  1. They haven't yet announced when they start taking orders and where. Since the online exhibition begins from July 1, they'll probably reveal further details around that time?
  2. After all, tabloids are newspapers of a sort... I wish they get deprived of freedom of the press according to the percentage of fabrication and speculation in their articles... As to Patinage Magazine, they were probably thinking the same as you do, and the interpretation of image rights and rights of publicity must vary from country to country, so I don't think they had bad intentions. However, I understand the response from Shoma and Dai's agent. From their point of view, PM is targeting their fans to raise money without their consent, and still continuing the crowdfunding after reaching their goal. When I searched on twitter by the magazine's name to know what was going on, most of the recent tweets were of their Japanese fans, so I guess they contributed a lot to the achievement, probably not just to get the reward but to show how much their favs are loved, and I think they deserve to know how these rewards were produced and how their favs think about them. This COVID situation really sucks. I am also seeing my favorite shops and live music clubs I used to go closing... Hope PM will work this out to survive this. ETA: By the way, when I find something to add to the what-happened-this-day list, how should I let you know? Should I just post in this thread or DM you or edit the list?
  3. Cross posting from General thread: Patinage Magazine has started crowdfunding earlier this month to survive its economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 situation. As rewards for donations, they offer original items such as diaries using the images of a skater or sets of skaters' photos as well as digitized Patinage Magazines. However, last weekend, the agent of Shoma and Daisuke Takahashi, whose images are used for the rewards announced that PM hadn't gotten permission to use the images either from them or from JSF. (JSF is managing the image rights of their skaters except the ones used for news reporting purpose) PM is also using images of Yuzu and other Japanese ladies, and given that they had not contacted JSF first, it is highly likely that the item using images of them have the same issue. So if you are considering donating because of the rewards, check on the news section of their crowdfunding page first to see how the situation has progressed and make sure you will get the reward. 5. Taiwanese version of Aoi Honoo. I guess this is a collectors edition? Looks cool! https://www.kadokawa.com.tw/event_detail539.htm
  6. If you can watch Jsports 4 via I-sakura or other services, they are airing the highlights of 4CC 2011 now. They'll air the same program again on June 27, 12:00-14:00 JST.
  7. Does this really belong to this thread? If it is about Rika, there is no way she and her team wouldn't have responded if the news of her training under Brian was false. Her agent is Avex, a talent agency that is dealing with media all the time. She has her own SNS as well. It should be easy for them to correct misinformation. Also, if the news was false, they should respond quickly because otherwise, the false news could damage the relationship between her and coach Hamada. Rika going to Canada just for the summer camp would not have treated as news because her training for some weeks in other countries is nothing new. Whoever came up with the idea of publishing this article doesn't know much about Rika or how this article would be read by its potential readers, though it is not surprising since Sputnik is a Russian news agency and Sputnik.jp is nothing more than its Japanese branch. ETA: "news" from "news agency" in the last sentence was missing so I fixed it
  8. I saw the last one of the three books today. Here is my quick review: Ice Jewels photo book by Nobuaki Tanaka Fantasy on Ice occupies 25-30 percent of the whole pages. It also has a compilation of results in the 2019-2020 season and a hand-written message from Yuzu. It was really nice to be able to look back at FaOI2019 now since we don't have it this year... and his hand-written message was very sincere and touching. As to the photos, I have a slight beef with Tanaka san. Not sure why, but Yuzu in his photos sometimes looks a bit flatter than he actually is. I wonder if Tanaka san is erasing the slight shades and small wrinkles on Yuzu's face or it is the lighting or the quality of the print. Maybe we are seeing Yuzu very differently since a photo reflects the photographer's point of view as much as a painting reflects the painter's. Hochi photo book by Toru Yaguchi It is huge, heavy, and square. Consists of photos taken at the competitions in which Yuzu competed in the 2019-2020 season. The quality of the print is definitely the best among the three. I felt as if I was watching Yuzu with Yaguchi san through the finder. As the pages are square and most of the photos are rectangular, there are blank white or black