Again, right there, April Fool's
-
It says right there it's April Fool's. That's pretty neat from him.

I am unsure why going or not going to <insert name of school here> matters, and why it warrants research and debate here. It simply reeks of desperation. Chen might as well be going to Scumbag College, the actual narrative that is giving him a "role model champion" aura is that he's going to college and still winning, hence being able to awe the jugdes. The ivy league matters only for recognizability. If his competitors aren't dealt with crap seasons yet again third year in a row (and Uno manages to rotate), this aura will disappear, being replaced with "he can't manage both!!". He got very, very lucky that he was able to build his momentum with practically no one around.

This isn't against what I've said though lol. Plus, Chen has two world titles now (guy is unbelievably lucky with the seasons the skaters better than him got dealt). This still isn't against the judges viewing him as a "fighter". They are fish-brained people. Wilson also has Canadian rep. Whatever we might feel about that program is irrelevant for the judges. Plus, it could be Bourne, too, quite easily. They are collaborating well enough. I doubt that camp will ever improve without an in-house jump coach anyway, but summer-camps to build up jumps aren't unheard of.

WTT prediction game

Who will mug the camera the most? -
I get that this is a fan thing... But would you rather he did the same thing year after year or kept trying new things? I don't think his jumps have degraded fwiw, he's just less consistent this season. The 3A looks larger for instance. I think he was affected this season due to having more challenging programs than before and then also having to deal with the 30 second drop (and other issues). Although I do wonder what's happened to the 4S... His tech was the same as it was in 2017 worlds. But I'd give him Most Gritty. Well actually there was the new 4T+3A sequence, so that. He's being called more on his pre rotation too, I think. Also agreed on Cha. No

He's hiding something.

I think he is showing great skill, but I don't always feel engaged with him... I think he has an off-putting persona on the ice, and comes off as a try-hard. He's very young... but I didn't feel that about the others on your and my lists who've already passed that age. He's quite generic, agreed. Kind of weird they are going with him, because nothing stands out (except his UR technique). Agreed. She needs work, and I hope her coaching team take help from some Russian ID teams. I like the short better than the previous one, and she became quite assured as the season closed. But her skills are still lacking, and I dislike the fact that she was propped up yet again. 4S< But agreed, nothing stands out. She's a great talent, and I hope her future is secure. I think she could be very versatile. I think this unfortunatley stands out more with the LP, because that needed a great power and drama that she lacks for me. Quite gangly.

God, she's so good! I don't think she should have won Sochi, but it's amazing the talent she's showing, with so many great gems with her one-handed Biellmann, her fan-spiral -> 2A -> twizzles, her extremely difficult entry into the giant 3F, the perfect illusions, her wonderful energy, and the upside-down catchfoot camel. Really, everything but the sloppy footwork, and the not-great toe loop technique.

What are your thoughts on the 2018-19 season? Which skater is most improved? Which program did you like the most? What would you like to see next season? I realized halfway through that the post-Olympic season is always a mess, and I should disentangle myself from skating for a bit Men: I thought Boyang Jin improved his PCS quite a bit, and is an excellent skater now in his practices. He still needs to pull it all together in the competitions, though, but given what was happening this season, it's understandable. Hope next season is much better. Shoma Uno didn't show huge improvements, but he did perform his SP different to what I associate with Loco, and I was right that he would be leaving his LP relatively "empty" to fill it with a more mature presence, which somewhat worked. Nathan Chen continues to bore me. I was unimpressed with Jun Hwan Cha this season, although I liked him very much at the Olympics. Ladies: Kaori Sakamoto, Rika Kihira are amazing talents. Alena Kostornaia, I found quite overrated when it comes to people's praises for her. But, she was junior this season, and for that level her quality is great. Pairs: Sui and Han are the best skaters skating currently, and I would love to see what they do next. I hope Boikova/Kozlovskii develop to their potential. ID: I enjoyed nothing and nobody this season, but P/C are great talents.

I noticed Zhou's problems right on first watch I am, err, "shocked" that the tp didn't I also don't think he deserves level 4 on all his spins. I think Chen did an ok job in the LP. SP I truly don't remember.

I definitely did not believe Zhou should have got a level 4 anywhere here

@yuzuangel Can we have a program discussion thread for the rest of the skaters too? I would love to read all the opinions! Here is my ranking (starting from 2011-12 season), based purely on what I can remember. I expect it will change if I sat down to rewatch and analyze, lol. Dead sure about the number 1 in each list, though. LP: 1. Romeo and Juliet 2011-12 2. Hope and Legacy 3. Origin (I think this was able to bring out better depth at points, but I think this and Seimei are kind of equal?) 4. Seimei 5. POTO 6. Romeo and Juliet 2013-14 7. Notre Dame de Paris SP: 1. Étude in D-sharp minor, Op. 8, No. 12 2. Parissiene Walkways 3. Let's Go Crazy 4. Chopin Ballade No. 1 (might as well rank... I like the Olympics version much more than the first two versions of this) 5. Otonal
