  1. "When I stay home, I mostly watch TV, fall asleep, wake up and watch TV, fall asleep. This is my favorite place in my home. Where my family hangs out. Time passes so quickly here. Although I can't practice, I work out as much as possible to not let my body get weakened. I know this doesn't sound convincing paired with these photos. lol While asking everybody how they kill their time, I searched for my own way, so I would like to share it/them next time. # in purple again" On Canon article posted above: Wakaba had a plan to make new programs right after Worlds though she couldn't due to this situation. She is hoping to do so when the time is right. As to the jumps, she is aiming to master difficult jumps step by step, like, first, be able to land 3A solidly, then start practicing quads. She named 4Lz and 4Lo because; 1. Salchow isn't her strong jump. 2. Since she had suffered Lisfranc injury, she may sprain her left foot if she practices 4T. So I don't think she was overly ambitious or impatient when she gave this interview, though, at the moment, no one knows how everyone can prepare for the next season...
  2. Upon request of the Kanagawa prefectural government, the Shin-Yokohama Skate Center (the venue of the ice show starring Zhenya) is going to shut down for a while starting today to ensure that people stay home. (Source) Tokyo government included ice rinks in the list of places and facilities that should be shut down during this state of emergency, and Kanagawa seems to be following them.
  3. This is an excerpt from a news segment aired in 2008. It's a report on the opening event for Sendai Winter Park, a winter-only outdoor rink. Yuzu took part in this event with his teammate Mari Suzuki, who was going to compete at Junior Worlds 2009 with Yuzu. Here is the full clip: A rough translation of the interview after their performance (05:27~): Interviewer: How do you feel? (t/n: about your skating) Yuzu: Well... Although I was a bit nervous since the ice was smaller than usual, I could skate well without any trouble, any mistake, in particular, so I am happy. Interviewer: What about you, Miss Suzuki? Mari: It was so much fun since I skated on the outdoor rink for the first time. Interviewer: Actually, they are both going to compete at World Junior Championships in February. Miss Yaginuma, could you give them a message of support? Junko Yaginuma: They are both in the stage where one can develop themselves rapidly, so I hope they can bring out their full potential without holding back. Gambatte kite kudasai! (=Do your best!) Interviewer: And from their sempai, Mr. Honda! Honda: Well... the word "Gambatte" makes skaters most nervous, so... I just hope they'll enjoy skating there, showing what they can. Interviewer: Indeed. Thank you, skaters! That was a great performance!
  4. Thanks! This is fun to watch! I completely forgot that he skated Ballade No.1 in PW costume. I guess the 4Lo-3A after that blew it away from my memory... Another bonus track or quiz: What program is he skating here? ETA: Maybe I should have share this one instead: Longer footage without BGM
  5. From Madi and Evan. Their dog wanting to join them is so cute
  6. He is Tadashi Nagashima, who made costumes for Mao Asada and Japanese singers such as Sachiko Kobayashi and Judy Ongg. Source
  7. This round is so tough... I can't choose between H&L and SEIMEI and I love LGC and Romeo both... SEIMEI is a very unique and well-composed program, and for me, a perfect interpretation of the Onmyoji, one of my favorite novels. H&L, on the other hand, is so Yuzu and I have become emotionally attached to this program seeing his journey with this program in the 2016-2017 season. LGC is another well-composed program which is so fun to watch. I cannot forget how the audience reacted to the last few moments after the knee slide as if they were in an ice show at NHK2016. As to Romeo in R&J 1.0, I might prefer the Ci version in terms of interpretation. All the R&Js in the 2011-2012 season was exciting, but to me, they all looked like a step toward something he would be able to present in the near future. His performance in Ci was the complete interpretation of Romeo I envisioned in the 2011-2012 season. However, I can never let go of R&J in Nice. It is an embodiment of fortitude, one of the most beautiful things he has.
  8. I think this has already been shared but NHK BS1 will start airing Yuzu's performances at past NHK Trophy (2010, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2019) in 30 minutes. The same program wil be aired on April 5th (starting from 10:00 a.m. JST) and April 13th (from 00:26 a.m. JST)
  9. Feel like trying this at home. Looks like this exercise doesn't require much space or make a loud noise (if you can control your body like Zach...) Perfect for someone who lives in an apartment.
  10. Emmi Peltonen skating on the Arctic ice Finnish article with behind the scene video (Interviews are done in English and the Finnish part have English subtitles) https://www.redbull.com/fi-fi/behind-the-scenes-emmi-peltonen-the-arctic-dance The finished video, "The Arctic Ice Dance" https://www.redbull.com/fi-fi/emmi-peltonen-the-nordic-ice-dance
  11. Suddenly, I miss Jeff so much. Not sure when is the next time we see his performance on the ice again...
  12. So this is when this artistic hockey video was filmed? I thought of a manga titled Supinamarada in which a figure skater who quit figure skating becomes a hockey player making use of his skating skills like this But it looks tough to train in this situation. Hope things get better for them...
  13. Henni147, I agree with yuzuangel. It would be nice to have multiple versions since any copy of the complete version always has a risk of being taken down once found by the rights holder. And I should have linked or mentioned this version when I suggested the battle of Chopins in Round of 32 thread. I'm sorry!
  14. This is a mixture of Ballade no.1 in FaOI Makuhari day 2 and day 3. Here is the complete footage of day 3 when he skated clean uploaded by TV Asahi. Or is it geo-blocked outside of Japan? ETA: If this video is geo-blocked for you, then use this link
  15. Haven't watched the OIP video of SCI EX rehearsal yet but it looks like it lasts more than 30 minutes! What a treat
  16. It is Hanyu family's crest. (confirmed in the Sponichi article you mentioned) It looks like Maru ni mitumori Kikkou ni Hanabishi, but since neither Yuzu nor his family has talked about it, there is no way of confirming it. Patterns of Kikkou and Hanabishi are both very old and have been used in multiple countries. As you wrote, Kikkou is a design based upon turtle shells. In Japan, it has been used since the Asuka era as one of the auspicious patterns because the turtle has been a symbol of long life. Hanabishi has its origin in China. The design is based upon water chestnuts and had been used for clothes and furnishings for aristocrats in the Heian era. Crests sometimes indicate the roots of the family. However, in the Edo era, one could use whatever crest they liked unless it was used by a samurai of higher rank. Some used existing crests, some arranged them, and some created their own to represent themselves, bring luck to them, etc. So the similarity in crests doesn't necessarily indicate the connection between wearers.
  17. Han Yan updated his weibo. He is running wearing a mask. According to google translate, he says, "Today's weather is really good, and I feel comfortable running."
  18. My mind went completely blank when I saw this news this afternoon. He was going to come back to Japan to teach young ice dancers with Cathy and had already sent his belongings last week, although he could not move right away because of the coronavirus situation. It is so sad. Hope his family can receive supports from people around them since it must be difficult for them to get together and help each other now.
