Did he...over-rotate a 3S? Is he nearly there for a 4T-Lo-4S?

So, when the planet explodes on that day, who's going to write the daily spread eagle? At this point, the planet has employed the AI pooh-gundam droids to go work the salt mines, so enough smelling salts are available for the eruption. (and I still call Nutcracker and pink tutu...)

Want to exchange some weather? It's about 33 C where I am. Can we trade like...3-4 degrees? Knowing the time difference, I'll be asleep when the announcement comes, so likely, the shock will sink in while I'm flipping through my phone, totally bored during a morning management meeting...

I want to see that missing step sequence of Seimei in Ex...that and the little leap that he does at 0:13. It's so pretty, and I now have a strange desire to see Yuzu do a falling leaf jump or a stag jump.

If he really goes for a Genji based program, we really need to write a version of Yuzuru no Monogatari, and instead of going after various ladies (and men) like Genji, the story will focus on his methods to acquire various poohs....

Oh dear...him and the half of every other 20 year old guy at my office....

Eh, I went and checked that claim on google, and so far there isn't that much info that proves that you can turn slow twitch to fast twitch and vice versa. There was mention of the Type IIa muscles which seem like an intermediary group that has traits of both. But regardless, the issue is really using what fast-twitch muscle groups you have to the best potential. Then there's that pre-rotation of his flip....I wonder which is easier to fix, his flutz or his pre-rotation on the flip. Both are pretty much embedded in muscle memory now, so he'd have to fix from the singles on upwards... Makes me wonder what his single flip looks like, how the heck does he even take off with that much pre-rotation?

I resisted until this March, but joined full-on after H&L at worlds. And here I am, going through the Canadian immigration website trying to figure out the visa application system.....

We need to map out this planet before the volcano explodes and covers the land.... A volcano that emits gold dust, poohs and occassionally whiffs of smelling salts to ensure the sanity of its residents. Can you imagine being a tour guide conducting around a group of kids around the planet going: "Ah and here, we have the palace of the King, with 3 olympic sized rinks so our great lord Hanyu can practice whenever he desires. They all come with AI driven Zambonis that are timed to clean the ice once every hour. Now, the side aclove is reserved for the one and true Empress Pooh, the original one that our great lord Hanyu acquired at a young age and held since. Now, if you will look over there, behind the aclove of the Empress, you have the smaller houses for the many concubine poohs that our great lord has been gifted with. It's an increasing population, so throughout the land, you will find small mansions dedicated to those said concubine poohs. " "Ah, now here...in the center of the planet, we have the wonderful Mr. Volcano. The planet ran out of name ideas so it's just Mr. Volcano for now. As mentioned in the guidebook, this volcano erupts based on the general mood of the planet. Sometimes it explodes and covers the land in gold dust, since the lava is not normal lava. Sometimes, when in a festive mood, it spits out stuffed poohs. And occassionally when the great lord himself makes a random decision that causes mass hysteria, it emits puffs of smelling salt to calm down the planet's inhabitants."

Stockier build isn't really the reason why someone can or can't jump. Mai Mihara isn't exactly tall either, and she's got great jumps. Then a lot of the male skaters back in the days (Scott Hamilton, BOrser, Uncle Kurt) didn't even reach the 170 CM mark height wise and still did fine with their jumps. In regards to Yuzu's jumps, the way Uncle Kurt described it, "No one else transfers speed to height (or was it distance?) like he does." The is more an issue of technique and how you time your take-off. Yuzu is an efficient jumper; as for Shoma, the fact he can take-off with his flip technique, makes me inclined to say he's more of a strength based jumper. And this is more of how did you train your jump technique starting with your single jumps. So nothing to Shoma, but more of who and how they trained him. Already, a lot of kudos to him for attempting and starting to re-train his edges for his lutz jumps, that's quite a bit of courage there. As for Adian, I actually thought he had nice quads when he did them. His health is a real pity....

At this point frankly, I'm okay with anything. He could do the extended verison of Ai no Koi dance for all I care with tutu and boobskirt even (I'm sure he can pull it off), just want to get this suspense and anticipation over with.
-
I stand corrected, for some reason I always remembered the first 4S as a 4T. So yes, he could have yolo'ed a 3 quad second half from WTT. Or maybe do a 4Lo-3T and go for broke....
-
A 4T-1/2Lo-3S wouldn't work, unless he switches one of the 4T combos for a 4Lo-3T, since otherwise he'd have 3 4T jumps in his layout. And granted, he did practice the 4Lo-3T in NHK practices no? Guess that's another combo for 17/18 season, so even with a 4Lz, he could bring in 5 quads, with a 4Lo-3T combo replacing the old CoD.
-
Has he seen this yet? What if he adapts this as a replacement for the koi dance?

