Is she the one who was skating to Winter Dreams in the 2018-2019 season? I didn't know she was training under Eteri. She was such a beautiful singles skater... Hope everything goes well with her.

Here is the YT link for men's FS. I guess you could not find it on Youtube because it's unlisted? By the way, do you remember this footage? It is an excerpt from a news clip reporting on Yuzu visited one of his former coaches Mami Yamada in Hokkaido last summer. The guy commenting on Yuzu after meeting him in the second half of this footage is one of her students, Kazuki Hasegawa. He also took part in the Inter-High School Meet. According to this article, he became able to land triple jumps at the age of 13 or 14 and at his first Inter-High, he was placed second. However, after that, he had to stop training for 6 months due to a stress fracture in the lower back. It seems that he met Yuzu when he was trying to bounce back. He said he was encouraged by Yuzu, who said, "If you train thrice as much as others, you'll definitely become good. If you love skating, you will be able to go on." (The news footage captured the exact moment he said this) For now, he has not decided whether to continue skating after graduation or not, but if he can, he hopes to work on his artistry like Yuzu does and become an entertaining skater.

I don't see why Jack had to write such an article. Her coach has denied that Mai was anorexic, and the disease she is suffering sometimes causes weight loss. Jack may have some information sources in the Japanese figure skating community but are they knowledgeable enough to tell what she is actually going through? I doubt that those who are close enough to know her current status would give someone like Jack the detailed information about her private life and I doubt medical specialists would assert that someone is suffering from this and that without actually examining the person. More than anything else, what's the use in spreading such a rumor? How does it contribute to society? It is just hurting someone who is already suffering. This is coach Nakano's comment given to Nikkan in November. I've already shared this article several pages ago but this time I will attach a translation of paragraph 1 and 2. (Paragraph 3 is about Kaori): https://www.nikkansports.com/sports/news/201911040000003.html Translation: "Sonoko Nakano, who is coaching ladies' singles figure skater Mai Mihara (20 years old, belongs to Sysmex) gave an interview on 3rd (t/n: of November) in Grenoble where IdF, the third competition of GPS was held. Mihara has withdrawn from GPS and domestic competitions this season for not feeling well. On how she is doing now, the coach explained, "When I left, (Japan for the competition) she was still in the hospital, so I can't tell until I get back and talk with her. I heard that she had switched medications. Although I don't know how it turned out, it sounded like things are changing for the better. What I heard is that what she is going through now is not anorexia, but her body can not absorb nutrients. Everyone worries about her losing weight, but she is eating properly.""

Dice's new vlog is about his birthday this year and how he appreciates birthday wishes from fans. Many Yuzu fans were celebrating his birthday as well and he found them and thanked them as well. This time, he made this video bilingual for Japanese speakers and English speakers as well.

What a beautiful interpretation of Haru yo koi. Thought of how rapidly cherry blossoms change the scenery and how wildly the petals dance in the winds.

Not very new, but let me share some Javi contents shared or released these few weeks A documentary features Javi aired in Japan at the beginning of this month. It is an episode of a series called 奇跡のレッスン. (Miracle Lesson) Aomori doesn't have an ice rink available all year round, (the venue of SOI Hachinohe to be opened this spring will be available all year round) so the young skaters training there are having difficulties in continuing skating despite having the passion for it. Having grown up in a country where figure skating wasn't popular, Javi wanted to help such young skaters, so he accepted NHK's offer and visited Aomori sometime in the last autumn. Since Javi doesn't have much experience in coaching yet, he sometimes needs to figure out how he can teach what he wants to teach while teaching the kids, but in the end, he successfully helps the kids overcome their challenges and some of them achieved good results in regional competitions. Javi posting a photo of local newspaper reporting Nonoka, one of his students winning Aomori championships Nonoka surprised and excited to find Javi's post The program is about 2 hours long so it is hard to summarize or translate the contents, but Javi is a very creative and supportive coach here and the program is moving. Maybe Spanish speakers would get what is happening since Javi is mostly speaking Spanish although he sometimes casually says tsukareta (疲れた=tired) and otsukare-sama (お疲れさま= "we/you worked hard" or "Thank you for your hard work") ETA: Forgot to add this one:

At first, I thought it might be something to promote 4CC2021 since it will be held in Sydney, but reading the description, it sounds more about Yuzu himself. Seems like the audio will be available on the website as well. Looking forward to listening to it!

The tweet says "Looks like I've found a baby in pink" so it is probably pink, not orange. I guess it is because of the lighting, like the photo of the clear files was taken under incandescent light or something. By the way, it is already the mid-January but happy new year, everyone. Hope everyone's having a good beginning of a year and have a healthy, safe and peaceful, exciting, fruitful year ahead. May Yuzu stay healthy and have a great year that is much much happier than 2019. By the way no.2, for those who want to take a look back at GPF2019 without commentary, TV Asahi channel 2 will air it tomorrow (JST) Broadcasting Schedule (JST): Men's and Ladies' singles: Sunday, Jan. 19, 10:00-14:05 Ice Dance and Pairs: Sunday, Jan. 19, 14:05-18:05 Exhibition: Sunday, Jan. 19, 18:05-20:25 Source 1: https://www.tv-asahi.co.jp/ch/contents/sports/0409/ Source 2 confirms that it will be without commentary (会場音 means in-venue sound):

I have been following FS in Japan since 2005 but I've never heard of such a theory among Japanese fans... I don't remember JSF protesting against ISU about their skaters being underscored either, but JSF tried to help Mao in a different way. They appealed ISU to raise the BV of 3A, which was realized after Vancouver 2010. Source 1 Source 2 Some Mao fans protested about judging during GPF 2013, but it didn't seem to affect her scores or other Japanese skaters' scores since they made good results in the competition, and in Sochi and Saitama 2014.

