I laugh when people say Yuzu needs to get his aged injury-ridden carcass off the ice, haul his gold medals gratefully into the retirement home already and leave the sport to the young men, and then say in the same breath, don't worry, Misha and Jason have the next quad before Beijing to improve. Jason's got his Young 'N' Fresh With A New Lease On Life narrative around him and Misha is forever The Boy Who Will Get Some Consistency Next Season And Then He'll Definitely Conquer, while Yuzu's over there being Old Man Yells At Wall.
-
I ain't mad... Beardzuru will never happen, though. There's nary a trace of a follicle. We can only pray to be spared any post-retirement mustache experiments.

What beautiful meme material that first photo is.

I've just read over all that's gone down today and all I can say is: please let Yuzu's FS layout next season be 1t, 1s, 1lo, 1f, 1lz, waltz jump, 4A, bow, leave the building, go get dinner, free me from this hellscape.

And that's healthy discourse on the internet! *high five* I know my opinions on Origin in particular are probably wtf to some, but it's good to get it out, lol.
-
Oh, nothing, sorry. xD Just in general... in life... he's usually doing something cute and it's always 2 a.m. for some Fanyu somewhere.

Yuzu: Getting plenty of quality rest is important for your health (and uhh your beauty I guess) Yuzu: By the way, I will be at this event live at 2 a.m. your time, doing interesting things and being very cute, just so you know Yuzu: Have a peaceful and uninterrupted sleep, love youuuu

*deep breath* I think Otoñal has one of Yuzu's best step sequences of all time, if not the best, but overall it doesn't quite crack his top 3 short programs for me. His best SPs imo are still Parisienne Walkways, Let's Go Crazy, and his final version of Ballade, because they were each in their own way an artistic and technical breakthrough of sorts for him and were all extremely tightly constructed, polished to perfection, and had flawless music cuts. Yuzu's current Otoñal cut isn't as good as the original version, though I see why he changed it. There are also some spots here and there where the choreography could be improved upon. With another season to iron these things out I know it would get better and better, but I kind of want a new short, so I'd be fine if he didn't go back to it. The versions we have are still beautiful and very watchable. Program: 7.5/10 WINNIES with a bonus point for the StSq so 8.5/10 WINNIES Costume: 8.5/10 WINNIES classic tried and true flattering blue, stunning detailing, don't love the buildup of ruffles at the back of the neck which makes him look hunched, lose the mesh and just let the bewbs be free Origin... Origin, Origin. A dense, heavy, symbolic, exhausting, remote would-be masterpiece that quite never came together. It's really cool and it's also way too much -- too much for the technical demands of the time, too much to communicate in 4 minutes, too much for the judges and the audience to latch onto and appreciate, too much for him to do to the maximum all at once coming off an injury over and over again. I know Yuzu said this season was for having fun and skating what he liked, but with this program, he inadvertently went and heaped a tonne of extra pressure on himself, and it shows. It's imbued with so much meaning and backstory and homage that in every performance of this program you could see the wheels turning and grinding, and I don't think they ever would have stopped and allowed him to be free and be himself while skating it, as he managed to with Seimei and H&L. I think Origin was better meant to be an exhibition program, and also I think it showed up too early. This is not something for a post-Olympic season. Yuzu, when you're healthy, go to FaoI, get that costume on under the show lights, borrow some of Pirate Javi's eyeliner that he is apparently wearing now (???!!!!!), take the quads out of the program, and give it the undiluted media day sharpness and love it needs. Program: 6.5/10 WINNIES for the competitive versions taken as a whole, 9/10 WINNIES for the truncated media day version Costume: 9.5/10 WINNIES, 15/10 WINNIES if he ever does it in eyeliner *throws PCS and GOE* I did not adore Haru Yo Koi right away, and I still think it's not up to the level of Requiem (HYK's music is way better but Requiem is a better program) or Notte Stellata (by far Yuzu and DW's best collaboration, one of the greatest exhibition programs of all time in terms of musical interpretation and pure skating and also one of the purest ballet-influenced skating programs of all time, so there is A LOT TO LIVE UP TO THERE). The choreo is self-indulgent in places but I can't fault Yuzu for that at all. TREAT YO SELF, BOY! I do think HYK grew and developed nicely and what he wants to convey comes through clearly. I consider the snow-throwing addition a Growing the Beard moment, which is the opposite of a Jump the Shark moment. When Commander Riker in Star Trek grew a beard, the show instantly went from OK to great. Likewise when DW left the tour and Yuzu got cheeky and started adding things and throwing snow, HYK went from pretty good to great. This was also my preferred Russian Skating Icon Homage of the season from him. Program: 7/10 WINNIES pre-snow, 8.5/10 WINNIES post-snow Costume: 7.5/10 WINNIES, never wear pale pink near your face, my son

