  1. P&G Thank you, Mom campaign 2017 CM Backstage
  2. AAAAHHHHHHH Finally and I can't choooooose Maybe I should rewatch both programs before choosing or not
  3. Surprised. No idea how things will settle down. Looks like Eteri is a bit upset and low-key digging at Plushenko? I have no idea how competent Plushenko truly is as a coach and how he and Sasha will get along, but I want to see how she will skate when she skates a program that is not created by Eteri-Daniil. (TBH this is what I always want when I see Team Eteri skaters) One thing I am sure about coach Plushenko is that he is strict about technique. Several years ago, I saw Plushenko at the Japan Open. Although he was there to perform as a guest skater, not a competitor, he was watching other skaters and cheering for them while they were competing. During 6-minutes-warm-ups, I realized that he was very strict (or picky) about jumps. Although sometimes cheering loudly for fellow skaters, he applauded only when someone landed a truly good jump which would earn about +1.5 to +3 GOE under the previous system. I think he is probably strict about other elements and overall performance as well. He was uncompromising toward Miyu Honda when he coached her for a Japanese TV show when she was a kid. According to Ekaterina Ryabova, he shows up at his rink for 2-3 weeks per month. Not sure if it is enough for Sasha, but if the guy always with Ekaterina at competitions is Sasha's former coach, training under him and Plushenko may not be that bad? I liked Ekaterina's performances at worlds last year. Although she was nervous, she looked very smooth and natural on the ice, at least looked from afar. She didn't have a 3A or a quad, but her basic skills looked good.
  4. Haruka was born in Tokyo and had been training in Tokyo except when she trained under Yuka Sato for a few seasons in the U.S. She came back to Tokyo in 2013 and started training under Rumiko Michigami, then moved to Niigata next year without changing her coach, seeking a better training base where she could have more ice time.
  5. This is an excerpt from a sports variety show aired tonight by Fuji. Yuzu's FS at Nice2012 was chosen by a vote to be the most encouraging comeback/come-from-behind performance. This is part 1 and here are part 2-5. I found some new (old but never been aired) footage in them. ETA: By the way... HAPPY 3 YEARS ANNIVERSARY! (Sorry for being sooo late!) It is so nice to have this place to talk about Yuzu at a time like this. Thank you, admins and mods for maintaining this planet. Please take care and stay safe everyone until we get through this!
  6. 2017-2018 ANA HELLO, BLUE, HELLO, FUTURE 30 seconds version (Dec. 28, 2017) 1 minute version (Feb. 14, 2018)
  7. I searched on twitter and saw what happened, what TAT said on Russian media, and her latest Instagram post. I think she is probably somewhere in north Japan now. She is wearing a mask, the season of sakura has ended in other areas, and there should be more people under the trees if the footage was filmed in another year. I am disappointed, to put it mildly. I know how Japan look regarding COVID-19. I've seen people saying Japan has been lax about it and living an abnormally normal life under this abnormal circumstance. Some of the responses toward it from our government and some fellow Japanese look crazy even to my eyes, however, our life isn't free of restrictions and difficulties even if we aren't completely locked down. Many people still go out to work but they aren't doing so because they aren't taking things seriously. They dread working and are stressed out. Those who stay home face their own fears and difficulties as well. After the government declared the nation-wide state of emergency, things have changed a bit and it became a bit easier for us to focus on protecting each other from the virus, but many of us are mentally strained in some ways. Hachinohe, Aomori, where she allegedly is, may look less affected by COVID-19 compared to large cities in terms of numbers of patients, however, Japan is short of medical resources especially in the countryside since the government has been cutting down the medical budget, so healthcare system in a local city like Hachinohe can easily get overwhelmed by an emergence of a small cluster of patients, and this already happened in March when some locals came back from Spain. Most of the prefectures in Tohoku experienced similar situations in March and early April and have become very nervous about people visiting there or coming back from heavily affected areas. The local economy in Tohoku isn't so good especially after the quake, so young people often find jobs in other areas, and some of the people staying there relying heavily on tourism, and this is usually a holiday season, so people live there have reasons to invite people from outside, but these prefectures have declared that they would refuse visitors during the nation-wide state of emergency and request locals to refrain from inviting people from outside because otherwise, they will face unmanageable situations. They are also taking their own measures to ensure that. As far as I know, Aomori and Akita have been requesting people came from outside out of necessity to self-quarantine at home for about 14 days. Some may think that she is free to travel in Japan since she has done self-quarantine after arriving in Japan but taking this request into consideration, I am afraid she should still remain in whatever place she is staying. To some, it may be ridiculous to respect a rule when there would be no penalty for disobeying it, but many people respecting it to protect their loved ones, to save the community. To me, it looks like she is ridiculing such people's efforts while taking advantage of the situation created by them. I hope she stays safe and goes home safely when she can, not for her but for our healthcare workers and other people who may have to take care of her and her team when they get sick, as they will need extra help to get over the language barrier, etc.