Looks like I failed to get my point across, so I rephrase. I am baffled to see you repeatedly tried to hold someone back because you think Japanese fans want it, not because you think it is wrong or inappropriate or inconsiderate, or anything. I think trying to control someone saying because someone else wants it is not right. It is true that there were Japanese fans reacted negatively to the cake and the song, but they all have different reasons. And those who seriously wanted to stop other fans are trying to reach out to them by themselves on their responsibility, explaining their reasons, choosing how to word their opinion. Japanese fandom is huge and diverse. We have all kinds of conflicts between fans as well. So it is impossible to speak for majority. To do so is just to create a phantom.
-
I am not sure how many Japanese fans you are following on twitter, but most of the negative comments I saw on the birthday cake given in the kiss and cry were mentioning only about the timing. I think many of fans in Japan at that moment were busy cheering for Yuzu and checking on-site reports instead of what anti said. This is not the first time I saw you asking to stop something because Japanese fans don't like it, or Japanese fans have different ideas, but if you agree with them, why don't you state it as your own opinion? You may be speaking for them out of kindness, but as a Japanese fan, I sometimes get baffled to see us being generalized and used in such context. Each fan on twitter has their own opinion and background and they chose how to voice it according to their point of view on their own responsibility, even though they might look alike.

Happy birthday, Yuzu! May your 25th birthday be full of smiles and good memories. Always wishing you health and happiness!

Nobu posted a blog post yesterday which explains what happened since he became the club manager until he made this decision. It seems that he has written it in October and made it private until yesterday. This time, he didn't post an English version, so I am not sure if it is ok for him to share it in English, but since his comments in the press conference yesterday have already been shared, I translated it to share his take on what happened. If I may ask you a favor, please don't share this post on another platform in copy-and-paste style or in a screenshot. I want to keep things simple for him as much as possible, so I want to keep it controllable in case it causes him unneeded trouble.

Welcome to Japan! Have a safe trip! I found an announcement on their official site. It says they will ship the ordered chocolates on Nov. 25-26th as scheduled. http://lotte-shop.jp/shop/t/t1186/

It was Yuzu's decision to do R&J 2.0 in the 2013-2014 season. I think David said that Yuzu wrote him a letter and asked him to choreograph R&J in that TSL interview. Yuzu also said in a radio show hosted by Shizuka that he chose the music because he wanted to skate to a musical piece that he could empathize with (I guess NDDP was a bit hard to relate to...) Another reason he revisited the theme was that he saw Sochi as the culmination of the preceding 4 years including the life-changing 2011. Brian's decision Yuzu responded with "I LOVE IT" was to do POTO in 2014-2015. Rest is a response to the current topic: As to the choice to skate Ballade No.1 instead of LGS, Noriko Shirota's book backs up the Yuzu's comment translated by wherespacepooh. As to keeping Origin and Otonal, I don't even think it is "recycling." He is still competing and he is still doing it aiming to win, but I don't think what he is doing now is completely the same as before PyeongChang. He has already won two Olympics. He has been sacrificing many things including his health. Does he have to give up two programs he wants to present in complete forms with win to please judges? Just because he has already used it for a season? At this stage, to compete that way doesn't pay at all, I think. If his choice makes him feel motivated or fulfilling, that, in the end, should be the strategically best choice as well.

The reason why Asahi didn't air SCI live is simple. Singles events were held in early in the morning or around noon. It is opposite to prime time so they cannot sell the ad spots at a preferable price if they air it live. In a way, they are doing the exact opposite of what NBC does regarding the Olympics although they are both pursuing profits. Asahi aired CoC2014 live since men's events were held in the evening in Japan. They also aired TEB2013 live in the morning and it was before Yuzu became this famous... As to the way Japanese media treat our athletes, most of them are just opportunists. Last year, after GPF, they were praising Rika as undefeated and showing Alina as who passed her prime. There are some reporters and sports journalists who are always supportive of any athletes, though. In many cases, they are former athletes. Just to clarify, but to compete in SCI and TEB in 2013 was not Yuzu's choice. When you finish in the top 6 at Worlds, you can request the competitions you want to take part in. However, it is the organizers who decide whether to invite you or not, and they often decline your requests. For example, Nathan requested NHK this year since it was convenient for him but NHK did not invite him since they wanted Yuzu. (Podium finishers at Worlds normally don't compete with each other in GPS until they qualified to GPF) In early 2013, Yuzu was injured and there were many strong men's singles skaters in Japan. Yuzu could not afford to choose 2 GPs with Patrick risking the chance to compete in GPF which was a qualifying event for Sochi. It is just Yuzu and his team accepted the assignment as an opportunity to learn and did their best. As to the capacity of competition venues,I agree with others. He doesn't decide where to compete based on the venue's capacity. The arena in which NHK 2015 was held has only 5000 seats. Makomanai arena in which NHK 2019 will be held has about 6000 seats, although they will make some arena seats in addition to this.

Oh no. That's too bad... As to the battle of MOI, I lost too. That's why I am thinking about going to Junior Nats for Utashin. Wish we both hear good news about the Senior Nats tickets...
-
But you still have another chance? Second sales will start on the 13th. I am thinking about going there on day 1 to watch Utana and Shingo if I manage to finish my job early since we don't need a ticket on that day.

For Nathan practicing 4Lo might be more risky than beneficial since he suffered hip injury in the past. Besides, he doesn't need it much to win now. I guess his 4Lo is taking a walk now since Nathan rarely calls him to ask for help. But skaters lose their jumps for various reasons, like when their shoes doesn't fit well, when the blade is buckled, after taking time off, after a long flight, when they suffer slight injury that hinder them from pulling in tightly while rotating, etc. They lose it even when there seem to be no reason. It's a tough sport.