Is it just me who finds it amusing that both girls just automatically laugh and emphasize that he's still single? It's as if they're all advertising him out for something...

...black clothes....what if Yuzu skated to the Nino Rota "Godfather" with LGC hairdo?
-
Well if he's going for that...I hope that's a hint of firebird?
-
Can he do skating academy/coaching at the same time? We want to see more Chan-style edge control. Nice change of pace after the quad-craze.

Combined with the images above, I was thinking "Does this mean Vincent, as a lowkey fan, will go mushroom hair? o_O"

How did you guys get me to watch his FS? My lost time....R&J music doesn't really suit him, something about it just doesn't seem right. If he had to go the Rota route, maybe even La Strada would work better. If he had to go classical, Gerswin might work better, plus some of the more recent, modern classical music. I don't buy much into the score, because judges will score comparatively, and Vincent hasn't gone against the big boys. He won't get those scores if he goes against a decently clean Nathan, Shoma and possibly Boyang. Artistically he's not Hanyu, or Jason, or Patrick, so naturally he won't pick the artistry route. But in pure techniques, he's not Nathan either-which begs the question, why his team chose the technical route to the top. I mean, so long as Nathan breathes, Vincent isn't going to overtake a decently on target Nathan. Nevermind that Vincent has serious UR issues. Nationally it might work, since he could fill the gap between the pure technician Nate, and the pure artist Jason. But internationally, I don't know. There's Shoma, and there's Boyang to worry about-seriously would you give Boyang's quads and Vincent's quads the same GOE? (well honestly you shouldn't, but then again sometimes the judges...)

Favourite Skating Programs [Non-Yuzuru Hanyu Edition]
Xen replied to kaeryth's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
I'm definitely showing my age with this one. Before the Man in the Iron Mask, there was another Dumas work being done by a French skater. Naturally referring to our (in)famous Philippe Candeloro, and his D'Artagnan program. It's got nothing on the difficulty of today's men's programs, but the program is charming with a very fun straight line step sequence that is quite toe-picky. And he is easy on the eyes...ahem.... -
Haha...remember that video with Nomura Mansai, and Mansai going "evil judges." Oh yes, exorcism in action on ice!
-
I haven't watched it, and honestly don't want to watch it. Not a huge R&J fan, and frankly Zuzu's 2012 WC was the only version I can stomach. I'm no longer sure how active @Fresca and @koneko but it would be interesting to get their input. There was a thread on alignment of Shoma and Nathan: The thing that bugs me the most about Shoma and Vincent's prerotation is that it's not a normal prerotation- normally when we say "prerotation" when learning the jumps it's about the upper body going ahead of the legs, which leads to problems of under-rotation (or not lauching, period). Vincent, due to not having that many close-up videos of his actual feet and legs when jumping, right now looks as if he doesn't pre-rotate as much as Shoma. Btw, congrats on getting me to watch Vincent. But his alignment has shades of Shoma. Shoma....Kurt Browning has some on-point commentary during the WC long. In a flip jump, your weight actually transfers to the right leg to vault up. Shoma's right leg is just a brake, his weight stays center and on the left leg, so he pivots on his left blade to jump up, rather than really using his right toe pick. A flip jump when done right, can get you the most height and distance out of all the jumps. But shoma's flip looks much smaller than what I expected, and his launch method probably contributes to that. The real issue is that his methodology is absolutely unnatural position for your left and right legs . At the rate he's going, in a couple years there might be ankle, legs and maybe hip surgeries incoming.

..I'm honestly just praying that the guys pay attention to their damn health. While previously I suspected that 5 quads in the long is the fatigue limit for men's long, these guys really want to prove me wrong. So here's to hoping that I'm right, and it sinks in to them at some point. And to think that maybe in 3-4 years we might have to say something similar about the ladies' field, with all the new young girls doing quads.....

Well I did suggest a slight gender-bender swan lake. I might vote Nutcracker, if anything else just to know what he looks like in pink....
