You mean Nessie will be birthed? o_O On a more serious note, that gives us a lot of time to make music videos, cheer projects and that TCC project.
-
Yep, but I think his team has sadly, too much experience recovering from injury. And what PC has taught us, he can stablize a good majority of his jumps within 2 weeks. He also now knows how to keep himself fit and has a good idea of what off-ice training he needs to stay fit. All those (painful) lessons weren't for nothing, and he'll come back better than ever. Okay, now I'm waiting for those boots to go up to 10 mil yen.
-
Wonder how many swan bags had to be used this time. Hope he heals up well and fine. =)
-
...well, it is an interesting imagery. You mean Yuzuru or Yuzuki?
-
We all wish that. Honestly, an investment in a pair of signed shoes right now sounds about as good as investment in real estate.
-
Hey there, welcome to the forum. =)
-
Yep, it's now up to 9.9 mil. When a pair of used boots from you can buy a house, goals man, goals! I think we need to up our expectations to 15-20 mil yen now.
-
We need a very big bag...."superficial scuffs on legs and feet" and "lump on right side of head." We're not going to be that violent right?
-
I think it's this article: http://sports.china.com.cn/dongji/pingchangdongao/jinpaixingxiu/detail_2018_03/05/896890.html Based on this, the translation is roughly as follows. @mods and admins: please feel free to move this where appropriate. I'm not sure where newspaper clippings should go?
-
Think I know the article in question. Will take a look once I get time.

Wunderbar, we get to tear out our hair for another week. *sigh* The joys of stanning this guy. Auction for his used shoes are at 3.9 mil Yen. Anyone think it will go over 10 mil Yen this time?
-
In other news, that auction is now at 3 mil Yen. I feel so proud to stan a guy who can raise so much for charity with a pair of stinky old boots. And this has got to be an old pair of boots from 2 years ago (he switched to Pianos recently right?).
-
That's still cheaper than 10 square meters of real estate in my city. C'mon people, I expect a bit better than this.
-
Think someone above somewhere mentioned before that some collectors would buy things and rent the item out to museums or other exhibitions to cover the cost. Also, Beijing 2022 is coming up-has no one considered that Tao Bao, Tencent or Netease, or any other chinese corporation might bid on this if they decide to be sponsors for 2022? They might just give a giant bid to ensure they get it. 300K USD is probably a drop in the bucket for the revenues that taobao (alibaba) generates per day.
-
Well 30 mil still had me raising eyebrows, but I wouldn't be that shocked at 10-20 mil Yen honestly. If there are Chinese or european/Western bidders, who are bidding on behalf of museums or other groups, it's highly possible. Yuzu's fame in east asia (there are guys who don't follow figure skating who know of him)+ charity related= people willing to drop money like crazy. Easier to justify too than just frivolous spending-you can always say hey, at least it was for a good cause.
-
Well it's back to 1.2 mil Yen. And that's less than a couple hours after the re-open.
-
Eh, there's another pair or its the same pair? It's at 500k Yen. https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/m243024856

Well, normally we'd advise against investing too much. But if you must, the ones I'd recommend are: -Ladies: Nana Araki (not going to worlds I think), Mako Yamashita, Yuhana Yokoi, Sui Takeuchi, Moa Iwano, Akari Matsuoka (amazing spins) - Men's: not many to choose from, probably Shun Sato, Sena Miyake, Mitsuki Sumoto, Koshiro Shimada JPN ladies field is more interesting than the men's right now. Quite a number of 3As among the Junior ladies, while some of the boys have shaky 3A's and no stable consistent quads yet I think.

Thank you for the interesting read. =) Actually what is amusing is last weekend, a couple male rinkmates were talking about which skaters they viewed as "feminine" and which skaters they viewed as "masculine." For these guys, Yuzu is not feminine. He always had movements that stuck and worked well with the music, so his movements and expression were considered graceful, and gentle, but not necessarily feminine. And going back to what the article said, the "arts" was never considered fully masculine or feminine in Chinese confucian culture. Similar to japan, public performances of the arts was a right given to males traditionally. Gracefulness, regalness, gentleness is not something exclusively given to females or considered feminine; rather, it was simply an expression of your professionalism in the arts. Hence, a male actor can be utterly "feminine" (by western standards) when performing, but it would not be considered part of his sexual/gender identity. It would simply be considered a "professional" and responsible representation of his craft. There is nothing that would be inferred to him as a person directly. Another way to even view gender identity, to a degree, is to think of the tai-chi symbol. There is a bit of yang inside the ying part, and ying inside the yang half. Also, under confucian and even taoist principles, the scholarly, polite, diginified gentlemen took dominance over the soldier/general/warrior class. In Chinese history, bueraucrats and scholars were considered "higher" than generals, and most nobles or large estate families were from the scholar class, not the general class of western history.

I seriously wonder if there are chinese companies involved, like taobao probably earns that much in 10 mins. They would be keen in buying some stuff for 2022 if they plan to sponser.
-
Joining in that opinion. I think if the injury is not that bad he may still go back to TCC over the summer, better for privacy and a off ice training. I do not think staying long term in sendai is an option for him. Maybe with occassional flights back to jp for check ups.
-
Well that takes guts. Usually what happens when I offer to pull someone for a spin practice, even if the skater knows how to do 2 foot spins or 1 foot spins is like this: Me: Well I can help pull you to get into the circle for the spin- Rinkmate: No no no Me: You sure? It might help... Rinkmate: Positive, I might fall if you pull me. It's too scary. Me: o_O

I think and hope he prioritizes GP/Nessie over worlds. But you know, if a doctor told him that, his next action will be this: --->
-
Because saying that he won't compete is like dying to him? But hey, we all need a little baby brother who makes us lose our hair and want to strangle and smother them all at the same time, right?

Can you please add my music suggestions to the CD? おねいがい?