Ice-chan: Whatever, I don't care if you skate on me. Do whatever you want. Everybody skates on me, you're not special. Yuzu: *skates* Ice-chan: Yuzu: *hydroblade, kissu* Ice-chan: *melts a little bit* Ice-chan: I-I mean, nothing! Shut up! B-baka! It's not like I like you or anything!! ___(>///<)___

Yuzu's comments were completely frank and reasonable in context. I think it's something that sounds egotistical to non-athletes and especially when taken away from the question and the rest of what he said (and even what Nathan said kind of reinforced it), but what Yuzu meant, Nathan and Vincent and any of the other skaters would likely understand completely. The Olympics are the ultimate prize, the top of the mountain that has Worlds close to, but not quite at, its peak. It's wonderful to win other competitions, and you can be a champion of lots of things and feel very proud, but 'Olympic Champion' will always be the #1 goal of an elite athlete and will always be the first thing on their resume for the rest of their lives if they win. Why did Patrick Chan, with his illustrious list of accomplishments and World titles, not feel peace until he had that Pyeongchang team gold in his hand? Why did Aljona Savchenko, with her amazing career, burn with kuyashii and keep going and going and going past the age when most other people would have quit, until she got Olympic gold? Because then -- you really feel like the champion you wanted to be. You really are the champion of all champions. There isn't one skater at that competition who wouldn't feel a smidgen taller with Olympic gold around their neck than a gold from Saitama Worlds. I bet anything Yuzu would have traded his two Worlds golds for that Pyeongchang title in a second if he'd had to; it's that important to him. Yuzu isn't sugarcoating it or even necessarily tooting his own horn. He's telling us how an athlete at his level honestly feels.

How-old.net says... a 27-year-old woman.

Intellectually I know that of course Yuzuru will have submitted a layout of planned content, and this layout would probably be the same as before, and that in order to compete he needs to do some skating and some spins and things and possibly a jump or two, but seeing it in print makes me really nervous. My stomach clenched up looking at it.

Look at the beautiful deep outside edge on that left foot. Look at that troll smile. I don't trust it. #TrollzuruQuadLutzRevenge2k19

If it wasn't for Yuzuru, I never would have lost so much sleep from my subconscious brain waking me up at ungodly hours to grab my phone and check on events happening halfway around the world. He's worth it, though.

I agree. I find the CBC, its commentators, and the network as a whole are among the most fair and complimentary towards Yuzu, without gushing too much or being too shallow. Canada has such a rich figure skating history that it generally takes its skating coverage seriously. Plus, what international fans often miss are the little touches of Yuzu-love the CBC often throws into the advertising of its skating broadcasts - their commercials will be very Yuzu-focused, the title/schedule cards will have him, he'll get cool little introduction montages. They know people love him.

I already knew how much Russians like Yuzu but after this competition I'm just astounded. Russian girls of all ages adore him. Russian boys of all ages admire and fear him (if you're Dima Aliev ). He is a prize pupil of Brian Orser and still Eteri stayed by the rink to watch his short program. He has created world peace i.e. gotten Yagudin, Plushenko, Tarasova and Mishin to all wholeheartedly agree on the same thing. He had Yagudin on his feet applauding the iconic program music of his arch-rival. Every fed official present looked as proud of him as if he were their son. Yudzuru Khanyu indeed.

I'm not sure there's much more I can add that hasn't already been said and I'm feeling a little down, though hopeful. So I will go with a bit of levity. Yuzu looked very smooth maneuvering onto and off of the podium on those crutches and I would say with certainty that while most of the previous night was spent dutifully icing and elevating his foot, a small portion of it was probably spent image training and practicing.....I imagine this scenario: Yuzu: *crutches himself onto the couch* Yuzu: *crutches himself onto the coffee table* Yuzu: *crutches himself onto the toilet lid* Mom: Please stop. Yuzu: I don't know how high the podium will be. I need to be prepared. I mean, I've never done a medal ceremony on crutches before and I don't want to screw it up. *preparation bounce* Mom: There'll be people to help y-- YUZURU. Yuzu: *yeets up onto the bathroom counter* Mom: I very much doubt the podium will be that high. Yuzu: Oh, that one was just to see if I could. Mom: My sister's son works in a bank.....

He's chugging that hot chocolate, I'm yelling. Does 927410 takes where he has to sample the chocolate, they're finally finished, and he just keeps sampling it.

*Yuzu's scores come up* Charlie White: Hohohohohohohohohoho. OHOHOHOHO. What a mood.
