I deeply want Yuzu to do a quint and then sit there in the K&C looking smug, with Brian and Ghislain facepalming on either side of him, for twenty minutes as the judges and tech panel argue over how they're supposed to score something that is fully rotated, technically correct according to the list of acceptable jump takeoffs, but isn't in the book. And whoever comes after him getting an extra long warmup.

Yuzu's going to give it his all and be laser-focused on jumps? He's training something in a harness but it's just a story they heard? He might be doing certain programs but they can't say definitively even though they supposedly have insider connections? He's going to work hard this season and see how it goes? He's THINKING ABOUT THINGS? We all need to live our best lives and have the self-confidence and total lack of shame TSL has in broadcasting their iNsIdEr ScOoPs and ~HOT TAKES~!

Ah, Yuzu's singing is fine. It's just the voice of an average person with a decent ear who can basically keep on the note (I would expect nothing less from headphone-senshu) but obviously has no vocal training and has never practiced seriously. With lessons he could probably become The Cute One of a boy band, who can carry his part well enough, provide nice harmonies, hold a kitten in a photoshoot and pull off a lot of different pastel hair colours, but is probably never voted Best Vocals in a fan poll.

The medals look like the butter cookies that come in tins, where you get excited as a kid when you find the tin and then you open it and it's full of sewing supplies. So, much like the Olympics it truly does represent the heights and depths of human emotion.

The costume is fantastic but I can think of a couple little tweaks. Fix the mesh colour so it matches his skin. Make the collar thinner and less obtrusive - his necklaces fly out of it after the first jump anyway, no point in trying to cover them up. Bring out those little purple highlights in the beading that aren't visible from far away. Like PotO 2.0, Origin sort of dulls out his skintone and makes him look pale instead of rosy and healthy. Lean into that purple, Satomi!!

Apropos of nothing I was watching some competition videos and was reminded of one of my favourite little Yuzu moments: at Gangneung Arena for 4CC 2017, the test event for Pyeongchang, at the end of the gala. He talked to the ice for a much longer time than usual, petted it gently and gave it a smile, and one year later it remembered him and rewarded him. If he ever skates at Saitama again, maybe the ice will remember the little kiss he gave it the last time he was there. Any other favourite cute tiny Yuzu moments that have been captured on fancam?

Very interesting analysis. I like to see all the stats laid out like that. Though, average PCS for H&L, 89.08? **** right ***, judges. What I'm really looking forward to seeing is what will happen score-wise if Yuzu really *performs* Origin. He never got to that point because he had so many layout changes and physical struggles - he *skated* Origin, but at Worlds especially he was channeling everything he had into landing his jumps, so that by his standards, he hardly had the energy left to perform. (I make note of this because he gets evaluated according to *his* standards, not to the standards of the field. If someone else had skated that program in the exact same way, well, that might be another scoring story.) But if he can show it in competition with that Media Day fire and dynamism, hopefully the PCS will go boom.

If the ISU hadn't instigated that ~brilliant~ minus 30 seconds rule and he had a few seconds to breathe, he could probably have had sit twizzles *into* his second half 4Lz3tRippon.....

Ehh.....my kneejerk reaction re: Origin is not enthusiasm, because I think the music puts him at a disadvantage PCS-wise. I've probably ranted about this before. But if it comes back, I have confidence that it will come back as a better program choreographically than it was last season. And if recycling helps Yuzu stabilize his new tech and makes him more mentally comfortable and at less risk of injury going into the season, then I am 100% for that.

Yuzu probably learned this look from mama. Example: Yuzu: Oh my GOSH I can't believe you packed the wrong GLO-- Mama: (but with long hair) And that was the end of that.

I'm of the opinion that his meltdown in that free skate was 1% due to injury and 99% due to glove angst.

I remember at Pyeongchang there was a gold tie for one of the bobsled events, between the Canadians and the Germans - they had identical times which was pretty crazy! It's happened in skiing as well. Then of course there was the mess with Sale/Pelletier and Berezhnaya/Sikharulidze...

I adore how this artist's 4A has been aging progressively. Last year he was in the womb! Then he was a little squishy with a pacifier. Then he started crawling. Now he's walking and eating with a fork! Soon he'll be telling Yuzu he doesn't underSTAND, and WHY can't I stay out past curfew with 4F do you not TRUST us, and leave me ALONE, GOD, I'm SO SICK of this RINK, and YOU CAN'T GROUND ME, I'M ALMOST A QUINT. We have to hope this is happening now and 4A will be over that phase by the time competitions start.

Yuzu's influence, so powerful. He knows what he likes. Though I admit that I cringed when I saw him blasting his head with hairspray from about three inches away in that one video. The CRONCH of some of his hairstyles can probably be heard from orbit.

Speaking of hair, remember how Mr. Hanyu gave himself a special one time only '90s Hollywood prince hairstyle for Pyeongchang FS day (a.k.a. Gotta Look Good For My Second Gold Medal Day)? He'd never styled his hair exactly like that before and he's never done it again since.

Would this be an ISU tribute program?

Kind of Yuzu-related: there were not one but TWO (at least) groups performing to the Origin music at the World Gymnaestrada last week! World Gymnaestrada is a big group gymnastics exhibition event that happens every four years.
