  1. Leave it to Browning to be one of the few who know what they're talking about.
  2. How is this "clear" to you, might I ask? Based on a season consisting of Yuzuru winning both his GP events by wide margins, not being participate in the GPF and letting Chen thus build his momentum, and then giving a less than stellar SP performance at worlds? Again, Chen had 107 for a clean SP event. He crossed 45 PCS for the first time ever, AFTER Yuzuru failed to deliver a clean SP. His GOEs aren't as high as Yuzuru's when both clean. It's not nearly as cut and dry as the soap opera-level "Asia has been dumped by the ISU in favour of the US" (as if it ever was the ISU's love in the first place!) reasoning going on.
  3. Of course Yang Jin decided to bunny-ear Boyang.
  4. Yes, really. If you've watched how judging works, this is exactly what would have happened. When Fernandez was considered second best (like with his performance at the Olympics) he was placed 4 points behind (Unless you consider that "close for excitement" which I can't help). The judges would have clinged onto Chen's inferior quality if Yuzuru had delivered, his place is still second in the judges' eyes, but very close. He hadn't even exceeded 45 PCS before this, IIRC, and even here he couldn't even cross or approach 110, which is where Yuzuru would have been with the 4S. That's already 3 points while still considering the judges doubting his ability to deliver in the LP. The momentum within events has always worked like this.
  5. Well, if Yuzuru had gone clean in the SP, they'd have inflated Chen's score less and given Yuzuru the lead after the SP. He'd have had more momentum going into the LP, letting him get away a little more with the same scratchy landings he had there, and Chen would have been the "only if Hanyu falls" replacement. Would have won. While it is true that more BV will give him more ground for mistakes, I'm not sure what the momentum aspect of an event will do for him or anyone when a (big) mistake does happen. Chen and Hanyu are considered nearly equal at this point, and they don't care if one fails, because they'll have the other (although when both clean, it will be Hanyu). Chen's momentum can be quelled a little if he's beaten at the GPF again (he's had a free ride for two seasons now), and even more if he places below second there. I always wonder if the skaters know that the judging is bogus.
  6. Then lol. Even if he'd been placed second technically, they'd never have put him below Tim on the artistic mark, giving him the first place in the LP.
  7. if he's saying judges don't have them, then, again, meet his own 2010 comments. There's a reason I don't watch TSL LMAO This is a bogus criticism, as any music can be interpreted through movement. (and given that he's talking about his "feeling" about what Hanyu does, congrats on contradicting his own statement later) He doesn't even seem to understand what phrasing means all on his own, given his comments on music. So yay for the skaters who get saddled with him in a competition.
  8. Joe Inman is still allowed to judge after his not even remotely subtle attempt to prop Lysacek (Lysacek) as the more artistic skater compared to Plushy? Well, fitting, seeing that USFSA has two Lysaceks on hand now. Probably meant it on the technical side. G&G were perfect (or the best) on several aspects: skating skills, transitions, interpretation. "Passion" not being a part of the scores is nonsense, and also a robotic way of talking about a performance. It's exactly what should ideally be judged in components. Call it "attack" if you like.
  9. Yeah, just saw it might be a joke. Added that in right as you quoted me lol
  10. Ice Fantasia became a very good show this year. The cast was very good, and the group program ideas were fun. Hopefully, next year, it's aired in full, especially because ATS is afaik.
  11. ^ that link went b0rk. SP: River Flows in You, LP: Experience. Yes, really. You know what, I'm counting these as warhorses, too. EDIT: It MIGHT be a joke.
  12. My lists probably WILL be shorter than anyone else's, but I do want to insert a Brown performance in each of 2018 and 2017. I just don't remember which ones I liked best, and really don't feel like rewatching them all.
  13. LOL, this will be short for the first couple of years. (unordered lists, except for the order in which I remember the events to have been) (Thank goodness for Karen Chen in 2017) 2019: Sui and Han Worlds LP 2018: Wakaba Higuchi Worlds LP Virtue Moir OWG Individual FD Satoko Miyahara GPF SP Adam Rippon NHK LP 2017: Karen Chen Worlds SP Yuzuru Hanyu Worlds LP Shoma Uno Worlds LP Patrick Chan Worlds LP Javier Fernandez Worlds SP Boyang Jin Worlds SP Sui and Han Worlds LP Sui and Han Worlds SP Karen Chen US Nationals SP Yuzuru Hanyu GPF SP 2016: Papadakis and Cizeron Worlds FD Javier Fernandez Worlds LP Sui and Han Worlds SP Yuzuru Hanyu GPF LP Mao Asada Japan Open LP
  14. Oh. Definitely thought they'd ended up splitting it into Classic vs Modern. Maybe much later in that thread, or I'm too imaginative. ETA: Oh, here it is lol. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/1/d/1rlpmew9LCkiGRahFgq9Bonkw2H5kKYACe8m1kXo4d9o/edit?usp=sharing
  15. Carmen is classic! Hmm, will need to dig out Xeyra's previous posts.
  16. It will suit her, IMO, too. But still... Lolol Land. How many is that for the Modern Warhorse Bingo?
  17. I hope Jun performs in competition as well as he is in this show. I didn't find him as musical or attuned to performing this season.
  18. Sooooo, hints towards Averbukh having done Medvedeva's SP apparently?
  19. Oooh interesting. I already said in the streaming party we need to do a 2006 Olympics rewatch, because it has some of the best performances of the season.
  20. OCL was talking about their daughter. I have no clue if she ever went with Grinkova. Or was their daughter always Gordeeva, too?
  21. Speed is rewarded in skating skills. Unless you mean "speed were actually rewarded".
  22. Does the lack of a turn in front of a toeloop (from Jason and Boyang) count as a difficult entry?
  23. I want a legit funk/hip hop program now.