  8. Translation of their comments: Kaori: "Hello, this is Kaori Sakamoto, a figure skater. To all the healthcare providers including doctors, nurses, and medical staff fighting with the new Coronavirus in the frontline to save precious lives, I would like to thank you and cheer for you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you so much. To make things go back to normal as soon as possible, let's work together, everyone, avoid closed spaces, crowd, and close contact, take all possible measures." Mai: "Hello, this is Mai Mihara, a figure skater. I am filled with gratitude toward healthcare providers and many others fighting in the frontline and saving us in the difficult situation created by the new Coronavirus. What I can do now would not help much, but I will continue to wash hands, gargle, and make sure not to go out and stay home. Believing things will settle down safely, I pray that you stay healthy and your life will be filled with smiles. Please take care of yourself, everyone." Satoko: "Hello, everyone, this is Satoko Miyahara. In addition to daily training, I started in-line skating as a new hobby. Although it feels a bit different from skating on the ice, I feel the joy of being able to skate. I also watch many movies to refresh. I am hoping to stay active in the future. Skate forward! The next skater is..." (Starts imitating Keiji) *The footage of her in-line skating was filmed on the premises of the apartment building she lives in.
  9. Looks like there will be no ice show in this offseason, so I posted an old show in the video section. Hope you will enjoy it when you feel like watching a show. ETA: Thanks, @yuzuangel for helping me sharing this!

  11. I'm afraid this information is old. The tweet is based on an article issued by sputnik JP in February. It says, "国際スケート連盟(ISU)は、フィギュアスケートのシングルとペアのルール変更を検討しており、6月にタイで開催されるISUの会議で変更案を提出する。ロシアのスポーツ専門サイトsport.ruが報じた。(According to Russian sports news site sport.ru, ISU is considering rule changes for Singles and Pairs. They are going to submit the proposal at the ISU conference which will be held in Thailand in June)" but the ISU congress, which was going to be held on June 8-12 in Phuket, Thailand, has been postponed until 2021. (Source) They may discuss this rule change next year if the situation allows, but I am afraid they will have many other things to discuss to sustain this sport under the new conditions created by COVID-19.
  12. Interviews with Javi English translation by lena on twitter Another one: English translation by Elisa on twitter:
  13. OT but he is a coach now. In this video, he is competing with his student on the number of 3Lo they landed. He says that it is the first time for him to attempt any jump in a year, which makes me imagine how skaters will regain their jumps after this long fight with CV...
  14. Translation of the Japanese part of their comment: "Utana and Shingo: Hello, everyone, this is Uta-Shin. Shingo: We've come back to Japan safely before Canada closed its borders, and now I am in Tokyo. Utana: I am in Okayama, and we are both fine. Shingo: Right now, we can not travel since we should avoid going out, so we are individually training for the new season in separate places. Utana: I believe we will one day be able to share the joy of figure skating with you. For now, let's work together to get through this time of self-restraint to protect our loved ones."
  15. I guess she laid synthetic ice on the floor of her room. As for Dice, it was U.S. fed who approached him and offered to put him on Team USA. Here is the source: Despite being a good skater, he could not win a chance to compete at Worlds or Olympics when he was competing for Japan, so I think he may be interested in challenging himself to win a spot to compete at them.
  16. Not sure if she already has a senior GP spot next season, but what she meant here is that she wants to compete with her peers in a good way, and first, do well at JNats to compete at a GP in near future. And to be able to skate in the final group at JNats, she wants to relieve anxieties through practicing.
  17. This makes me suddenly miss the SCI2019 EX and a swan
  18. Thank you for sharing the video! I think I've read the transcript of this video but I didn't know they gave a detailed analysis of these skaters' techniques showing such a super slow-motion video. I envy Italian fans. By the way, I think the arm position for 2T in Zigeunerweisen is a choreography because it is the only program in which he jumped 2T with his hands on his hip, and he jumped 2T with normal arm position when he popped the 3Lz before it at 4CC2010. The choreography of Zigeunerweisen resembles Csardas in ballet in many parts, so I think the arm position in 2T in 3Lz-2T is an extension of hand-on-hip choreography often seen in Csardas in ballet, and an attempt to earn GOE by making the jump more difficult.