spaces on many pages, and that enables you to immerse in each photo. On several pages, you'll find the text by Megumi Takagi looking back at the last season originally published on hochi website. https://hochi.news/articles/20200406-OHT1T50170.html Yuzu'll be back II (Sponichi photo book) by Yoshiki Kokaito and Yutaka Nagakubo Slightly thicker than IJ photo book. Consists of photos taken at the competitions in which Yuzu competed in the 2019-2020 season. It also contains transcriptions of the long interviews given after each competition. Of course, the focus is on Yuzu, but they wanted to show the connection between him and his coaches, ex-teammates, other skaters, and fans. So, you will find many smiley Yuzu, and some of you may find yourself in the photo of Yuzu throwing the koala. As Yuzu revisited many old programs in the last season, they sometimes put an old photo of Yuzu wearing the same costume or skating the same program next to a photo from 2019-2020. My favorite is probably Hochi's. It reminds me of what I felt in this season (except FaOI) most strongly. If you want to see Yuzu showing all kinds of emotions in shows, you should buy the Ice Jewels photo book. If you have a weak spot for Haru yo koi, Notte Stellata, Ghislain, and Javi, you may like Yuzu'll be back II the most. ETA: My explanation of Hochi might be a bit confusing. It doesn't have many completely blank pages except for the one after the title page and the two after the colophon. What I meant to say was that Hochi's pages have larger margins.
  9. Looks like the source is this book, though I haven't bought or read it. https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/4575315311
  10. Mao attended a promotional event for Air Weave she's been endorsing and demonstrated remote customer service with Kei Nishikori playing the customer. She commented that she stayed at home during the state of emergency except when she went out for groceries, and she is planning to re-start her "Thanks Tour" in August. (source)
  11. Asher Hill is going to join skateproud's live-chat I've been waiting for Asher to join this sort of project and share his experiences in a conversation with someone willing to listen... instead of news show hosts that constantly cut him off mid-sentence since I watched a live-chat between Mae and Kiira. I think, in his situation, sharing his experiences and being understood would help a lot. I've watched some of the other live-chats hosted by skateproud (the ones invited Jorik, Amber, and Jordan) and Raya has been doing a very good job. The chats were inclusive and done in a relaxed manner and giving us chances to know the guests more as athletes and as people. (Honestly, I admire Raya for doing this by using a second language for him...)

  16. Nice to hear that her foot got healed while she had to stay home. Looks like Yuna still has restrictions but she says she can enjoy training
  17. Yup. This is exactly how the figure skating fan in me looks like at the moment...
  18. Looks like Yuzu's message of gratitude and support toward healthcare professionals shared on JOC's twitter is on the latest edition of Kango. (means "nursing," probably a trade magazine for nurses) Welcome back, Murieleirum! Glad to hear from you after these months! This drought is nothing like the droughts we've had. I wonder how it would feel to watch a skating competition next time...
  19. Hochi photo books are in stores now
  20. Yes, this school hit by the tsunami on 311. After all the students went home (though there was/were a student/students died in tsunami after they went home,) the tsunami flooded its first floor. Roughly one thousand people lived around the school took shelter in the school building, and it served as a shelter for survivors for the next six months. The students moved to another school and then to a temporary school building and came back to this school building in the spring of 2014. (Source) I think they came back after their school got restored, and it was the summer of the same year when Yuzu visited there, so I am not sure this visit has anything to do with rebuilding itself, but he must have wanted to cheer for them as well as to thank them. @Geo1, I don't want to talk about this in detail since it would infringe on their privacy at some point, but it is true his father was working for this school. It is confirmed in other sources. As you can see from the video shared by Icewings, this visit didn't happen because his father was there. The footage was filmed for 24h TV and that year, they chose to visit Ishinomaki since it was in one of the areas close to the ocean and severely damaged. The school was one of the spots they visited, and it was connected to him with the support messages for him from its students. ETA: @IceWings Thank you for the video! All the other full videos I've bookmarked has been deleted or taken down so I was looking for snippets on twitter and trying to translate it. The video also clarified something that wasn't clear in a text I refered.
